Log Haven Campgrounds

RR 26, Errol, NH 03579, USA

3.0
This owner Carol is just a terrible person. Very rude, and does not know how to operate a campground. There is a reason this campground is never full and all the other campgrounds in the area are thriving during peak season. We had stayed for a weekend recently to go atving in the area. We had a horrible experience the second night (Saturday)We came back late from riding all day and a little wet from the sudden rain fall. The first thing we did back at the site was lite a campfire. Apparently it was a little higher than what was allowed. Carol the owner drives her tractor over to our site to scream at us for having a high campfire. Which burned down fairly low quickly as she was trying to point out the fire herself. She was swearing and just absolutely freaking out. Yelling at us to put the fire completely out. She then went on to tell us we had to leave the campground. All she had to do was tell us once to keep it low and that would have been the end of it. We were trying to reason with her that we would keep the fire low. She wasn’t having it. I could clearly see she was intoxicated. We were blown away by what was happening. So unprofessional and just disgusting behavior on her part. We finally convinced her that packing up in the dark and leaving wasn’t reasonable. She then said you have two choices then. Either stay in your trailer for the rest of the night or go home now.We said we will stay inside and leave in the morning. She responded by saying “yeah and early too”She really has no business trying to run that place. She is awful and rude. This place deserves to have new ownership. Till then it will be run into the ground with an owner like that. - Joel Smith

For those of us who call New Hampshire home, the call of the Great North Woods is a familiar and enticing one. This rugged, untamed region of our state offers unparalleled opportunities for outdoor adventure, from vast stretches of dense forest to sparkling rivers and a vibrant wildlife scene. Deep within this captivating landscape, in the charming town of Errol, lies Log Haven Campgrounds. This destination has long been known as a gateway to the region's incredible trail systems, drawing in adventurers seeking to explore the wilderness on ATVs, snowmobiles, or simply on foot.

Log Haven Campgrounds prides itself on offering a quiet and scenic setting, a peaceful respite after a day of exploring the expansive New Hampshire outdoors. While it may not always be bustling with crowds, its appeal often lies in this very tranquility, providing a more intimate connection with nature. For locals who appreciate the less-traveled path and direct access to their favorite outdoor pursuits, Log Haven presents a compelling option. It's a place where the fresh air, towering trees, and the promise of encountering local wildlife become the main attractions.

The experience at any campground is, of course, shaped by many factors, including the natural environment, available amenities, and the overall atmosphere fostered by its management. Log Haven's primary draw is undeniably its location and its direct ties to the region's impressive network of trails, making it a strategic base for those passionate about motorsports and other wilderness activities. Understanding the offerings of such a place from a local's perspective means looking beyond the surface and considering what truly matters for a New Hampshire outdoor adventure.

Location and Accessibility

Log Haven Campgrounds is located at RR 26, Errol, NH 03579, USA. This address places it squarely within the heart of New Hampshire's Great North Woods, a region renowned for its vast wilderness and extensive trail systems. Errol, a small town in northern New Hampshire, serves as a crucial hub for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those involved in ATV riding, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing.

The campground's location on Route 26 provides relatively straightforward access for visitors traveling from various parts of New Hampshire and beyond. Route 26 itself is a scenic byway that connects to major routes like Route 16, which runs north-south through much of the state's eastern side. For those driving from southern New Hampshire, the journey typically involves heading north on I-93 or I-95, connecting to Route 16 North, and then transitioning to Route 26 West towards Errol. While the Great North Woods feels remote, its main arteries are well-maintained, making the drive manageable for RVs and vehicles towing trailers.

A significant advantage of Log Haven's location is its "direct trail access." This is a key feature for ATV and snowmobile enthusiasts, meaning they can ride directly from their campsite onto hundreds of miles of designated trails without needing to trailer their machines elsewhere. This convenience is a major draw for locals who want to maximize their time on the trails. Additionally, the surrounding area offers unlimited hiking opportunities and is known for its abundant wildlife, including moose, making it a prime spot for nature observation. Dixville Notch State Park, famous for its scenic beauty and unique rock formations, is also just a short drive away, adding to the list of accessible attractions.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the available public information, specific, regularly advertised promotions or special offers for Log Haven Campgrounds are not widely detailed. Most information pertains to general rates for their various site types (tent, hookup, full hookup). Given its nature as a more rustic, trail-oriented campground in a somewhat remote region, promotions might be less common compared to larger, more amenity-rich resorts.

However, it is always advisable for potential campers to:

  • Contact them directly: Call Log Haven Campgrounds at (603) 482-3294 to inquire about any current deals, off-season rates, or discounts for extended stays. Seasonal operations may influence pricing.

  • Check their official website: While limited publicly, a direct website or social media page might list current specials that are not widely disseminated on third-party review sites.

Due to the nature of the reviews mentioning a lack of consistent management and customer service, it is highly recommended to confirm all booking details, pricing, and any special requests directly with the campground prior to arrival.

For residents of New Hampshire, particularly those in search of an authentic North Woods experience, Log Haven Campgrounds presents a unique, albeit perhaps raw, opportunity. While some public reviews highlight significant concerns regarding customer service and management, focusing solely on the factual information and the potential the location offers reveals why it could still be a suitable choice for certain local adventurers.

The undeniable strength of Log Haven is its unparalleled access to the vast trail networks that crisscross the Great North Woods. For New Hampshire locals who own ATVs or snowmobiles, the ability to ride directly from their campsite onto hundreds, even thousands, of miles of trails is a game-changer. This direct access saves time and effort, maximizing their time doing what they love. Many New Englanders cherish these motorized recreational activities, and Log Haven's location caters directly to this passion in a way few other campgrounds can.

Beyond the trails, the campground’s setting in Errol means it's steeped in the natural beauty that defines New Hampshire. Locals who appreciate solitude, wildlife viewing, and the simple pleasures of being immersed in the forest will find the environment appealing. The peace and quiet, coupled with opportunities for hiking, fishing, and exploring nearby natural landmarks like Dixville Notch, align with the desires of many New Hampshire outdoor enthusiasts seeking a genuine wilderness experience close to home.

For those who prioritize location and access to specific outdoor pursuits over extensive amenities or polished customer service, Log Haven Campgrounds fills a particular niche. It caters to the hardy individual or group looking for a base camp from which to launch their North Woods adventures. While recent reviews suggest a need for improved hospitality, the fundamental appeal of its setting and direct trail connectivity remains a strong draw for a specific segment of the local camping community who understand the unique characteristics of this wild and beautiful part of New Hampshire. It's a place for those who are self-sufficient and value the rugged beauty of the landscape above all else, making it a true "log haven" for North Woods enthusiasts.
