It has garnered a reputation for its clean, safe, and convenient environment, making it a beloved spot for both seasoned campers and families alike. This article will provide a detailed and factual overview of Foscue Creek Park, highlighting its prime location, the comprehensive services it offers, its standout features, and why it is an ideal choice for local residents looking to explore Alabama's natural beauty.
Foscue Creek Park embodies the tranquility and accessibility that many Alabamians seek in a campground. Whether you're planning a weekend RV getaway, a family tent camping adventure, or simply a day out enjoying the water, this park is designed to cater to diverse needs. We will delve into the ease of access to the park, the specifics of its camping facilities and recreational opportunities, and the general atmosphere that makes it a highly-rated choice among its visitors. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive picture of Foscue Creek Park, emphasizing its suitability for those who cherish outdoor activities and a peaceful environment in West Alabama.
Foscue Creek Park is officially located at 1800 Lock and Dam Rd, Demopolis, AL 36732, USA. It is situated in Demopolis, a historic city in Marengo County, Alabama, right on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway. While the park is celebrated for its peaceful and natural setting, its accessibility is a significant advantage for Alabamian visitors. Demopolis itself is a hub in West Alabama, making it relatively easy to reach from various parts of the state.
For those traveling by RV or with trailers, it's crucial to note the park's specific travel recommendations: avoid relying solely on GPS directions when approaching from US Highway 43 South via Jackson Street, as this route may not be suitable for larger vehicles. The recommended approach is to utilize U.S. Highway 80 to Maria Street, then merge onto Lock and Dam Road. This guidance ensures a smoother journey to the campground entrance, which is approximately three miles west of Demopolis. Despite one past comment about a "rough road from MS17," the internal roads within the park are noted by visitors as being "long flat paved roads with slow traffic," offering excellent conditions for walking, biking, and general ease of movement. The park’s proximity to Demopolis means that essential services like grocery stores (including Walmart, noted as being just "3 miles to town"), gas stations, and local dining options are conveniently close by, providing a perfect blend of secluded nature and urban accessibility.

May 14, 2025 · Terrie WatsonFoscue Creek Campground is a beautiful COE park with full hook ups at most sites. We stayed in site #33 which is a level, back in site with a concrete pad and gravel around an aluminum picnic table and fire ring. The campsites are spaced well enough apart from neighbors to feel some privacy. Our site was right next to a bridge, so our pad faced a small area of stagnant water. We loved seeing all the turtles in the water, even counting as many as 33 at one time. The one downside we experienced was the gnats, all over the campground – they were relentless and put a damper on being able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Both our T-Mobile home internet and Verizon phone coverage worked well.
Apr 14, 2024 · Sharla AshcraftOther than the occasional train and river barge, this place is quiet. Most of the sites are on or next to water and quite large. This is a very nice campground. The rangers and the campground hosts were fantastic. The restrooms and showers were clean. There's also a boat launch and 2 playrounds on site. Unfortunately, not much to do in town, but it is close by.
Jan 28, 2024 · Lane DelkerThis was a great place to stop off for the night. We needed to do a little fix up on our adventure trailer and needed a concrete pad for it. The park was big, the people were nice and everything was manicured. Beautiful clean park! They had showers, bathrooms, and a playground. As well as easy access to the river, since it was water front. It's quite easy to get in and out of, even if you are a big rig. The hosts were nice and welcoming.
Oct 08, 2024 · Hope HughesWhomever designed this campground years ago - really had their act together. And the staff that maintain it now - just really a great crew. The great thing is that this campground/park is 'big rig' friendly. All the roads are paved, a bit windy and narrow, but in good condition. This definitely a camping destination.
