For us Mainers, Lobster Buoy Campsite represents a quintessential coastal camping experience. We understand and appreciate the charm of a rustic setting, the beauty of a quiet beach, and the allure of direct ocean access. This isn't a place for those seeking resort-style amenities or constant entertainment; it's a sanctuary for those who want to truly unplug and immerse themselves in the natural splendor of our coastline. The ability to kayak directly from your campsite, witness stunning sunrises over the water, and be part of a community of friendly, returning campers makes it uniquely appealing.
While some operational policies, such as the stance on RV air conditioning or dog policies, might require direct clarification and may not suit everyone's preferences, these elements are often part of maintaining the "old school" character that many locals cherish. The immediate feedback about the helpfulness of the management when making last-minute bookings, and the sense of safety and community, speaks volumes. Lobster Buoy Campsite Reviews
Wanted to book and travel quite a bit to have this location but with a rule of not being allowed to use built in air conditioning in our RV is absolutely too old school. An outlook of old school is hindering because new RV air conditioners run quietly. Just Make your campground an “only tents”campground because asking us to not use air conditioning is wrong as RV rigs do not circulate well without air running…I believe the campground management is not being honest, it’s about “using” their electricity. Just up your price. Please don’t say you’re going to not allow dogs like other campgrounds that I’d just a threat before even exploring your campground. Just say violent and aggressive breeds frowned upon. Advertise socialized loving dogs only allowed can come and stay. Sad day for me. I won’t be booking. To ask to send in a non refundable deposit is rude from the start as well. Just set up a cut off date for us to get a full refund by as plans can change.I have two fluffy adorable small labradoodles lol They ask 1 dog per site which is cool but I have two adorable lovable friendly socialized doggies. We are neat freaks about cleaning up their #2’s.
Jun 10, 2025 · Eleanor LitwinetzA little hidden gem on the mid coast of Maine. If you’re looking for high end glamping, this isn’t for you. It’s a rustic and beautiful old school place. The campground is very small and quiet, set on a beautiful beach. The tent sites are very small, but have the best view in the campground. It’s a great place to kayak. We’ve seen the blood moon over the water two nights in a row, beautiful sun rises and sunsets, and even several rainbows. The bath house is a tad outdated but worked perfectly for my needs and I have no complaints. I was able to make a very last minute spontaneous solo reservation, due to a cancellation by someone else. Jennie answered my email inquiring about booking, and promptly answered a few questions I had. Immediately upon arriving, I was greeted by wonderful and kind repeat campers who ended up becoming friends. The folks camping here have been coming for many years and have made it a special yearly trip. It feels remote but also very safe. There is also lots to do in nearby areas as well. I can’t wait to return, but next time with my camper.
Aug 03, 2023 · DianaLee HirtThis campsite is small, inexpensive, and has wonderful views and location. We managed to get a reservation last minute and the front desk lady was super nice and helpful. This campsite has everything you need, clean toilets, running water for washing, and gorgeous views of nature and the beach. We camped right on the beach and had a wonderful time. They weren’t selling firewood so we did have to drive a little bit to find someone that was selling. Also, if you are staying here, you have to try McLoons Lobster shack, it’s right down the road and it’s fantastic!
Jul 10, 2021 · Megan ShoemakerWhat a great hidden gem! The owners are very nice and knowledgeable about where to get supplies.Found this place by sheer luck, can't complain about anything here. The view from the tent site was amazing. Where else can you get beach front access at a reasonable price.Recommend too all.
