Clear Lake Campground

7805 Cache Creek Way, Clearlake, CA 95422, USA

4.0
Arrived on July 5, 2025. We happened to catch the owner checking in someone at the boat launch. We asked to rent a canoe for two people. She told us we were lucky because we did not have online reservations and she doesn’t open the office until 1pm. Had we made online reservations she would have known to meet us at the boat launch. But since she manages a large property she has to tend to many other things throughout the day. She checked us in quickly and accepted payment via credit card (no apple-pay available). We chose the 3-hour rental but she advised 2 hours was sufficient. We actually took 3 hours exactly to get to Clearlake and circumvent around the Gardner Island and back to the boat launch. It was very hot with the sun burning directly down on us. We saw many species of birds and even a river otter along the paddle. The water current was calm and still. Very easy to paddle this creek. We do not recommend you touch the water as it is full of algae and cyano-bacteria. All in all it was a very fun adventure and the facilities have picnic tables, restrooms, convenience store stocked with ice-cream, and even glamping sites for rent. Highly recommended! - Winston Dy
