The only good think about this campground is the fact that it is along the Deerfield River!I thought this was a great campground but is the most unprofessional campground I have been to. No online booking system. Instead you have to call to request a site; which is fine expect the owners play favorites and choose who gets the best sites. My friend tried getting sites and called to reserve the sites we liked most. This was at the start of the year (8 months before the reservation. Later we realized the sites were never confirmed for us and were all filled by "families that had been coming for decades."The owners play favorites and are just rude with how they come across sometimes. The sites are also expensive and only allow one tent per site. Will not be coming back here again! - James Baczewski

Mohawk Park Campground offers a range of services and amenities designed to cater to various camping preferences, with a strong emphasis on providing a comfortable experience right by the Deerfield River.

  • Diverse Campsite Options: The campground provides different types of sites to accommodate various needs. A major highlight is the availability of "waterfront sites on the Deerfield River" for both RV and tent campers, offering a unique and sought-after experience.
  • Full Hookups for RVs: Beyond the waterfront sites (which have specific environmental considerations), "all sites have full hookups," meaning RV campers can enjoy connections to electricity, water, and sewer, enhancing convenience and comfort during their stay.
  • Tent Camping: Dedicated tent camping options are available, including those on the waterfront, allowing for a more traditional and immersive outdoor experience.
  • Fire Rings: All sites are equipped with fire rings, allowing campers to have campfires, which is essential for cooking, warmth, and the classic camping atmosphere.
  • Clean Bathhouse: A "full super clean bathhouse" is available for guests. This is a crucial amenity for all campers, providing well-maintained restrooms and showers, which are often highlighted as a key factor in campground satisfaction.
  • Direct River Access: The campground's location directly on the Deerfield River means easy access for water-based activities. Campers can "tube or raft" the river directly from or to the campground, entering further upstream and lazily drifting until they reach their site. This is a significant recreational offering.
  • Family-Friendly Environment: The campground is described as "family friendly and just plain friendly place," suggesting an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
  • On-Site Owner Involvement: Review mentions that the owner is a "great guy, very involved," indicating hands-on management and a readiness to resolve any issues quickly, which contributes to a well-run and responsive environment.
  • No Online Booking System (Phone Reservations): While some might see this as a drawback, the booking system relies on phone requests, potentially allowing for more personalized interaction and management of site assignments, which can be beneficial for returning guests or those with specific site preferences.

Mohawk Park Campground stands out in the Western Massachusetts camping scene due to several unique features and highlights, particularly its prime location and commitment to certain amenities, despite some operational quirks.

  • Unbeatable Deerfield River Frontage: This is unequivocally the campground's strongest highlight. Its location directly along the Deerfield River offers unparalleled access for water-based activities. Campers can launch tubes or rafts upstream and float directly back to the campground, an "incredible experience" as noted by a reviewer. This direct access to tubing, rafting, and fishing is a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Full Hookups on Most Sites: While waterfront sites have specific regulations, the fact that "all sites have full hookups" (excluding waterfront due to environmental laws) is a major convenience for RV campers. This ensures access to electricity, water, and sewer, making for a very comfortable RV camping experience.
  • Very Clean Bathhouse: The "full super clean bathhouse" is a consistently praised feature. Clean and well-maintained restroom and shower facilities are paramount for campground satisfaction, and Mohawk Park excels in this regard, ensuring a pleasant experience for all campers.
  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Described as a "family friendly and just plain friendly place," the campground cultivates a welcoming environment. This atmosphere makes it suitable for visitors of all ages looking for a relaxed outdoor getaway, fostering a sense of community among campers.
  • Dedicated Fire Rings: The presence of fire rings at all sites allows campers to enjoy traditional campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience for cooking, warmth, and social gathering.
  • Owner Involvement and Responsiveness: One review specifically notes the owner as a "great guy, very involved," who would be "quick to resolve" any issues. This hands-on management can be a significant advantage, indicating a commitment to guest satisfaction and a well-run operation.
  • Personalized Site Allocation: While it can lead to frustration for some, the manual, phone-based booking system allows the owners to "play favorites" (as described by a dissatisfied reviewer) for "families that had been coming for decades." For loyal, returning customers, this personalized approach might be a hidden benefit, ensuring them their preferred sites.

Based on the provided customer reviews and typical campground operations, specific, broadly advertised promotional offers for Mohawk Park Campground are not explicitly detailed. The booking system is noted as relying on phone requests rather than an online platform, which means any special offers are more likely communicated directly during the reservation process.

However, for campgrounds, certain types of promotions or considerations are common, and Massachusetts locals inquiring about a stay might consider:

  • Seasonal or Long-Term Stay Rates: While not explicitly stated, campgrounds often offer reduced nightly rates for extended stays, such as weekly, monthly, or even seasonal bookings. Given the mention of "families that had been coming for decades," there might be established rates or preferred arrangements for long-term loyal customers.
  • Off-Peak Season Discounts: During quieter periods outside the prime summer months (e.g., late spring or early fall), campgrounds may offer lower rates to attract visitors. Inquiring about these periods could lead to savings.
  • Direct Booking Advantages: Since there's "no online booking system," all reservations are handled directly via phone. This direct interaction might provide opportunities to inquire about any unadvertised specials or to discuss specific needs that could influence pricing.
  • Group Rates: For larger groups interested in reserving multiple sites, it's always worth asking if a group discount is available.

To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on any available promotions, specific rates for your desired dates, or to discuss any potential discounts for longer stays or groups, it is highly recommended to directly contact Mohawk Park Campground using the provided phone numbers.
