Knoppers Ford

Forest Service Rd 19, Booneville, AR 72927, USA

4.0
The thing about knoppers Ford is its nature. It does have a bathroom. It is very primitive and Backwoods at this site . at one time it had a lot of WPA works, specifically Stone. At one time they had little screen houses for camping but those are all gone now. You are not allowed to camp at knoppers Ford because of the danger of flash flooding. The Rock and pools here vary from very full and flowing to a trickle depending on the time of the year. It is absolutely one of my favorite places. - Robin Y

Nestled within the scenic landscapes near Booneville, this unique recreation area offers a blend of natural beauty, historical charm, and opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. While widely known as a "campground" in its historical context, it's crucial for local users to understand its current designation primarily as a day-use facility due to environmental considerations. This article aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging overview of Knoppers Ford, highlighting why it's a perfect spot for Arkansans to connect with the great outdoors.

Knoppers Ford, situated along the picturesque Sugar Creek, has a rich history, with much of its original infrastructure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the Great Depression. This legacy is evident in the charming, rustic stone work that can still be admired throughout the area, a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the WPA (Works Progress Administration) era.
