Burns Lake Campground

14 Forest Lake Rd, Whitefield, NH 03598, USA

4.0
It's quite and friendly staff just not much to offer for activities like most campgrounds I've been too. They do have ladder ball, horseshoes, and corn hole. They have swing set with two swings for the kids. They do have a pool, however we weren't impressed by it. T11 and T8 are nice sites. T8 looked to be the bigger one it is huge. The better sites in our opinion is T8 - T11.They do have campsites further in the back not on the map if you like a little more seclusion, a few of them you have to walk to. There is no camp store but they have wood you can purchase. A Plus you do not have to pay for showers. Campground is in a nice location and if you get T8 it has a view of the pond which is pretty at night and in the morning. There is nature sounds all around of birds and bullfrogs. There is a loon on the water makes pretty sounds at night and all different birds making their music early morning. Plus they have bunnies 🐰🦆🌸🌻🌼 - Sherry Daigle

Services Offered

Burns Lake Campground provides essential services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay, focusing on the core elements of a true camping experience amidst nature.

  • Tent Sites: A variety of tent sites are available, including those with beautiful views of the pond (like T8-T11, with T8 being particularly large) and more secluded, wooded sites further in the back, some of which may require a short walk for ultimate privacy.
  • Camper Sites: Spacious sites are available for various types of campers and RVs, though specific hookup details (water, electric, sewer) are best confirmed directly with the campground, as the focus in reviews is often on the tranquil setting rather than full utility hookups for every site.
  • Bunk House Rentals: A newer bunk house option is available, providing an alternative for those who prefer a solid structure over a tent but still desire a rustic camping feel.
  • Clean Restrooms and Free Showers: The campground offers clean facilities, and a significant highlight is that campers "do not have to pay for showers," which is a much-appreciated amenity.
  • Firewood Sales: While there isn't a dedicated camp store, firewood is available for purchase on-site, essential for enjoying campfires.
  • Recreational Games: Basic activities are available for guest use, including ladder ball, horseshoes, and cornhole, providing simple entertainment.
  • Children's Swing Set: A swing set with two swings is provided for younger campers, offering a simple play area.
  • Swimming Pool: A pool is available for guests to use, offering a refreshing way to cool off during warm weather. (Note: One review mentioned it was "not impressed by it," suggesting it might be a basic pool, but still a valuable amenity).
  • Pet-Friendly: Pets are welcome at the campground, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along for their outdoor adventure. Specific rules regarding leashes and waste disposal should be followed.
  • Beautiful Natural Setting: The presence of nature sounds, including birds and bullfrogs, and the sight of a loon on the water, are inherent "services" in the sense that they contribute significantly to the peaceful and immersive experience provided.
  • Owner Hospitality: The friendly staff, particularly owners Brian and Alice, offer a high level of personal service, including occasionally building bonfires for families, creating a very welcoming atmosphere.

Features / Highlights

Burns Lake Campground truly shines with its unique features and highlights, emphasizing tranquility, natural beauty, and a personalized camping experience:

Promotions or Special Offers

Given the personalized and family-run nature of Burns Lake Campground, direct "promotions" in the traditional marketing sense may not be heavily advertised. However, the value and experience offered often come through their direct interactions and the inherent features of the campground. Based on customer reviews and common practices for quiet, owner-operated campgrounds, here's what one might infer or inquire about:

  • Personalized Hospitality: While not a discount, the high level of personal service and friendliness from owners Brian and Alice (e.g., offering a bonfire for families under the stars) can be considered an added value that enhances the overall camping experience beyond a simple transaction. This level of care is a "special offer" in itself.
  • Competitive Rates for Tranquility: Campgrounds that emphasize peace and quiet often offer rates that reflect this unique selling proposition. While specific pricing isn't publicly detailed in the reviews, it's implied that the experience provides good value for those seeking a less crowded environment.
  • Potential for Extended Stay Discounts: Like many campgrounds, Burns Lake may offer discounted rates for longer stays (e.g., weekly or monthly rates) compared to nightly fees. It is always recommended to inquire about these possibilities when making a reservation, especially for those planning a more extended New Hampshire vacation.
  • No Hidden Fees: The highlight of "you do not have to pay for showers" is a clear indication of transparency and avoiding unexpected costs, which can feel like a promotional benefit compared to other campgrounds that might charge for such amenities.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any specific offerings, it is always best to contact Burns Lake Campground directly by phone. Their friendly staff will be able to provide precise details for your planned visit.
