This is my happy place. It is located just outside of Lincoln city, on the Siletz River. It is absolutely beautiful. It is prime fishing for King Chinook Salmon. There is a boat launch with several docks. It has a great fish cleaning station. Bathroom/showers and washer/dryer facilities. My family has been a member there for years. You will often see a herd of Elk come in and around camp. The little seals are fun to watch when you share your catch, while cleaning your fish. - Mechelle Douglas

Accessing the resort is straightforward. From Highway 101, you'll turn onto Highway 229 (Siletz Hwy) and travel about three miles east. Reviewers note that the final stretch involves driving about a mile on gravel, leading to the grass and gravel sites. While this might suggest a more rustic entry, the overall accessibility is excellent for RVs of all sizes, with the resort accommodating any size rig. This ease of access makes it a convenient choice for Oregon locals looking for a quick weekend getaway or a longer vacation without extensive travel. Its proximity to Lincoln City, Depoe Bay (5 miles), and Newport (20 miles) also places it within reach of numerous coastal attractions and whale-watching opportunities.

  • Bathroom & Shower Facilities: Clean bathroom and shower facilities are available. While one review noted "Bathroom/showers and washer/dryer facilities," others mentioned showers require quarters (25¢/4 minutes) and some facilities might be a little run down but generally clean.
  • Laundry Facilities: On-site washer/dryer facilities add to the convenience, especially for longer stays.
  • General Store & Bait Shop: The resort boasts a general store providing essentials, and a full bait shop, ensuring anglers have access to necessary supplies.

Features / Highlights

Chinook Bend RV Resort offers a wealth of features that make it a compelling destination for Oregon locals, particularly those who cherish outdoor activities and a connection with nature.

  • Prime Fishing Destination: This resort is truly a "fisherman/woman delight," as described by a reviewer. Its location on the Siletz River, known for King Chinook Salmon, offers "premier salmon fishing experiences" with a "higher fish catch rate than competitors." The boat launch, docks, and fish cleaning station further enhance this appeal.
  • Abundant Wildlife Viewing: The natural setting provides incredible opportunities for wildlife observation. Guests "will often see a herd of Elk come in and around camp," and "little seals are fun to watch when you share your catch, while cleaning your fish." Otters and various birds are also common sightings.
  • Scenic Riverfront Location: The resort spans "85 acres along half a mile of the Siletz River," offering beautiful "riverfront camping" and stunning views. Reviewers consistently praise the beauty of the Siletz River.
  • Family-Oriented Atmosphere: Described as a "family-owned business" with "over 60 years of experience in creating memorable camping experiences," the resort fosters a welcoming and family-friendly environment. The presence of a playground and petting zoo (with llamas) further adds to its appeal for families.
  • Proximity to Ocean & Lincoln City: While riverfront, the resort is only three miles from the Pacific Ocean, allowing easy access to Lincoln City's beaches, Chinook Winds Casino, antique shops, restaurants, and other coastal attractions.
  • Community and Social Events: The resort hosts park events like "Potluck gatherings, BBQs, Pool Table events, live music on holidays," fostering a sense of community among campers.

A point to consider, as mentioned by a reviewer, is that sites can be "SUPER CLOSE" and allowing "fires next to your rig" can lead to smoke issues. This suggests that while fires are permitted and desirable for many, site spacing might be a concern for some campers seeking more privacy.
