Gerstle Cove Campground

Jenner, CA 95450, USA

4.0
First time here and absolutely loved it - stayed in July and it was still a bit chilly around 50s-60s with slight wind but not as windy as I expected! It actually even rained in the night but it was a pretty light drizzle. Mostly cloudy and foggy when we went but it was a vibe.Bathrooms were surprisingly VERY clean (for a campground) and didn’t encounter that many bugs! You can buy firewood at wood side for $10 a bundle! We initially booked 25 but moved to 24 and recommend folks to avoid 25 as it barely has any space at all(attaching image). Short hike to the ocean as well. - Brandon Wee

Location and Accessibility

Gerstle Cove Campground is strategically situated in Jenner, California, a charming coastal town that serves as the gateway to the magnificent Sonoma Coast State Park. Its address, Jenner, CA 95450, USA, places it right on the doorstep of the Pacific Ocean, offering campers direct access to stunning ocean vistas and the rugged beauty of the California coastline.

For those traveling from various parts of California, accessibility to Gerstle Cove is relatively straightforward. From the San Francisco Bay Area, a scenic drive north along Highway 1 will lead you directly to Jenner, showcasing incredible coastal views along the way. Travelers from Sacramento and other inland areas can reach the campground via a combination of major highways leading to the coast. The drive itself is part of the adventure, winding through picturesque landscapes that prepare you for the natural beauty awaiting you at the campground.

While the exact turn-off for the campground within Jenner is well-marked, it's always advisable to have a map or GPS readily available, especially for first-time visitors. The remoteness contributes to the serene atmosphere, but it also means that public transportation options directly to the campground are limited, making personal vehicles the most practical mode of transport. The beauty of its location lies in its ability to feel secluded while still being accessible for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation from major Californian cities.

Services Offered

  • Firewood Sales: For your campfire needs, firewood is conveniently available for purchase on-site at "wood side" for $10 a bundle. This eliminates the need to transport wood, making your packing lighter and ensuring you can enjoy a cozy fire under the stars.
  • Restroom Facilities: Campers consistently praise the restrooms for their cleanliness, a notable advantage for a campground. This commitment to hygiene enhances the overall comfort of your stay.
  • Access to the Ocean: A short, accessible hike from many campsites leads directly to the ocean, providing easy access for exploration, tide-pooling, or simply enjoying the coastal scenery.
