General Burnside Island State Park Campground Reviews
Loved it. Very nice camping spot and bath house was immaculate!!
Jun 17, 2025 · Tanya MitchenerThis is a very clean state park campground. The camp hosts we talked with were very friendly and informative. The shower house we used was always clean and in good order. The showers have temperature control and always on controls. They are not push button timed. Many of the sites have good spacing but the sites basically up the middle are very close together. Beware that some sites are definitely not great for large units. The boat ramp is very nice and provides great access to the lake. We were told that during prime season the ramp parking often gets extremely crowded and requires the use of both overflow lots. That would be quite the hike to and from the ramp! The ramp is at least five trailers wide so as long as everyone knows how to back up a boat trailer, the turnover should be pretty quick. It's a long boat run to the dam from this point, like over 53 miles by water, or over 100 miles round trip. This was our first trip to Lake Cumberland but we're likely to go back next season and will likely camp here again.
Sep 07, 2023 · Kevin WNice clean place. Close to a nice boat ramp. Not too many places to keep a boat with your camper. Hard to tell on satellite view. We booked a spot we thought had a nice place to keep our other car and boat, but it was a huge hill.
