We had an incredible weekend here. Already planning the next one. Keep in mind you need to be fully supplied when you come in. The only thing they sell here is ice and gasoline. There is a trail near mile marker 2 that i would suggest NOT taking unless you have a 12" lift and massive tires. Sign says 14-18" of water on the trail, but it was over 3 feet in one section. Water splashed up over the hood and bent the piston rods in the sequoia, blowing the engine. Great weekend regardless! - Nik Johnson

Location and Accessibility

Long Point Cabin Camp Office is located on an Unnamed Road, Cedar Island, NC 28520, USA. Its address points to a truly secluded and natural setting, emphasizing its remote and wild charm. Cedar Island itself is a unique barrier island situated at the southern end of the Outer Banks, accessible by ferry or by driving down Highway 12, which dead-ends on the island. This remote location is a significant part of its appeal, offering an authentic escape from bustling tourist areas.

Accessibility to Cedar Island is primarily via the scenic Cedar Island-Ocracoke Ferry, which provides a picturesque journey across Pamlico Sound. While the ferry offers a delightful experience, it's crucial to book your ferry reservations well in advance, especially during peak seasons, as spots can fill up quickly. For those driving onto the island, the route will take you through charming small towns, providing a glimpse into eastern North Carolina's unique culture.

Once on Cedar Island, navigating to the Long Point Cabin Camp Office involves traversing rural roads. It’s important to note that cell service can be spotty in this remote area, so having directions downloaded or printed beforehand is a wise precaution. The cabins themselves are situated near the beach, offering easy access to the stunning coastline, which is often less crowded than more popular Outer Banks destinations. This proximity to the beach is a major draw for visitors looking to enjoy sun, sand, and surf without the typical crowds. While the exact distance to specific amenities on Cedar Island isn't widely detailed, visitors should prepare for a self-sufficient stay, as general stores or major supply outlets are limited on the island.

Services Offered

Long Point Cabin Camp Office offers a minimalist approach to services, aligning with its rustic and self-sufficient philosophy. The focus here is on providing a comfortable base for your outdoor adventures rather than extensive resort-style amenities. Based on available information, including customer reviews, here's what you can expect:

  • Rustic Cabin Accommodations: The primary service offered is the rental of cabins. These are described as basic but comfortable, providing shelter and a place to rest after a day of exploring. Visitors should expect a "cabin" experience, which implies more simple facilities than a hotel.

  • Ice Sales: For your convenience, the office does sell ice. This is a crucial offering for campers, helping to keep food and drinks cold in a remote location where other stores might not be easily accessible.

  • Gasoline Sales: Another essential service provided is the availability of gasoline. Given the remote nature of Cedar Island and the potential for off-road adventures, having an on-site fuel source is incredibly valuable for visitors.

It’s very important to note what is not readily available. Based on customer reviews, visitors should be fully supplied when they arrive. This means bringing all your food, cooking supplies, bedding, and personal necessities. There is no mention of on-site restaurants, extensive general stores, or typical campground amenities like bathhouses with hot showers or laundry facilities that are common in more developed RV parks. One review specifically mentions "please take ur electric fan and supply," indicating that even basic comforts like fans may not be standard in the cabins. This reinforces the need for self-sufficiency.

Features / Highlights

Long Point Cabin Camp Office stands out for its unique features and highlights, which appeal to a specific type of outdoor enthusiast seeking an authentic and unvarnished coastal experience in North Carolina.

  • Secluded Coastal Location: The absolute highlight is its position on Cedar Island, offering unparalleled peace and quiet away from commercialized tourist hubs. This provides a genuine sense of escape and immersion in nature.

  • Proximity to the Beach: The cabins are described as being "near the beach," meaning easy and direct access to the beautiful, uncrowded shores of Cedar Island. This is perfect for long walks, shell collecting, fishing, and simply enjoying the vastness of the Atlantic.

  • Rustic Cabin Experience: For those who appreciate simplicity and a more rugged approach to lodging, the rustic cabins are a key feature. They offer a comfortable, yet basic, base from which to explore, allowing visitors to truly disconnect.

  • Off-Road Exploration Opportunities: The surrounding area, including potentially challenging trails, offers exciting opportunities for off-road enthusiasts. As one review points out, some trails require significant vehicle modifications (e.g., "12" lift and massive tires"), promising adventurous drives for the prepared.

  • Incredible Weekend Getaways: Customer reviews consistently highlight "incredible weekends" and plans for future visits, indicating that the unique environment fosters memorable experiences, particularly for those who come prepared for the rustic nature of the place.

  • Direct Sales of Essentials (Ice & Gasoline): While other supplies are not available, the on-site sale of ice and gasoline is a critical convenience in such a remote location, ensuring visitors can keep their provisions cool and their vehicles fueled for exploration.

  • Family-Friendly Environment (with preparedness): Reviews mention "nice weekend spend with kids," suggesting that with adequate planning and supplies, it can be a rewarding destination for families seeking an adventurous coastal experience.

Promotions or Special Offers

Given the rustic and somewhat self-sufficient nature of Long Point Cabin Camp Office, it's less likely to have traditional "promotions" in the same vein as larger, more resort-style campgrounds. The value proposition here is in the unique, remote coastal experience rather than discounted rates or package deals. However, it’s always recommended to check directly for any seasonal offerings.

  • Seasonal Availability: While not a promotion, understanding the seasonal availability is key. Due to its coastal location, the peak season for visits is typically spring through fall. Off-season visits might offer more solitude and potentially different rates, if any are offered.

  • Longer Stay Discounts (Possible): Some remote cabin camps might offer slight discounts for extended stays (e.g., weekly rates versus nightly), encouraging visitors to fully immerse themselves in the environment. It is advisable to inquire about this directly when booking.

  • Group Booking Considerations: If planning a trip with multiple families or a larger group, it might be worth asking if any special arrangements or rates can be made for booking multiple cabins, though this is not publicly advertised.

Because the Long Point Cabin Camp Office operates with a focus on providing a unique, basic service in a remote location, the best "promotion" is often the unparalleled access to nature and tranquility it offers. Any specific deals would typically be communicated directly through their booking channels. Therefore, your best course of action is to contact them directly when planning your trip to inquire about any current or upcoming offers.
