It’s a place where the creek flows gently, where the air is fresh, and where the scenery truly takes your breath away. Whether you're a family looking for a fun place for kids to splash, an angler hoping to cast a line, or simply someone yearning for a peaceful retreat under the Idaho sky, Meadow Creek Campground offers an idyllic setting that perfectly embodies the spirit of our outdoor-loving community. Meadow Creek Campground is wonderfully situated amidst the natural beauty of Idaho, offering a secluded yet accessible retreat for local outdoor enthusiasts. You'll find this charming spot near Grangeville, ID 83530, USA. This address places it in Idaho County, an area renowned for its vast forests, clear rivers, and abundant recreational opportunities.
While the exact turn-off details might require a local map or forest service guidance, the campground is notably located next to a creek, which is even described as being "restructured for easy salmon passage." This suggests its close proximity to significant waterways and a commitment to preserving natural habitats. Furthermore, it's mentioned that the South Fork of the Clearwater River is "across the highway," indicating that the campground is conveniently located near a major route, likely US-12, which runs through this part of Idaho. This proximity to the highway makes it relatively easy to find and reach, even for those with smaller campers or pop-up tents.
Access to Meadow Creek Campground is generally straightforward for tent campers and those with small campers or pop-up tents. The sites are described as having "small pads" suitable for these types of setups. While there are no hookups, the ease of access from the highway combined with the stunning natural setting makes it a highly appealing destination for a quick getaway or a peaceful longer stay for us Idahoans.
Meadow Creek Campground offers a rustic camping experience with essential amenities, focusing on providing a comfortable base while emphasizing a connection to nature.
Campsites: The campground is small, featuring two dedicated spots for tent camping, and at least one small pad suitable for a small camper or pop-up tent. This limited number of sites contributes to its intimate and peaceful atmosphere.
Picnic Tables: Each camping spot includes a picnic table, providing a convenient and designated area for meal preparation, dining, or simply gathering with your group.
Fire Pits: Fire pits are available at the campsites, allowing campers to enjoy traditional campfires. However, it is absolutely essential to check current fire restrictions and regulations for the area before lighting any fires to ensure safety and compliance with forest service rules.
Outhouse / Toilet: A small outhouse or toilet facility is provided at the campground for basic restroom needs. Visitors should be aware that this is a primitive toilet system, not a flush toilet.
No Running Water: It is important for campers to know that there is no running water available at Meadow Creek Campground. Visitors must bring all their own drinking water for the duration of their stay.
No Trashcans / Pack It In, Pack It Out: There are no trashcans provided at the campground. Meadow Creek operates on a "Pack It In, Pack It Out" policy, meaning all waste, including food scraps and garbage, must be carried out by campers. This helps maintain the pristine condition of the site.
Stunning Natural Scenery: Meadow Creek Campground is consistently praised for its "gorgeous little meadow" and "stunning scenery." The picturesque setting, with the creek flowing nearby and beautiful surrounding landscapes, creates a truly idyllic backdrop for camping.
Peaceful and Quiet Atmosphere: Described as a "tiny paradise," the campground offers a remarkably quiet and peaceful environment. Its small size and rustic nature mean fewer crowds and less noise, making it perfect for relaxation and unwinding in nature.
Creek Access with Salmon Passage Structure: A unique highlight is the creek running alongside the campground, which has been "restructured for easy salmon passage." This not only enhances the natural beauty but also provides an interesting ecological feature and potential for observing wildlife.
Shallow Ponds for Kids: For families, the presence of "shallow ponds for kids to splash in" is a significant draw. This offers a safe and fun way for younger campers to enjoy the water, making it a great family-friendly option despite its rustic nature.
Proximity to South Fork of the Clearwater River: Just across the highway lies the South Fork of the Clearwater River. While direct fishing success isn't guaranteed (as one reviewer noted getting "a few bites from fingerling rainbows" in the stream rather than the river), this major river provides additional opportunities for exploration, fishing, or simply enjoying the larger waterway.
Suitable for Small Campers/Pop-Ups: Unlike many primitive sites, Meadow Creek has a "small pad for a small camper/pop-up tent," making it accessible for those who prefer not to tent camp but still enjoy a rustic experience without full hookups.
Refreshing Creek Water: While the river can be "too cold at night," campers appreciate that their "feet get used to in the daytime," suggesting refreshing water for cooling off on warmer days.

Meadow Creek Campground Reviews
Gorgeous little meadow, small but the scenery is stunning! Looked like there was a small pad for a small camper/pop-up tent. No hookups. Two spots for tent camping, there are fire pits and a picnic table near the creek. There is a small outhouse/toilet. I absolutely love this spot! Tiny paradise!
Jul 05, 2022 · liz northrupGorgeous campground next to a creek restructured for easy salmon passage. We didn't catch any fish in the South Fork of the Clearwater River across the highway, but got a few bites form fingerling rainbows in the stream. There is a restroom, but there's no running water, and no trashcan. It's a really fun place with shallow ponds for kids to splash in. The river's cold, but your feet get used to in the daytime, but it's too cold at night.
Jun 05, 2019 · Hamilton CarterExcellent campground right next to the creek. No fee, and therefore no services like water. There is a pit toilet, picnic tables and fire rings. Only 3 campsites in this beautiful campground, so get there early.
