Florahome, nestled in Putnam County, offers a rural setting, surrounded by beautiful state forests, lakes, and springs. High Vibes PMA capitalizes on this natural environment, providing spaces where you can truly immerse yourself in nature. While it’s designed for those who value tranquility and a less structured camping environment, it does offer essential amenities. This isn't your average resort-style RV park; it’s a place for those who prefer dispersed camping among the trees, with the freedom to explore walking paths and enjoy abundant wildlife. It's particularly appealing to pet owners, as it welcomes well-behaved dogs with unique freedom.
In this article, we’ll delve into what makes High Vibes PMA a unique consideration for your next Florida camping trip. We'll cover its location and the type of accessibility to expect, given its rural setting. We’ll detail the services offered, focusing on their unique approach to amenities. Furthermore, we’ll highlight its special features that set it apart from conventional campgrounds, especially for locals seeking something different. Our goal is to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview that helps you decide if High Vibes PMA aligns with your adventurous spirit and desire for a peaceful, natural Florida escape.
Please note: As a private membership association operating on a shared private easement, High Vibes PMA has generated some neighbor complaints regarding legality, insurance, and potential code violations. While this article aims to provide factual information based on publicly available data, prospective visitors are strongly advised to conduct their own thorough research into the current legal and operational status of the property, including checking for any updated county regulations or civil actions, before planning a visit. The information presented here is based on the park's own descriptions and general reviews, but the noted public concerns should be a primary consideration for any potential guest.
High Vibes PMA is located at 154 Turkey Trot Rd, Florahome, FL 32140, USA, in Putnam County. This places it in a rural part of North Central Florida, characterized by dense forests, numerous lakes, and Florida's unique scrubland. Florahome itself is a small, unincorporated community, which means the campground is truly set apart from urban centers, offering a genuine sense of seclusion and immersion in nature.
Accessibility to High Vibes PMA comes with a few important considerations for Floridians planning a visit. The property is accessed via a narrow, shared single dirt road, which is a private easement. While smaller vehicles might manage, a 4-wheel drive is preferred, especially during or after wet weather, due to the limerock surface. This indicates a rustic approach to access that might not be suitable for all types of RVs or trailers, particularly very large rigs (e.g., 45 ft length RVs may face challenges with low-hanging trees, requiring prior confirmation with management for suitable sites). This "off the beaten path" access is part of its charm for those seeking a secluded experience, but it requires preparedness and an understanding of rural road conditions.
Despite its rural setting, Florahome is roughly 33 minutes from Gainesville, 54 minutes from Jacksonville, and about 14 miles from Palatka, making it reasonably accessible from larger population centers in North Florida. This balance allows campers to enjoy a wilderness feel while still having major towns within an hour's drive for supplies, emergencies, or exploring larger city attractions.
The surrounding area offers additional points of interest and natural beauty. Florahome is close to various state forests and natural areas like Etoniah Creek State Forest, known for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Nearby lakes such as George's Lake and numerous springs offer opportunities for boating, swimming, and kayaking. This means that while High Vibes PMA provides a quiet retreat, its location enables easy day trips to explore the wider natural and recreational offerings of Putnam County and beyond. However, prospective visitors are reminded of the noted concerns regarding property access and potential local issues as described in customer reviews, which should be thoroughly investigated prior to travel.

Unique Amenities: Offers specific, less common amenities like treated well water, dedicated compost/recycling, and a developing private shooting range (with respect for operational times).

For Floridians seeking a truly distinctive and deeply natural camping experience, High Vibes PMA in Florahome offers a compelling alternative to conventional campgrounds. Its suitability for locals, particularly those who embrace a more independent and nature-focused lifestyle, lies in its unique operational model, serene environment, and emphasis on an "unplugged" connection with Florida's beautiful wilderness. This isn't for every camper, but for a specific niche, it’s an ideal escape.
One of the primary reasons High Vibes PMA resonates with certain Floridians is its commitment to peace and quiet. In a state with many bustling tourist destinations and crowded parks, finding a secluded spot where the sounds of nature prevail is a treasure. The "disbursed" campsites, set within largely untouched natural areas, mean you're not packed in tightly with neighbors, offering a rare sense of privacy and immersion. This environment is perfect for those looking to genuinely disconnect, reduce stress, and simply breathe in the fresh air, away from the digital noise and urban hustle.
The highly pet-friendly nature of High Vibes PMA is another significant draw for local Floridians who travel with their dogs. The provision of walking paths, water stations, and a large fenced dog park, combined with a policy that allows well-behaved dogs off-leash under supervision, is a rare find. For many, their furry companions are integral to their outdoor adventures, and this park's dedication to canine happiness makes it an incredibly appealing choice.
Furthermore, the eco-tourism focus, with facilities for composting and recycling, aligns with the values of many environmentally conscious Floridians. It's a place where you can feel good about your impact while enjoying the natural world. The rustic approach, including the preference for campers to bring their own compostable toilets for tent sites, speaks to a desire for self-sufficiency and a return to simpler camping traditions that some locals actively seek out.
While the rural access road and the Private Membership Association model may require a bit more preparation and understanding, for the adventurous Floridian, these aspects contribute to its unique appeal. It’s a place that fosters a "live and let live" community, where like-minded individuals can find a haven. Its location in Putnam County still allows for exploration of nearby natural attractions like state forests, lakes, and springs, providing a balanced experience of seclusion and accessibility to outdoor activities.
In conclusion, High Vibes PMA is highly suitable for Floridians who prioritize a quiet, natural, pet-friendly, and unconventional camping experience. It caters to those who are willing to embrace a more rustic approach in exchange for profound peace, genuine connection with nature, and a unique community vibe that sets it apart from typical RV parks and campgrounds in Florida.

High Vibes PMA Reviews
Please do not use this RV camp site. Highly suggest you research the legality, insurance, etc... I am one of several neighbors and we use a shared narrow single dirt road (that is a private easement) to access our homes. We and other neighbors have made complaints with the county but (in short) civil representation is being considered if the county fails to enforce the apparent multiple code violations.
