Heaven's Gate RV and Retreat Reviews
We had an incredible time on our trip to Heaven's Gate. We are hikers, not riders, so we weren't sure if it would be a great fit for us but it really was.The trails out here are gorgeous and the folks are all real welcoming and friendly. Brigitte, our camp host, was more than accommodating and made the experience even more beautiful than it already was on its own. She makes breakfast on request and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, all delicious (we missed Sunday brunch but heard great things about it). She even brought us her personal microwave from her own home when the one in our cabin sparked and stopped working. Brigitte is the kind of host that is so good to you that you wanna straighten up your cabin a little extra for them when you leave, just to help out a bit. This is a phenomenal place for all different kinds of people who crave getting out into nature. A great place for your dog, too- we brought ours and he was just elated the entire time. He loved it just about as much as we did. We will be returning in the summer!! Definitely worth the drive no matter where you're coming from!
Mar 31, 2025 · Haley Dobbs1st time there in 2022, Amazing2nd time there in March 2023 was my last ride with my hubby before cancer won but 3rd time May 2025 was nice with memories, making new friends and wonderful new changes, Brigitte, camp host and cook. She is a doll and D’Anne is always the most helpful. It’s like family. Also the trails are AMAZING.
May 30, 2025 · Jana ReedPosted this again since it was taken down. This place have absolutely ruined the walking trails for humans. Hunting has been severely impacted. Trash on top of the mountain. They need to take responsibility and go clean up after their guests. Horse riders need to wear orange during hunting seasons. Kinda sucks the rules have been tore down. Equestrian is not allowed here by the WMA.The Equestrian is to the north at cedar lake.Updated. Encroachment. Don't make this a bigger issue then it needs to be.
Jan 29, 2025 · layne blevinsCamp sites are well equipped. Restroom is close, and nicely put together (one holer. but wasn't much of a problem). Horses are a prerequisite for admittance. Corrals are in good shape. Tools to take care of horse menuir are ample and location of disposal is close.Water and electric are all in good to new condition.Trails are very nice, and horse folks are always a welcoming group. The location provides an awesome contrast to DFW temps, and starlight views. Owners were very attentive and present. We'll be back.
Sep 03, 2024 · Scott YosteWell kept grounds, friendly welcoming patrons, dogs roam the property. There seems to be a core group of returning patrons,-- link up with them for current trail updates. We came as a family to hang out on our property on Billy Creek and this was a convenient and clean place to stay. Highly recommend for all types of camping but especially for Equestrian campers.
