For those of us in Minnesota who cherish a classic camping experience surrounded by natural beauty, Lakeview Campground, nestled within the beloved Sibley State Park, offers a picturesque lakeside escape. Situated on the shores of Lake Andrew, this campground provides a quintessential Minnesota outdoor adventure, complete with shaded sites and convenient access to water activities. While some visitors have noted the busy and sometimes close-knit nature of the sites, the overall appeal lies in its prime location and natural setting. As one camper put it, the "pluses are it's shaded and on the lake and the appeal is the beach is next door." Another highlighted the friendly atmosphere, noting a "nice small community. great people. all on a beautiful lake."
It's important to note that Lakeview Campground has recently undergone significant renovations, a project spearheaded by the Minnesota DNR's "Get Out MORE" investment. These improvements, which concluded in May 2025, have modernized facilities, addressed accessibility needs, and enhanced the overall camper experience, making it even more appealing for Minnesota families and outdoor enthusiasts. This commitment to improvement ensures that Lakeview Campground continues to offer a relevant and enjoyable camping experience for years to come.

The recent renovations have specifically focused on improving roadways within the campground and making sites more accessible, including designated handicap-accessible sites, ensuring a more comfortable experience for a wider range of visitors.

Lakeview Campground Reviews
The very busy campground is extremely cramped. The sites are right in top of each other, some sights are not level. The inner rings look horribly packed in. Some of the outer rings look ok but many are right on the road. There are just 2 little bathrooms building on both ends of this campground for all these campers. The pluses are it's shaded and on the lake an the appeal is the beach is next door.

Sep 02, 2023 · KAREN SWANSONVery nice campground - small spots - no water on site. Showers available.
Jul 19, 2022 · Stephanie SpryHad an excellent stay here. The kids loved swimming in lake Andrew which was just a short little walk from our camp site. We enjoyed bird watching and seeing the fireflies at night! Make sure to keep your food safe here as a raccoon came into our campsite while we were still sitting by the fire late in the evening. There is a beach store that sells things you may have forgotten and ice cream. Facilities were well-maintained and everyone we spoke to was friendly. We would be happy to come back!
