Camping in Pennsylvania offers a unique opportunity to explore the state's diverse landscapes, from rolling hills to lush forests and serene waterways. Camp-A-While embodies this spirit, providing a tranquil escape where you can relax by a campfire, listen to the sounds of nature, and create lasting memories with loved ones. It’s more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a community where you can unwind, engage in fun activities, and feel truly at home in the great outdoors.
The success and positive reputation of Camp-A-While are often attributed to its dedicated owners, Michelle and Rob, who are frequently praised by campers for their kindness, hard work, and genuine care for their visitors' experiences. Their commitment to maintaining clean facilities and fostering a sense of comfort and community shines through in many testimonials. This article will delve into the specifics of what makes Camp-A-While a top choice for campers in the Pennsylvania region, covering its convenient location, extensive services, exciting features, and how to plan your visit.
Camp-A-While is strategically situated at 1921 E Main St, Hegins, PA 17938, USA. Hegins is a charming community located in Schuylkill County, an area known for its scenic beauty and rich anthracite coal mining history. This location places Camp-A-While in the heart of Pennsylvania's stunning mountain landscapes, offering campers a truly immersive natural experience.
The campground’s address on East Main Street (Route 25) makes it easily accessible for travelers coming from various parts of Pennsylvania and beyond. It is conveniently located off Exit 112 from Interstate 81, a major north-south artery running through the state. This accessibility ensures a relatively straightforward drive for most campers, reducing travel stress and maximizing time spent enjoying the campground.
While Camp-A-While provides a serene mountain retreat, it is also within a reasonable driving distance of several local attractions and points of interest. This allows campers to combine their outdoor relaxation with opportunities for exploration. Nearby towns offer essential services, including grocery stores, gas stations, and local eateries, ensuring that campers have everything they need within reach. However, it's worth noting a common observation from past visitors: the proximity to a main road means that noise from tractor-trailers using engine brakes on descents and shifting gears on ascents can be noticeable, particularly for sites closer to the road. Despite this, many find the overall experience and natural beauty outweigh this consideration, especially for sites further into the park.
Camp-A-While prides itself on offering a comprehensive range of services designed to make every camper's stay comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable. Their commitment to guest satisfaction is evident in the thoughtful provision of amenities:

Additionally, Camp-A-While offers cozy cabins and RV rentals for those who don't have their own camping unit or wish to try camping without the commitment of ownership.

Camp-A-While Reviews
We loved our campsite overlooking Pine Creek and the birds that were singing from the trees (we are birders and loved hearing the orioles and warblers). We also walked and enjoyed the mile-long nature trail, which is well maintained. We were impressed with the beauty of the surroundings, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the provisions in the store. The owners, Michelle and Rob, are kind and clearly work hard to keep the place running smoothly, and they obviously care about their campers' experience, while establishing a sense of comfort and community for anyone who visits. We highly recommend this campground!
May 19, 2025 · Vicki VNice campground- well maintained- but there are a few things to know- first- the noise from the tractor trailers going up and down the mountain is extreme- like louder than any road traffic I have heard- using the engine brake on the way down and shifting like 8-10 times as they climb- also 90% of sites are seasonal- not only does that limit site choice- but everyone seems to know everyone except for you. If I could escape the noise somehow I would definitely go back- but there is no escaping the noise and the sites further away from the road are all seasonal :-(
May 20, 2025 · Joe Jordan JrGreat RV park near (but not too near) the interstate. You can hear big rigs when they hit their jake brakes, but the sound of running water in the campground mostly drowns it out. Staff very helpful.
May 18, 2025 · John PattilloNice camp area. Campground is nicely kept. Nice store with anything that you might need while there. Clean restrooms and showers. The only negative was the loud trucks that ran all night long.
May 29, 2025 · Meresa MannWe stayed at Camp A While on our way to Kentucky. We enjoyed our stay over nite. This camp ground is beautifully kept. Very neat and tidy, and a bonus now all decorated for Halloween. Owners love their jobs and you can tell! They are pleasant, helpful and offer a great little store full of goodies. Decided to stay there on our way back. We were running late and gave them a call. So helpful and even offered to help us park. Will be back in the Spring and definitely staying there!
