3.0
I’m kept campground. Tall weeds everywhere never seen a weed eater. Picnic tables so old afraid to sit in and get splinters. Oldest pit toilets I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen hundreds. No water really no water! Approximately 10 sites with fire rings. Some traffic noise. 10$ nightly. Notice that they want to raise the fee, question is what have they been doing with the 10$ fee the last 10 years certainly not putting it back in maintenance. I would not stay again. - Double D

Location and Accessibility

Hinman Park Campground is strategically located off USFS Road 440E in Clark, CO 80428, USA, providing a sense of seclusion that many campers actively seek. Its position past the trailhead for the South Fork of the Elk River suggests a setting deep within the forest, away from major thoroughfares. This remote feel is a significant advantage for those desiring a tranquil environment where the sounds of nature prevail over human activity. While it's off the main tourist radar, this very fact contributes to its appeal as a less crowded alternative.

Accessing Hinman Park involves navigating USFS Road 440E. As with many forest roads, conditions can vary, so it's advisable to check current road status, especially outside of peak summer months or after inclement weather. The journey to the campground is part of the adventure, leading you into the serene and undeveloped areas of Routt National Forest. While it might require a little more intentional navigation than some larger, more established campgrounds, the reward is a truly private and peaceful camping experience.

Services Offered

  • Basic Campsites with Fire Rings: Hinman Park Campground offers approximately 10 designated sites, each equipped with a fire ring, allowing campers to enjoy traditional campfires for cooking or warmth (always check for fire restrictions before lighting a fire). These fundamental provisions support the core camping experience.
  • Spaced-Out Sites: A notable feature is the generous spacing between individual campsites. This provides a desirable level of privacy and a sense of solitude, allowing campers to enjoy their immediate surroundings without feeling crowded by neighbors.

Campers must bring all the water they will need for drinking, cooking, and hygiene purposes. This requires advance planning and preparation but contributes to the campground's untouched feel.
