Froggy's River Resort is strategically located at 30399 Smokey Ln, Richland, MO 65556, USA. For Missouri residents, this address positions the resort in the heart of the Ozarks, offering both a sense of secluded escape and reasonable accessibility. Richland is situated in Pulaski County, making Froggy's an attractive destination from various parts of the state.
Access to Froggy's River Resort typically involves navigating rural roads off major state highways. While it's noted as being in a "secluded" area, its proximity to Richland means that essential services are not too far away. From major population centers like St. Louis or Kansas City, the drive would typically involve interstates (such as I-44) leading to state routes that connect to Richland. This balance ensures that while you feel removed from the hustle and bustle, the journey is manageable, especially for those familiar with Missouri's scenic backroads.
The fact that it's a "River Resort" implies its direct connection to a body of water, likely the Gasconade River, which is a prominent feature in the Richland area. This riverfront location significantly enhances its appeal for those interested in water-based activities like floating, fishing, or simply enjoying riverside tranquility. While one review mentioned the river being too high for floating due to Mother Nature, this highlights the natural, authentic river experience it offers, subject to environmental conditions. The secluded nature, combined with the relative ease of access from various parts of Missouri, makes Froggy's River Resort an ideal spot for locals seeking a genuine Ozarks adventure without venturing excessively far from home. Its placement allows for both a peaceful retreat and a convenient base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty of central Missouri.
Froggy's River Resort goes beyond typical campground offerings, providing a unique blend of accommodation and services designed to create an unforgettable group or family experience. Based on customer reviews, here's an overview of what guests can expect:
- The Lodge Accommodation: A major highlight, the lodge is described as "Massive with plenty of space for our STL/KC crew." It comes "fully stocked with everything we needed and things we didn’t even know we needed." This suggests a comprehensive array of kitchenware, linens, and other household essentials, making it ideal for large groups and extended stays.
- River Access and Activities: As a "River Resort," direct access to the river (likely the Gasconade River) is a primary offering. This typically includes opportunities for floating (tubing, canoeing, kayaking), fishing, and swimming, making it a hub for water-based recreation. While a review noted the river was too high for floating at one point, this implies floating is usually a key activity.
- Fire Pit: The "fire pit is AMAZING. 🔥" according to a review, indicating a significant and well-designed communal fire area, perfect for evening gatherings, storytelling, and s'mores.
- Campsites (Implied): While the focus of the reviews is on the lodge, a "Resort" typically offers various lodging options, including traditional campsites (RV and/or tent sites) alongside lodge accommodations. Specific details on hookups or amenities for campsites would require direct inquiry.
- Exceptional Customer Service: Repeatedly praised, the owners (Bill) and "volunteer employees" (Robin and Darrell) are highlighted for going "ABOVE AND BEYOND" to ensure guest satisfaction. They are described as "Chill, hilarious, and just the kind of people you want around a campfire." This personalized and friendly service is a core offering.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: While not explicitly stated for every service, the general vibe and emphasis on outdoor family fun suggest a welcoming attitude towards pets, common in such resorts.
- Responsive Communication: One reviewer noted, "we called to verify that there were showers available and was told yes," indicating responsiveness to inquiries, even if there was a temporary issue upon arrival that was promptly addressed.
It's important to note the specific review about the shower house being shut down early in the season, which was admirably handled by staff. This suggests that while services are generally present, availability might vary seasonally or due to maintenance, and direct verification is always recommended. Overall, Froggy's provides a comprehensive and highly personalized experience, especially for group bookings in their lodge, complemented by river access and a focus on guest enjoyment.

This makes it an ideal central hub for large groups (like the "STL/KC crew"), offering all the comforts of home and more, perfect for extended stays and communal activities.
- Incredible Fire Pit: The "AMAZING. 🔥" fire pit is another standout highlight, providing a fantastic gathering spot for evenings, storytelling, and creating lasting memories. This suggests a well-designed and substantial fire feature that enhances the outdoor experience.
- Riverfront Access & Activities: As a "River Resort," direct access to the river (likely the Gasconade) for floating, fishing, and swimming is a core attraction. While specific activities might be weather-dependent, the inherent opportunity for river adventures is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts.
- Secluded Yet Accessible Location: Situated on Smokey Lane, the resort offers a sense of being "off the beaten path" and deeply immersed in nature, providing a genuine escape. Yet, it remains accessible enough for groups from major Missouri cities to reach, striking a perfect balance between tranquility and convenience.
- "Gatekeep" Worthy Experience: The playful tone of the primary review ("We almost left a 1-star review to keep Froggy’s our secret... This place deserves ALL the stars") speaks volumes about the unique and highly cherished experience guests have. It's the kind of place people want to keep to themselves because it's so good, signifying a truly exceptional and memorable stay.
- Adaptability and Problem Solving: The instance where Robin and Darrell "turned our disappointment into an enjoyable experience" when the showers were unavailable demonstrates their exceptional problem-solving skills and dedication to guest satisfaction, ensuring a positive outcome even with unexpected issues.
These highlights collectively paint a picture of Froggy's River Resort as a vibrant, welcoming, and high-quality destination that prioritizes guest experience above all else, making every visit truly unforgettable.

Froggy's River Resort Reviews
We almost left a 1-star review to keep Froggy’s our secret. I mean, why make it harder for us to book next time, right? But we couldn’t do it. This place deserves ALL the stars and then some. 👏🏼👏🏼The lodge? Massive with plenty of space for our STL/KC crew. It was fully stocked with everything we needed and things we didn’t even know we needed. The fire pit is AMAZING. 🔥The river was too high to float (thanks Mother Nature) but Bill (the owner) and Chris weren’t about to let that kill the vibe. They made sure we had an unforgettable time anyway. Total legends. Chill, hilarious, and just the kind of people you want around a campfire or in your apocalypse survival crew. We’re already plotting our return! Froggy’s has officially become that place: the one we want to brag about but also gatekeep like our lives depend on it. If you’re lucky enough to book it…just promise you won’t take our weekend.
Jun 02, 2025 · Mary GrobeWe arrived early in the season so not everything was "camper ready" we called to verify that there were showers available and was told yes, but when we arrived, the shower house was completely shut down and disconnected. We were VERY IMPRESSED with Robin and her husband Darrell (sorry Robin if I spelled that wrong) they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to turn our disappointment into a enjoyable experience, and because of them, we will be coming back to this campground and bringing friends!!!! For being volunteer "employees" of this camp ground, they take pride in it and go out of their way to make people feel welcome. You should put these guys on the payroll!!!
Apr 16, 2025 · Julie McgeoughOne of our favorite places to camp. Very well kept, owners are amazIng. They always stop and chat and make sure you don’t need anything. Water front and nice clear water. Great to sit down by the water.
Jul 04, 2025 · Jill ForbesWe rented the lodge out this weekend and it was awesome. It's even bigger than it looks in the pictures. We met and hung out with the owners who were awesome people that worked hard to ensure we had a great time. We also like that it's not too far to drive from KC. We're planning on making it an annual trip.
Jun 02, 2025 · Matt HugelWe came drive up from Eastern N.C. for our daughter Marines Military Police Graduation. HooRaa. Although this campground is 20 minutes away from gate at Fort Leanord Wood. After researching places and personally seeing the others on our commute to base. Froggys is the place to stay. Still in development (showers and toilet facilities), the space between sites is great. Others in area stack you on top of one an another like a NY City block; Froggys had some space in between. The river is shallow in the area and it border Mark Twain State Parrk/Forest. We searched for arrowheads which are scattered throughout area. The iwner Chris .are our stay great with any help we needed and also sold us a great amount of firewood at the best price I've had at anyplace. I like grass spots so this was perfect. We were mid week stay at end of season. IT is scenic and spots are very level... If your visiting for a Military Graduation or to visit your soldier; your kids and soldier will appreciate the beauty and river access. We didn't float the river due to time of bring our girl back to base. But is definitely a fun activity offered.
