Green Acres Campground Introduce
For Indiana locals considering a camping trip to Green Acres Campground in Marion, located at 7232 E N 00 S, Marion, IN 46952, USA, it's important to approach with a clear understanding of what this particular establishment offers. Unlike many highly polished commercial campgrounds focused on extensive recreational amenities, Green Acres appears to cater to a more rustic, long-term, and potentially budget-conscious camper, as well as those drawn to specific seasonal events. Recent customer reviews paint a picture of a campground that, while potentially offering affordability for longer stays, may also present challenges in terms of general upkeep and the condition of some facilities. It is described by some as a place where older RVs might reside in various states of repair, impacting the overall aesthetic and available hookups. However, it also hosts annual music festivals and offers both RV and primitive camping, suggesting a clientele looking for specific experiences rather than resort-style comforts. For Hoosiers looking for a basic, potentially extended stay, or a spot for a specific event, a direct inquiry and managing expectations based on the feedback available are crucial. Let's delve into the publicly available information to provide a factual overview of Green Acres Campground.
Green Acres Campground is situated at 7232 E N 00 S, Marion, IN 46952, USA. This address places it in a rural setting just outside the city of Marion, Indiana. Marion itself is located in Grant County, in the north-central part of the state. Its position offers a degree of quiet and relaxation, being "conveniently located just off of State Road 18." This proximity to a state road ensures relatively easy access for Indiana locals traveling from various directions, whether from nearby cities like Kokomo, Muncie, or even Indianapolis. The rural nature of its immediate surroundings means it's generally free from heavy traffic and urban noise, which can be appealing for campers seeking a peaceful escape. However, as noted in reviews, the journey into the campground might reveal a more "run down" appearance, indicating that while geographically accessible, the aesthetic and maintenance level may differ from expectations set by a typical commercial campground. It's important for visitors to understand that while the location provides a quiet setting, the overall presentation of the grounds might be more utilitarian than picturesque upon arrival.
Based on publicly available information and customer reviews, Green Acres Campground offers a set of basic services primarily focused on providing camping accommodations. It caters to both RV and primitive tent campers, though the condition and availability of services may vary. Here's what is generally offered:
- RV Sites with Hookups: The campground advertises 13 RV sites that come with water, electricity, and sewage hookups. However, reviews suggest that the condition and functionality of these hookups can be impacted by long-term, potentially neglected, RVs.
- Primitive Camping: For those preferring a more traditional and basic experience, primitive camping sites are available.
- Shady Pull-Through Sites: The campground mentions having shady pull-through sites, which can be convenient for larger RVs and offer protection from the sun.
- Bathrooms and Showers: Basic bathroom and shower facilities are listed as available amenities. However, customer reviews specifically highlight concerns about cleanliness, with one mentioning the toilets being "too disgusting" and another wishing for "a descent shower and toilet."
- Fishing Pond: A fishing pond is advertised as a feature, offering a recreational activity for campers.
- Large Campfire Pits: The presence of large campfire pits suggests an emphasis on traditional camping activities and communal gathering around a fire.
- Firewood: Firewood is available, likely for purchase, for use in the campfire pits.
- Annual Music Festivals: Green Acres Campground is known for hosting annual music festivals, including Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend events, as well as other festivals throughout the camping season. This indicates a focus on specific event-based camping.
- Winter Camping: The campground is stated to be open year-round and described as a "Great place for winter campers," suggesting availability for cold-weather camping.
Green Acres Campground, while presenting a more rustic and less polished appearance according to reviews, does possess several features and highlights that draw a specific type of camper, particularly those interested in long-term stays or event camping:
- Affordable (Potentially for Long-Term Stays): While some single-night tent rates were considered high by one reviewer, the overall impression for those considering longer stays might lean towards affordability, especially if compared to more resort-style campgrounds. The long-term RVs suggest a clientele seeking economical extended stays.
- Event-Focused Atmosphere: A significant highlight is its role as a venue for "annual music festivals," including those on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. This indicates a lively, event-driven atmosphere at certain times of the year, appealing to attendees of these specific gatherings.
- Year-Round Availability: The fact that it's "Open year round" and a "Great place for winter campers" makes it a versatile option for those who enjoy camping in all seasons, which is not always common for all campgrounds.
- Quiet and Relaxing (When Not During Events): The description from the Grant County Visitors Bureau calls it a "Quiet and relaxing campground," suggesting that outside of major festival weekends, it offers a peaceful environment for campers.
- Basic Camping Elements: For campers who prioritize simple outdoor experiences, the presence of a fishing pond, large campfire pits, and primitive camping options provides the core elements of a traditional camping trip.
- Potential for Long-Term RV Parking: The prevalence of "pull behind campers go to die" suggests a significant number of long-term or permanent residents, which might appeal to individuals seeking a more stable, affordable place to park their RV.

Green Acres Campground Reviews
OMG we got charged $40 for our 1 person tents. That is towards the higher end of the prices we paid so far. We don't need a lot. Just a descent shower and toilet. The pics will tell everything! I did not take a pic of the toilet. Too disgusting.
Jul 01, 2023 · Frank PasquesIn fairness...I did not stay, but, if I had not been on Prozac when I went-I would need it now. Green Acres sounded like an awesome place to camp. It should be named Grey Acres. The run down, vacant looking house that serves as the office was a bit of a turn off, but when you proceed into the campground and realize that this place is where pull behind campers go to die, it hits you...ain't no way I am staying here. All ten spots were filled with campers in various stages of decay, and their decay was sucking all the electric and sewage hookups down with them. I would share photos, but I feel that the photo on Google is a pretty accurate depiction.
