4.0
Coming from Indiana, where the state parks have sites packed together you are practically gaining family members when you camp, we were impressed to have a pull through side with enough space for our family to spread out after a 14 hour drive. We camped in the C loop for 3 nights and truly enjoyed our time just in the campground. We took a walk down the walking path every morning and every evening, which offers great mountains views as well as a view of the lake. The bathrooms, including the pit toilets, were always clean. We were able to visit the Red RocksAmphitheatre and Rocky Mountain National Park in one day with our location. We went south the next day to Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center and Garden of the Gods. There is a LOT to see just through the windows of the truck. We came back one evening to find our site had been mowed which made a huge difference in the lay of our site. From the campground you can take a short track down to the lack to dip your toes in the water, or enjoy the sunset from the parking lot over the mountains. The campground map does locate the dump station adequately, however if you quickly read sign signs, it is easy to confuse! So be ready for that! All in all, if we find our way through the Denver area Asian, I will be booking us a spot here. - Jennifer Maxwell

Chatfield State Park Campground is more than just a place to pitch your tent or park your RV; it's a vibrant hub of activity set against the stunning backdrop of Colorado's Front Range. Guests consistently praise the spaciousness of the sites, a welcome contrast to more crowded campgrounds, allowing families to truly spread out and relax. The commitment to cleanliness, from the bathrooms to the pit toilets, is frequently highlighted by visitors, ensuring a comfortable stay. The campground offers breathtaking mountain views and glimpses of the expansive Chatfield Reservoir, creating a picturesque setting for every morning coffee and evening campfire. Its strategic location allows for easy day trips to iconic Colorado landmarks like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Rocky Mountain National Park, Garden of the Gods, and the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring our beautiful state. The ability to return to a well-maintained site, even finding it recently mowed, further enhances the overall positive experience, making Chatfield State Park Campground a highly recommended destination for any Colorado outdoor enthusiast.

Chatfield State Park Campground is ideally located at 11500 Roxborough Park Rd, Littleton, CO 80125, USA. This address places it just southwest of the bustling Denver metropolitan area, offering an incredible blend of natural tranquility and urban accessibility. Its proximity to major thoroughfares like C-470 ensures straightforward travel from various parts of the state, making it a convenient destination for Coloradans from Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, or even further south.

While the park feels like a true escape into nature, the ease of access to nearby towns like Littleton means quick trips for supplies, dining out, or exploring local attractions are entirely feasible. The reviews attest to this perfect balance, noting that it's "close enough to town for quick trips or a night out" yet "far enough away to still be enjoying a campfire after dark." Navigating to the campground itself is generally easy, though one review humorously notes that the dump station signs can be confusing – a minor detail in an otherwise well-planned park. The park roads are wide and well-maintained, accommodating larger RVs and trailers with ease, and visitors can enjoy scenic drives within the park itself, with views of rolling foothills and the vast Platte River valley. This strategic location truly maximizes your vacation time, allowing you to seamlessly transition between outdoor adventures and convenient access to city amenities.
