Gheny Nook Campground is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch your tent; it's a community where campers feel at home, thanks to the dedicated care of its owners, Ken and Joan. Many repeat visitors praise the cleanliness of the facilities and the genuine friendliness of the hosts, creating an atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. This campground is ideally suited for West Virginians who appreciate a well-maintained site with essential amenities, all while being surrounded by the natural beauty that defines our state.
Whether you're planning a short weekend escape or a longer seasonal stay, Gheny Nook offers the perfect base to unwind and explore. Imagine waking up to the gentle murmur of a beautiful creek running through the property, enjoying clear, starlit nights that simply can’t be experienced in the city, and knowing you’re in a safe and friendly environment. It's an ideal setting for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with nature and each other, all within the accessible charm of West Virginia. Gheny Nook Campground is conveniently located at 12322 Pocahontas Trl, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986, USA. This address places it within Greenbrier County, a historically rich and naturally abundant region of West Virginia. The campground is nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, providing campers with stunning scenic views and a true mountain experience.
Its location on Pocahontas Trail (also known as Route 92 North, specifically at mile marker 12.3) ensures relatively easy accessibility for campers driving from various parts of West Virginia and neighboring states. White Sulphur Springs is well-known, particularly for being home to The Greenbrier resort, which adds a touch of local charm and a range of potential nearby amenities, though the campground maintains its peaceful, distinct character.
One of the unique aspects of Gheny Nook’s location, as highlighted by some visitors, is its proximity to the Green Bank Observatory, which enforces a National Radio Quiet Zone. This means that cell phone service at the campground is likely to be limited or non-existent for many carriers (e.g., AT&T, Verizon are mentioned as having some presence in the area according to one source, but it's not a guarantee), which can be seen as both a feature and a consideration. For those looking to truly disconnect and escape constant digital noise, this is a significant benefit, allowing for full immersion in the natural surroundings. For those who require connectivity, planning ahead (e.g., with Wi-Fi availability, if any, or understanding limited carrier service) is advisable. The area offers a tranquil environment, yet remains within driving distance of attractions and services in the Greenbrier Valley and Allegheny Mountains, striking a good balance for a relaxing outdoor getaway.

Gheny Nook Campground Reviews
Gheny Nook Campground was a great place to stay. We stayed from December-April. The campground was very clean and safe, and we enjoyed talking with Ken and Joan who run the place. There's a beautiful creek that runs through the campground and the stars look amazing at night. We were sad to leave and highly recommend this place. There are many things to do around here if you're willing to drive about 40 minutes.

Nov 11, 2023 · Debbie SovaNice place to stay. There are a lot of seasonal/yearly people. Owner/host? was VERY nice. Site spacing was decent. All hook ups worked fine. It was close to the Greenbrier Bunker which is why we picked this place. No dog park.
