We stayed here in Nov. 2022 and has a great time! The heated tent we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean, and there’s a water filling station next to the women’s room. Knocking off a star for two reasons:1- Bathroom was not close to our tent and as someone with an active bladder, this was annoying. But I understand that part of the camping experience, so many probably don’t mind.2- It was icy almost everywhere. Navigating the village, parking lot, tent/bathroom area and space in between was treacherous. Surely salt or sand could have been put down where people need to walk. Also, locks for the bear lockers are not provided, you need to bring your own. But we saw most lockers weren’t using locks at all. So up to each party, but thought it was worth giving a heads up.Anyway, great place to stay to spend time in the park! Would do it again. Just maybe I need to get spikes/chains for my shoes. - Alison Carter

Prepare to be inspired by the possibilities that await at this storied Yosemite institution, as we explore why Camp Curry Historic District remains a top choice for experiencing the heart of California's most famous national park.

Location and Accessibility:

The Camp Curry Historic District, officially known as Curry Village, boasts an undeniably prime location within Yosemite National Park. Its address, 1 Ahwahnee Drive, TUOLUMNE MEADOWS, CA 95389, USA, might seem to suggest a distant location, but it's crucial to clarify that while the address format includes "TUOLUMNE MEADOWS," Camp Curry is firmly situated in the iconic Yosemite Valley. This puts it at the epicenter of many of the park's most famous attractions, including Half Dome, Glacier Point, and Yosemite Falls, which are often visible directly from the village grounds.

Accessibility to Camp Curry is generally excellent, given its position within the main hub of Yosemite Valley. Visitors typically arrive via one of the park's scenic entrance roads: Highway 120 (Big Oak Flat Road), Highway 140 (El Portal Road), or Highway 41 (Wawona Road). Once inside the park, well-maintained roads lead directly to Curry Village. During peak season, the park's free shuttle bus system provides convenient transportation throughout Yosemite Valley, with multiple stops right within Curry Village, eliminating the need to drive and park for most explorations. This is a significant advantage, as parking in Yosemite Valley can be challenging, especially during busy times.

However, it's important for visitors to be aware of seasonal considerations. Winter months (roughly November through May, depending on snowfall) can bring icy conditions, as noted by a previous visitor: "It was icy almost everywhere. Navigating the village, parking lot, tent/bathroom area and space in between was treacherous. Surely salt or sand could have been put down where people need to walk." While the park strives to maintain safe conditions, guests should be prepared for winter weather, including bringing appropriate footwear with good traction. Road closures due to snow or rockslides can also occur, particularly on higher elevation routes leading into the Valley. Always check current road and weather conditions on the official Yosemite National Park website before your visit.

Despite potential winter challenges, the year-round accessibility and central location of Camp Curry make it an ideal basecamp for exploring Yosemite. Its proximity to trailheads, dining options, and park services ensures that visitors can maximize their time experiencing the natural wonders of the Valley.
