This review is for TENT or CAR camping. Camper/RV would probably be a better experience as far as my complaints.I didn’t even stay through the night and ended up driving 4.5 hours home at 11:30pm bc something would hit the tent every time my dog and I fell asleep. We started sleeping at 9pm, my dog and I got woken up probably by single thumps against my tent. Other tent campers I saw at the bathrooms had said raccoons were keeping them awake all night the night before. I had the windows down on my car with the screens on them for airflow, so even trying to sleep in the back of my car, we heard all the rustling and animal type activity of tent camping (which normally isn’t an issue at all). Not sure if it was raccoons or what but it was odd bc it was just one good thump on the wall, silence, then another thump. My dog and I would lie there trying to calm from the startle, and sleep again… and it was only another 20 minutes or so till the next thump. We left after the 4th thud.My other complaint is the flashlights walking by after 10 and the cars driving by after 10. It prob wouldn’t have been an issue if I was sound asleep, but because of the thumping and constant animal movement I was getting absolutely no sleep.A tip as others have given, the flies are many! Bring plenty of bug spray so they don’t land all over you. Being so close to the swamps, it makes sense! Seems like once you settle into the site they calm down a bit, but they were persistent and even landing on my dog. Once in the tent we were fine.I would totally go back if I had a camper or RV, as the campground and park is beautiful! But as long as I’m tent or car camping I don’t think I’ll be back to camp. - Jess P
