Grantsville Reservoir Campground

Campground, Hiking area ★4.0

Tooele County Corporation, Grantsville Reservoir Rd, Grantsville, UT 84029, USA

4.0
Beautiful location looking at the mountains and towards Stansbury island. Drop toilets and benches, fire rings. $20/night but no camp host there so.. honesty system i guess!Plenty of people fishing at the reservoir till late.Only negative was the wind throughout the night, in a tent it was ridiculous. Didn’t get much sleep once it started and didn’t stop till after the sun came up. In a Van or camper it wouldn’t be as bad but probably wouldn’t come back with a tent again - Paul Mc Grath

Address: Grantsville Reservoir Rd, Grantsville, UT 84029, USA

Phone: (435) 843-4020

This phone number is for the Tooele County Parks and Recreation department. They are the best resource for information on current conditions, camping fees, and any regulations. Since the campground operates on an "honesty system" with a fee box and no camp host, it is a good idea to have the exact camping fee ready. It is also important to note that the campground has a maximum stay of 7 consecutive days, which is a Tooele County regulation.

So, what makes Grantsville Reservoir Campground a worthy choice for your next outdoor adventure in Utah? It's the unique combination of its beautiful, open landscape and its practical, user-friendly amenities. For RVers, the level sites and accessibility are a significant advantage. The campground is also a great value, with a reasonable camping fee that provides access to a variety of amenities, including running water and restrooms. While some reviews mention issues with noise and wind, these are often dependent on the time of visit and the other campers present. The scenic views and the opportunity to camp right next to a reservoir for fishing and recreation are a huge draw that often outweigh these minor issues.

The fact that it is both a campground and a hiking area provides a dual purpose, catering to those who want to relax and those who want to be active. The kid-friendly environment and dog-friendly policies make it an ideal spot for a complete family outing. The honest system of payment and the lack of a camp host can be a positive for those who prefer a more independent camping experience. For Utahns looking for an accessible, scenic, and affordable camping spot with great fishing and hiking, Grantsville Reservoir Campground is an excellent choice.
