Olema Campground Reviews
This review is a long time coming! I lived on site in exchange for working at the campground, May - December 2024. I would have stayed longer if able to!The park has received some negative feedback, primarily due to the behavior of fellow guests. Many visitors have shown a lack of consideration for others, leading to tension within the park. The park manager does not wish to supervise the campground constantly; however, if camp rules are violated, don't take offense when called out directly. Management aims to engage in constructive conversations with those exhibiting inappropriate behaviors, such as:-Allowing children to run through other campsites-Children going to the restrooms unsupervised (while the park is safe, supervision is essential)-Playing music, especially after 10 PM-Being dishonest about the number of guests at their site-Allowing dogs to roam off-leashThe park itself is stunning and well-maintained. However, winter can be challenging due to flooding, which is beyond the park's control. The team does their best to mitigate the impact and effectively communicates with guests about potential flooding. Julianna, the long-term housekeeper, does an exceptional job keeping the park clean, and the restrooms and shared spaces are well cared for. Some negative feedback regarding restroom cleanliness stems from guest misuse. Staff follow a cleaning schedule, with the last cleaning occurring around 5 PM, after which guests use the facilities. If the floor is wet after your shower, consider using the mop available outside the restroom.Large groups sometimes hog the restrooms, leaving no available shower or bathroom stalls for other families. Since showers are not metered, some guests take advantage of this.I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the park. During the week, it is peaceful, filled with the sounds of birds and nature. On weekends, it comes alive with families, which is beautiful to witness. Unfortunately, some visitors treat it like a city park, bringing speakers, shouting during games, and staying up late, making it difficult for neighbors to relax. Many guests seek a reset in nature, hoping to enjoy a tranquil environment rather than a party atmosphere. If you're looking to celebrate, consider renting a venue instead.Gabi, who has been at the park for a decade, is its backbone. She works tirelessly, answering guest calls in the middle of the night, managing water pumps during floods, and getting supplies when needed. She also provides opportunities for those who have been displaced and require extended stays. She is genuinely kind and straightforward. As an employee, I appreciated her support when dealing with entitled guests. While she goes above and beyond for visitors, it's important to remember that not everyone will be satisfied; in this age, the customer isn't always right. The office staff was fantastic, and Joelle always brought great energy to the office.I truly enjoyed my time working with everyone! The maintenance crew has also been a long-standing part of the team, doing a good job of keeping the park clean and ready for the next group of visitors. The campground is making improvements with donations; replacing trees that had to be cut down, replacing tables etc.I recommend visiting during the week, call to make your reservations; the team is happy to guide you on the perfect site for you and will let you know if there is a large group on the campground. There is wifi, it works best during the week. You are camping do not expect 5 bars, lets be real!My favorite campsites:Tent sites 11,12,RV: A10, 147,148, 150,151There are sheep that have free roam of the park, if you wake up early enough you might see them grazing! The park is worth a visit even if its the day use area! If you are boon-docking in the surrounding areas you can buy a shower pass!
Jun 22, 2025 · Rocky ValdesThis is a great location and with spacious campground so close to Pt Reyes National Park. Great well marked hikes through lush dense forested areas just a short distance away. Older campground but repairs and work in progress all the time. Staff is great. Heavy rains have caused flooding in the past but they are on it. Still a great place to camp. Weve been going there for 30 years!
Apr 26, 2025 · Pat ShearerThis is a fabulous place to camp! For RVs they have partial or full hooks-ups, a dump station, large, level sites. It's really pretty there with a super nice staff. Full bathrooms with showers as well. It's a great place for families or groups of friends.
