Cottonwood Lake Campground Reviews
This is the third time we’ve stayed at this campground and by far the best experience, really because of the attention to detail of the camp hosts. We stayed 3 nights in site 14, which is a pull through and I don’t think it had a tent pad but it’s private and surrounded by Aspens. After hanging out at the lake after checkout we decided to wait out traffic and stay another day. There were two big festivals in town we didn’t even know about till the day after we arrived. Anyway we snagged site 6 and what a different view, I’m pretty sure it’s Mt Princeton. This site wasn’t as private but no biggie. There is NO cell service so be prepared to unplug! We will stay here again and again. Oh and forgot to mention Cottonwood hot springs are just down the road. Ah heaven!Again special shout out to this camp host. They were nice folks and seriously the cleanest restrooms and sites I’ve ever seen here. Hope they come back next year. They close 10/15 so hurry up and catch the Aspens!
Sep 27, 2023 · Kim CrawfordAbsolutely stunning campground! The mountain views were unbeatable, a gorgeous lake less than a mile walk from camp, very clean property, and friendly hosts! Good hiking opportunities nearby and the lake is good for kayaking & fishing, as well as swimming on hot days (water is quite chilly). The camp spots themselves were private enough with young aspens between sites. We got there around lunch time on a Friday (Labor Day weekend) and there were plenty of spots available.

Sep 24, 2024 · Bill TroyanosLike the place. Best when it's really hot in my opinion and the fish are biting, and are bigger than freshly stocked lil ones. If I could change 1 thing, it would be the growth in the water that makes having to redo fishing line irritating. The place has some nice, shaded spots, a few water pump stations and vaulted toilets with sinks. Fire rings, tent pads and metal picnic tables that are covered with are provided. Enjoy!
Jan 23, 2020 · Stella ShineI stayed here for two nights and had a great time, would definitely come here again. The lake is beautiful and is probably a little less than a mile down the road from the campground. Seems like a popular spot for fishing and kayaking, but also nice for swimming. The water is very clear but quite cold, and very refreshing on a hot, sunny day. The campsites are close enough together that you can see and hear your neighbors pretty easily, but there are lots of aspens that provide some privacy and shade. Typically, there is shade for most of the day, but during the midday it's hard to get away from the sun. All the sites seem like they're first come first served. I arrived on a Monday and I think about 60% of the spots were taken, so it must fill up even faster on the weekends. Luckily, there are lots of dispersed camping spots up the road if you can't find one at the site. There was no camp host when I arrived, but a helpful couple was in site 1 selling firewood. Overall, this is a beautiful and seemingly very popular campground.
