Aug 10, 2018 · SARAH CARMENThis review is strictly on area 6X.We LOVE Nickerson! The best family state park! Great swimming, hike trails and biking. Great place for the family to enjoy the outdoors. However, area 6x is not our favorite one and we've stayed at all of them. It's not that bad it's just that we would rather stay at other ones like areas. It's far from store, playground and the swimming beach is not the nicest one. I actually think is the worse one from the whole park but, if you like mountain biking, it has great trails near by, it also is peaceful and you have showers at close proximity our site (110) was actually very private and convenient. It had water across from site and bathrooms weren't to far.
Jan 22, 2019 · NancyExcellent park with a great location at site 086. The spot is conveniently located with easy access to the lake, just near site 084. The restroom is only a 5-minute walk away, which is super convenient. Overall, a fantastic place to relax and enjoy nature!
Sep 20, 2024 · Darya TMy friend and I stayed at area 6X this August. Overall the site is clean and near bathroom and shower house. Very important when you have a bunch of kids. It has one big open sandy area where you will find one small fire pit/grill, like the one you would find at a single family site. For a group site I would expect a bigger grill. BBQ on this for a big group takes forever. As a comparison one of the group site at Shawme Crowell State Park offers a big platform grill and it is at waist height. Huge difference. The entrance to the site offers four parking space but it can accommodate up to six if you want. That is a plus. The downside is that the parking area has two big tree stumps, one right in the middle and one on the side. Couple of our cars didn't realize that and drove into them when we first came. Trees are kind of far from the open area. Make sure to bring extra long ropes if you want to set a tarp sheet over there. Same thing if you want to set a tarp sheet over your tent at some of the area.
