Forks Campground Reviews
Nice camping area very close to the lake. Camping sites have picnic tables and campfire rings. Shade comes and goes, depending on the site. Restrooms are good with standard toilets and sinks, running water faucets outside. No showers, but you can go to Miller’s landing resort just 5 min away to have token-activated shower for $5/5 min. No bear proof metal boxes on site, animals (raccoons) come during dark hours. I was napping in the car when mama bear came with a cub at 4PM and opened my door, then saw me inside and walked away 😬. Mosquitos are aggressive 4-7PM, then temperatures drop and they disappear. Gets cold (40F) during the night (visited mid June 2025), while can be warm during the day. Convenience store and nice eatery nearby, the other one is Miller’s landing, which is also good (menu, prices, affordable).

Jul 01, 2025 · Nate LoperExtremely buggy campground, we were almost swallowed by mosquitoes. Bears arevery active in the campground but no bear box!!!!! Bear broke into our car and stole our food! Our campground was not shady at all so we asked if it’s possible to change to the available campsite nearby, the host said no unless we paid another 50 bucks…
Jun 08, 2025 · 邱念I wrote this review on Recreation.gov but also wanted to add my photos here.I would give this campground a 5/5 if it were not for the swarms of mosquitos we encountered. They were relentless during the daylight hours, mostly at dusk, at the time you'd want to make dinner, enjoy sunset, and have a fire. Otherwise this campsite was great. #19 provides more privacy than any of the other spots in this campground. I saw spots 26-28 have a great view of the water, which was absolutely beautiful at sunrise. The camp host was very friendly and informative. We saw no bears to my relief. This campsite was about 45 min from the south entrance of Yosemite. If not for the mosquitos, I would recommend this campground to others. Maybe it will be better in the dryer summer months regarding this.
May 14, 2022 · Caycee WhiteStayed there May 22nd,23d,24th left the 25th. This place has turned out to be the BEST camp site I have been to in years. Definitely the CLEANEST I've ever seen. The host is awesome and full of information. For as many people that were there it was extremely peaceful, quite, and relaxing. The nights were great and having a fire was fantastic!!! The views were good. The lake was very nice. Store close. They did inform us that some road work was going to be done so we would have to take the detour to get back in as well as to let us know to keep ALL FOOD CLEANED UP and in cars as well as any trash to please throw it away. Due to the fact a young bear had made an appearance a couple of times recently. Very thankful for the info as our last night there we were awaken by someone yelling and scaring off a bear which we heard and smelled when inside our tent. All I have to say is DON'T COUNT on your dog barking if a bear is around. All my dog did was to whine to let me know. She stopped when the bear was gone. I would definitely recommend this site and will stay there again with out a second guess.
