Imagine waking up to the gentle lapping of waves against the shore and stepping out of your tent or RV to a breathtaking vista of Green Bay. Kleinke County Park delivers this serene experience, creating a memorable backdrop for your outdoor adventures. It’s a place where families can enjoy a playground, relax on the sandy beach, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being by the water. While it presents some characteristics typical of a natural, less developed campground, its charm lies in its untouched beauty and the raw, immersive experience it offers to those who are prepared.
For us Michiganders, finding a camping spot that combines stunning scenery with accessible outdoor activities is key. Kleinke County Park, with its direct lake access and natural setting, fits this bill perfectly. It's a reminder of the wild and beautiful landscapes that define our Upper Peninsula, making it an excellent choice for a local escape, especially for those looking to embrace a more rustic camping style.
Kleinke County Park is located at N-8390 County Park Rd, Stephenson, MI 49887, USA. This position places it along M-35, approximately 13 miles north of Menominee, in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Its direct location on the Bay of Green Bay provides campers with immediate access to stunning water views and the opportunity to experience lakeside camping firsthand.
For Michigan residents, reaching Kleinke County Park typically involves a scenic drive through the UP. While the park offers a sense of remoteness and natural immersion, it remains accessible via well-traveled state and county roads. Being a county park, it is generally well-signed, guiding visitors efficiently to their destination. However, it's worth noting that while the park is on a main highway (M-35), some campers have reported awareness of "Jake brakes" from passing trucks, which is common for campgrounds situated near major routes.
Despite being in a more rural setting, the drive is part of the UP experience, leading you to a peaceful retreat. It's important for RV campers to be aware that while the location is beautiful, some sites are primarily sand. This means preparing your vehicle with appropriate leveling blocks or plywood to prevent sinking, as some visitors have experienced. However, the direct waterfront access and beautiful views make the journey and any necessary setup considerations well worth it for many Michiganders.
- Electric Campsites: The campground offers 30 electric campsites, providing 20/30/50 AMP service. This is a crucial amenity for RV and modern camper users, allowing for comfortable stays with power.
- Non-Electric/Primitive Sites: While electric sites are available, it's implied some sites might be non-electric, catering to tent campers or those preferring a more rustic experience. It's important to confirm availability for specific types of sites.

- Camper Sanitation Station: An RV dump station is available for convenient waste disposal, essential for RV campers.
- Carry-in Boat Launch: The park offers a carry-in boat launch, allowing visitors to easily launch small boats, kayaks, or canoes directly into Green Bay.
- Playground: A playground area is available for children, making it a family-friendly camping destination.
- Picnic Area and Pavilion: Designated picnic areas and a pavilion offer spaces for day use and gatherings.
- Ice and Firewood for Purchase: Ice and firewood are available for purchase on-site, adding convenience for campers.
- Online Reservation System: All sites at Kleinke Park are now by reservation only. Reservations can be made online through Menominee County's online reservation system, and same-day reservations are possible if a site is available.
- Gorgeous Scenery and Bay Views: The most frequently highlighted feature is the "gorgeous views of the Bay" and its "beautiful" scenery. With 13 sites located directly on the shore of Green Bay, campers can enjoy stunning waterfront vistas.
- Direct Lake Michigan Access: Campers have easy access to the water for wading, swimming, and relaxing on the beach. There's also a sandy beach to enjoy.

Kleinke County Park Reviews
After spending a night here, I am reviewing to one star. While the scenery is gorgeous, the mosquitoes are horrendous. You cannot go outside. I had to move my van this morning because of sand causing it to sink and lean over. There are no RV pads and most of the sites are sand. It cost a dollar for 8 minutes of a shower, I don't know who can take a shower in 8 minutes. And spending $25 for a night and $20 for a parking fee, then a dollar for 8 minutes for a shower and the mosquitoes ( say nothing about the Jake brakes in the night driving by on the highway), I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I'm thoroughly disgusted. I can't wait to leave tomorrow morning.
Jun 05, 2025 · Eva DoubleuLet's start filling the pot holes on the road. Campers take a pounding when the pot holes are that big. You have 2 workers just sitting in the garage all the time. Make them get some gravel and fill the holes
