- Exceptional Staff & Customer Service: A standout feature, consistently praised in reviews, is the campground's staff. Their friendliness, helpfulness, and willingness to go the extra mile – like delivering ice or offering free water during an outage – create a welcoming and supportive environment that makes campers feel truly valued.
- Strong Seasonal Community: A significant portion of the campground is home to seasonal campers, many of whom have returned for decades. This fosters a vibrant and friendly community atmosphere where "full time residents are friendly" and a sense of "home" away from home develops. This is a key draw for those seeking a consistent Cape Cod retreat.
- Prime Central Cape Cod Location: Situated in South Dennis, the campground offers unparalleled convenience to everything on the Cape. Being roughly two miles from both the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod Bay means easy access to a diverse array of beaches. It’s also just a short drive to popular towns like Chatham and Hyannis, and well-connected to major attractions like the Cape Cod Rail Trail and ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Old Chatham Road Campground, as part of the broader Thousand Trails/Encore RV Resorts network, often participates in membership programs and special offers that provide significant value to frequent RVers, especially those planning extended or repeated stays. While direct, short-term "coupon code" type promotions for daily rates might not be widely advertised, the most prominent forms of "special offers" revolve around their membership programs and seasonal booking options.
- Thousand Trails Camping Pass / Encore Membership: Old Chatham Road Campground is a participating location in the Thousand Trails Camping Pass and Encore RV Resort network. This is arguably their most significant "promotion" for RV enthusiasts. Members pay an annual fee to access a network of campgrounds with no nightly fees for certain stays, or greatly reduced rates. This can lead to substantial savings for those who camp frequently throughout the year across multiple locations. Various tiers of membership exist, offering different benefits like booking windows and park-to-park access.
- Good Sam Club Discount: The campground offers a 10% discount for Good Sam Club members on daily rates. This is a common and valuable discount for a large segment of the RV community.
- Seasonal/Annual Sites: A major draw for locals, particularly those from Massachusetts, is the availability of seasonal or annual sites. While this requires a larger upfront commitment, it offers significant long-term value by providing a guaranteed spot throughout the camping season. This means you avoid nightly fees, the hassle of setting up and taking down your RV for each trip, and you become part of a welcoming community of long-term residents. This offers a "discounted yearly rate compared to daily or seasonal rates."
- Extended Stay Benefits: For those looking to stay longer than a few nights but perhaps not a full season, inquire about weekly or monthly rates. These often provide a better value than simply multiplying the daily rate.
- Facebook & Website Specials: It's always a good practice to check their official website (often under the "Offers" or "Specials" section) and their Facebook page. Campgrounds sometimes announce limited-time promotions or events there.
Given the popularity of Cape Cod, especially during peak season, securing a seasonal site or leveraging a membership like Thousand Trails can be the most effective way to experience Old Chatham Road Campground economically and consistently. Old Chatham Road Campground Reviews
This is a great little campground on Cape Cod. We just returned home from a 7 night stay and would definitely come back again. The staff here are wonderful. When we first arrived we went straight to our site. A staff member met us there and made sure everything was good. He even went to the office and delivered a bag of ice right to our site so we could get our camper set up without having to stop to get ice before the office closed in 15 minutes. The water had to be turned off for some repair work and the staff gave free gallons of water to everyone. The water was only turned off for about 1hr so honestly it wasn't and inconvenience but they wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. While most of the campground is permanent trailers they are well maintained and the full time residents are friendly. I agree with other reviews and the sites are a bit smaller then we are used to in PA but our 28ft trailer fit fine. One thing I do recommend is to bring lots of leveling blocks because the sites are not level. This campground was convenient to everything we wanted to do. I can't really speak about the bathhouses because we use our camper showers and stuff. We didn't use the pool either but I did see a staff member cleaning it every morning and evening. On the weekend they had activities for families and kids including a outdoor movie night. We had a fantastic week!
Jul 25, 2022 · Jason HunnellNot thrilled with our experience. First, it seems most of the sites are seasonal. Meaning, most sites have semi-permanent “homes” rather than travelers like ourselves. Not that it’s a bad thing - just NOT what we expected or were looking for. Second, staff were non-existent. Never talked to one since we arrived or left. Not that we didn’t try. We left a voicemail but never received a return call. Now listen, I know it’s off season but really? The “office“ is the size a small shed - rarely saw anybody there. Usually in by 11am and out by 2pm. Third, cable wasn’t included (they told us ahead of time of time). Internet was not included and we had no idea ahead of time. We were not willing to spend the extra amount, because it was not a bargain to stay there to begin with. Won’t be returning anytime soon. I gave it two stars instead of one because we did enjoy the proximity to someLocal places we enjoy in Dennis.
Oct 13, 2023 · John VittnerWe recently spent a weekend here while visiting family on the Cape. It was a perfect location for going out on day trips as there is a lot to do in the area. Easy access to route 6 while towing a trailer. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us when we had a problem checking out on time, for which we are so grateful! It was a very friendly and laid back atmosphere.
Jul 18, 2022 · Britni SweeneyFirst impression is that you've arrived in an old mobile home park with multiple speed bumps. Most of the rigs are stationary year-round. Only a few RV sites are available for visitors. One way paved roads. Very quiet for Oct. Pool was closed but is centrally located along with children play area. Dog bags available near dumpster. Our back in site had a concrete patio and rock yard. Tall trees. Good stopping point in the Cape. Near Hyannis where we had to do our laundry for $4 per washer. No laundry on campground. We had to pick up packages in the local post office as campground does not accept them. We travel park to park through Thousand Trails.3 nights was good to drive the National Seashore and take the ferry to Martha's vineyard
Oct 06, 2021 · Cherie PetersFirst and foremost I feel as though the incredible, hardworking park staff don't get the credit they deserve for helping to maintain the park's cleanliness and positive vibes! It truly starts from the bottom up, it's a shame for the lack of a great foundation in regards to management, as this park would be one, if not the best, I have stayed at thus far. I believe they do their best to accommodate, however i feel being overwhelmed has led to vacancy (management)....I appreciate the camp is authentic, rustic and the years of traditions/memories shared by residents make it even more of a comfortable, warm place to stay/visit.This place is what it is! Im not sure what other expect before arrival, but you can't put a Nickerson State Park in South Dennis, of course it is a small campground and most (if not the entire) Old Chatham Road itself has not changed in decades, so it will be outdated to many because of its surroundings! I live in this same area year around and if this park were to be any larger or any more glorified locals would not be happy, it is unique and i hope it stays that way, truly not much left of that on the Cape...Clean pool and spacious pool area, a kiddoe pool as well! Very kept grounds, and most importantly bathrooms! Very lively with kids, great playground and basketball court as well making it a perfect option for young families. Only real disappointment would be the rec hall and what it entails. No vending machines, no pool table or area to sit and all the gaming machines are out of order. It would be nice for it to be more functional, but I know there is an external company whom handles this? In all, as a local resident I would highly recommend this park to anyone visiting the mid-Cape area. Easy to find and less hustle and bustle, hidden gem by far!
