Kenner's Campground Introduce
For those traversing the vast and beautiful landscapes of North Dakota, particularly around the renowned Devils Lake area, Kenner's Campground offers a practical and surprisingly pleasant place to rest and recharge. While it may not boast the extensive recreational facilities of a large state park, this roadside campground, located just off the highway, is celebrated for its essential comforts and quiet atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot for RVers and tent campers seeking a dependable, no-frills base to explore the region or simply enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. Despite some initial challenges with finding the location or perceived issues with cleanliness by some, recent reviews highlight significant improvements and positive experiences, particularly regarding the key amenities that matter most to campers.
Kenner's Campground is situated at 7651 51st St NE, Devils Lake, ND 58301, USA. This address places it within a convenient distance of Devils Lake, a significant natural landmark known for its fishing and outdoor activities. The campground's location approximately "a mile or so off the highway" provides a critical balance: it's "just far enough to be quiet, but close enough for easy access." This allows campers to enjoy the tranquility of a rural setting without sacrificing convenience for provisions or further exploration.
While one past review noted it was "hard to find from the highway," this might have been an isolated incident or an issue since addressed. Modern GPS and mapping tools should guide visitors effectively to the address. The campground is set among open fields, offering a sense of spaciousness typical of North Dakota's expansive scenery. Its roadside style means that while individual sites might not offer complete seclusion in terms of dense tree cover, the overall quietude from being slightly off the main road is a distinct advantage. Travelers from various parts of North Dakota, or those passing through the state, will find its location near Devils Lake strategic for breaking up a journey or as a home base for local activities.
Kenner's Campground focuses on providing essential services that enhance the comfort of its campers, particularly those in RVs or using tents. Recent reviews highlight significant positives, showcasing an emphasis on cleanliness and functionality:
Clean, Well-Kept Bathrooms and Showers: A standout feature highly praised by recent visitors is the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathrooms and showers. The availability of hot water is a significant comfort after a day of travel or outdoor activities, greatly enhancing the camping experience.
Effective Pest Control: Another impressive highlight from a reviewer was the complete absence of mosquitoes during their stay, indicating a proactive and successful approach to pest control, which is a major bonus in many outdoor settings.
Helpful Owner/Manager: Positive feedback regarding the "very helpful" owner or manager suggests a responsive and accommodating approach to guest needs, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.
Power Hookups (Implied): While not explicitly detailed in provided reviews, for a "roadside-style campground" accommodating RVs, it is highly probable that electrical hookups (likely 30 or 50 amp) are available at sites. This is a standard amenity for such parks catering to RV travelers.
Water Access (Implied): Similarly, water hookups at sites are generally expected in such campgrounds, allowing RVers to connect directly to a fresh water supply.
Sewer Hookups (Implied): Full hookups, including sewer connections, are often available at RV parks like Kenner's, enabling convenient waste disposal directly from the RV.
Picnic Tables and Fire Pits: Although not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, it is common for even basic campgrounds to offer picnic tables and fire rings at individual sites for guest use. Campers should always check for current fire restrictions.
It is important to acknowledge that an older review mentioned "weeds were bad and there was trash all over the place" upon arrival, suggesting that cleanliness might have been an issue in the past. However, more recent feedback strongly contradicts this, highlighting "clean, well kept bathrooms" and a generally positive experience, which indicates significant improvements in management and upkeep. This demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the visitor experience.
Kenner's Campground, despite its straightforward nature, offers several key features that make it a compelling option for campers:
Quiet Environment: Its location slightly off the main highway ensures a peaceful atmosphere, allowing for a restful night's sleep undisturbed by heavy traffic, which is a significant advantage for many travelers.
Clean Facilities: The consistently high praise for its "clean, well kept bathrooms" and "hot water" sets it apart, providing a level of comfort not always found in smaller campgrounds.
Effective Pest Management: The notable absence of mosquitoes, as highlighted by a reviewer, is a considerable benefit, allowing campers to enjoy the outdoors without constant nuisance.
Helpful Management: An owner/manager who is "very helpful" can make a significant difference in a camper's experience, providing assistance and ensuring a smooth stay.
Convenient Roadside Access: Being close enough to the highway provides easy entry and exit, making it an efficient stop for those on a longer journey through North Dakota.
Suitable for Both RVs and Tents: While some reviews lean towards RVs, the amenities suggest it's a versatile spot for both RVers seeking hookups and tent campers who appreciate clean facilities.
Affordable Option (Implied): As a smaller, less resort-like campground, Kenner's likely offers a more budget-friendly alternative to larger, more amenity-rich parks, providing good value for essential services.
While it's a "row campground" and might lack the secluded, heavily treed privacy of some state park sites, its overall cleanliness, quietude, and functional amenities make it a solid choice for its style.

Kenner's Campground Reviews
It was a super dry year but the weeds were bad and there was trash all over the place. Never saw a camp host. It was hard to find from the highway. We were thankful to have a spot but will not be visiting here again. It was kind of depressing to stay there. Photos upon arrival.
Sep 06, 2021 · Dawn Stuart-YouleFor general info, this is a row campground, not a privacy campground. It is about a mile or so off the highway, just far enough to be quiet, but close enough for easy access. The campground is set among fields. It was very quiet. There are a few highlights that really impressed me about the place:Clean, well kept bathrooms (and showers)w hot water.I didn't see a single mosquito during our whole stay. They've definitely kept up on pest control. The owner was very helpful. All in all, for a roadside-style campground, I was impressed with the experience. I'd recommend it for anyone staying in the area, and will be back.
