Kiwanis Campground stands out as a "pretty sweet little retreat" for several compelling reasons. Its primary appeal lies in its exclusivity – being a single-group spot, it offers unparalleled privacy for your gathering. Imagine having an entire scenic area to yourselves, where the only sounds are the gentle murmur of Mann Creek and the rustling leaves. This makes it an ideal location for family reunions, friendly get-togethers, or simply a peaceful escape where you can truly relax without the distractions of neighboring campers.
For those who love the traditional camping experience, Kiwanis Campground is perfectly suited for tents. While RVs are not accommodated, this ensures a more rustic and authentic outdoor adventure. The space is generous, comfortably fitting "up to 3 to 4 tents depending on their size, maybe more if your tents are a smaller size," allowing for flexible arrangements for your group. This focus on tent camping enhances the feeling of being truly immersed in nature, making it a favorite for many Idahoans who cherish the simplicity of pitching a tent and enjoying the outdoors.
The "very picturesque" scenery around Kiwanis Campground is a constant delight, ensuring that "the scenery did not disappoint." Kiwanis Campground is more than just a place to sleep; it’s a destination where the focus is on connection – with nature and with loved ones. Its serene environment by Mann Creek fosters a sense of calm and well-being, making it an excellent choice for a much-needed break from the daily grind. This hidden gem invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the simple pleasures of Idaho’s great outdoors. It’s a testament to the beauty that lies within our own state, waiting to be discovered and cherished by those who call Idaho home.
Kiwanis Campground is conveniently located in the scenic region of Washington County, with its address being Weiser, ID 83672, USA. This places it within easy reach for many Idaho residents, offering a quick escape to nature without an excessively long drive. The campground is nestled "in the rolling hills of Washington County," providing a picturesque setting that feels both accessible and wonderfully secluded.
Being situated near Mann Creek is a significant aspect of its location. The creek "butt's up to the campground," providing not only a soothing natural soundtrack but also a charming visual element to the camping experience. This proximity to the water enhances the tranquility of the site, making it ideal for those who appreciate the calming sounds of nature.
Access to Kiwanis Campground is generally straightforward for tent campers. As described by visitors, it’s a "cute little spot to stop" for those exploring the Mann Creek area. While specific road conditions aren't detailed as challenging as some remote sites, campers should always exercise caution on unpaved or rural roads, especially during varying weather conditions. However, the overall impression is of a readily accessible location for a quiet retreat.
It's important to note the campground's unique characteristic of being "only one spot." This means it caters to a single group at a time, ensuring maximum privacy and exclusivity for your family or friends. This design emphasizes a private retreat experience rather than a large, multi-site public campground. While this is a major advantage for privacy, it also means that reservations or checking for availability in advance is highly recommended to secure your desired dates.
The location in Washington County also offers opportunities to explore the wider region. Weiser, known for its National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest, is a charming town nearby, providing a chance to stock up on supplies or enjoy local amenities before heading to the peaceful solitude of Kiwanis Campground. The combination of easy access, a secluded setting, and proximity to local services makes Kiwanis Campground a well-situated option for a refreshing Idaho camping trip.
Kiwanis Campground offers a set of basic, yet essential, services designed to provide a comfortable and traditional tent camping experience, with a strong emphasis on privacy and natural immersion. Here’s what visitors can expect:
- Exclusive Single-Group Site: One of the most significant "services" Kiwanis Campground provides is its dedication as a single, private camping spot. This means your group will have the entire area to yourselves, ensuring privacy and an undisturbed experience without neighboring campers. This is a rare and highly valued feature for those seeking solitude.
- Tent-Only Camping: The campground is specifically designed for tent camping. While RVs are not permitted, this allows for a more authentic and quiet camping environment, free from the noise and generators sometimes associated with larger vehicles. The spot can accommodate "up to 3 to 4 tents depending on their size, maybe more if your tents are a smaller size," offering flexibility for various group sizes.
- Access to Mann Creek: A key amenity is the campground's immediate proximity to Mann Creek. The creek "butt's up to the campground," providing a soothing natural soundscape and easy access for enjoying the water. This natural feature enhances the relaxing atmosphere of the site.
- Basic Restroom Facility (Outhouse): For convenience, the campground is equipped with an outhouse. While one review noted it "could be cleaned a little more," the presence of a dedicated restroom facility is a practical service for campers in a natural setting. Visitors should bring their own supplies for personal hygiene.
- Picturesque Scenery: While not a tangible service, the "very picturesque" and "scenery did not disappoint" aspect of the campground is a major offering. The beautiful natural surroundings contribute significantly to the overall enjoyment and relaxation of visitors, providing a stunning backdrop for outdoor activities and downtime.
- Space for Gathering: As a single, large spot, the campground inherently offers ample space for "family and friends to gather." This includes room for setting up multiple tents, a campfire area (where permitted and safe), and general recreational space for group activities.
- Quiet and Peaceful Environment: The secluded nature and tent-only policy contribute to a predominantly quiet and peaceful environment. This "service" of tranquility is highly valued by those looking to escape urban noise and truly unwind in nature.
Kiwanis Campground boasts several distinctive features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for a specific type of outdoor enthusiast, particularly locals in Idaho seeking a serene and private getaway:

Kiwanis Campground is dedicated to one group at a time, providing unparalleled privacy and allowing family and friends to enjoy their gathering without interruption from other campers. This unique setup creates a truly personal and intimate outdoor experience.
- Idyllic Mann Creek Frontage: The close proximity to Mann Creek is a major draw. The "pleasant and relaxing sound" of the creek is a constant, soothing backdrop, enhancing the tranquility of the campground. It also offers opportunities for creek-side relaxation, exploration, and enjoying the natural waterway.
- Dedicated Tent Camping Area: For traditional campers, the fact that Kiwanis is a tent-only site is a key feature. This design fosters a more rustic and quiet camping atmosphere, appealing to those who prefer the simplicity and immersion of sleeping under canvas. The ample space accommodates multiple tents comfortably.
- Picturesque Washington County Scenery: Visitors consistently praise the "very picturesque" scenery, noting that the "scenery did not disappoint." The campground is nestled in the rolling hills, offering beautiful views and a visually appealing environment for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
- Secluded and Peaceful Ambiance: Despite being relatively accessible, Kiwanis Campground maintains a strong sense of seclusion and peace. This quiet environment is a significant highlight for those looking to escape the noise and crowds often found at larger, more popular campgrounds.
- Potential for Wildlife Observation: While not explicitly mentioned in reviews beyond the general natural setting, remote areas by creeks in Idaho often offer opportunities for bird watching and observing local wildlife, enhancing the natural experience.
- Authentic Outdoor Experience: Kiwanis offers a return to a more authentic, less commercialized camping experience. Without the amenities of larger resorts, it encourages self-reliance and a deeper connection with the natural environment, appealing to true outdoor enthusiasts.

The "tent-only" policy is another feature that makes it highly suitable for locals. Many Idahoans grew up camping in tents, appreciating the direct connection to the ground, the sounds of nature, and the simplicity of life under canvas. Kiwanis caters directly to this preference, ensuring a traditional and immersive outdoor adventure. The ample space, capable of accommodating multiple tents, makes it practical for multi-family outings or larger friend groups, a common occurrence in our community-oriented state.
The location itself, nestled in the rolling hills of Washington County and right by Mann Creek, is quintessentially Idaho. Locals appreciate the natural beauty of their surroundings, and the picturesque scenery at Kiwanis provides a constant reminder of why we love living here. The soothing sound of Mann Creek is a natural amenity that enhances relaxation and encourages a slower pace of life, something many Idahoans crave after a busy week.
While the review mentioning "trash, beer cans, broken glass and nails" is concerning, it serves as a powerful reminder for locals to uphold the strong outdoor ethics ingrained in Idaho culture. This is an opportunity for Idahoans to demonstrate responsible stewardship, ensuring that this "cute little spot" remains pristine and enjoyable for everyone. By practicing Leave No Trace principles, locals can actively contribute to preserving this beautiful resource, making it an even more suitable and sustainable destination for years to come.
In essence, Kiwanis Campground offers Idahoans a private, picturesque, and peaceful sanctuary for traditional tent camping. Jul 12, 2020 · Karen DonderoCute little spot to stop while riding through manns creek, how ever because some people do NOT respect anything it is covered in trash, beer cans, broken glass and nails. Sad people have to ruin such nice areas.
Mar 24, 2022 · Mellissa CoonI agree with Melissa. What a treat to have a nice spot to stop. It has a biffy, fire ring, and a creek near by. What a shame that people don’t respect things, and leave such a mess. How hard is it to pick up your onion skins and put in a sack. Put the empty pop cans in your car and cigarette butts. Why would you shoot up a sign that doesn’t belong to you.? We won’t enjoy this spot much longer, because it’s possible that the National Forest or Kiwanis organization will close it. Pick up after yourself AND PACK IT OUT!!!!
May 27, 2022 · LoriHad several great camping adventures in this spot . Memories for a lifetime with many good people and at many different times in my life ...
