Freehold Township is centrally located in Monmouth County, making Nomoco Activity Area reachable from various parts of New Jersey. Its proximity "just off the highway" is a recurring positive point from visitor reviews, indicating easy access for those traveling by car. Monmouth County Park System Management: Being part of the well-regarded Monmouth County Park System ensures high standards of maintenance, conservation efforts, and the provision of diverse public programs and activities throughout the year.
As a facility managed by the Monmouth County Park System, Nomoco Activity Area and Turkey Swamp Park generally do not offer typical commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a private business might. Their pricing is set to cover operational costs and provide public access to recreational facilities. However, there are inherent "value" aspects and structured offerings that can be considered beneficial for New Jersey locals:
Affordable Group Camping Rates: As a publicly managed park facility, the rates for group camping at Nomoco are typically more affordable than private campgrounds, making outdoor experiences accessible for various organizations and budgets within New Jersey.
Monmouth County Resident Benefits: While not explicitly stated as a discount for Nomoco camping, the Monmouth County Park System often provides preferential rates or early access to programs and facilities for county residents. For other group programs offered by the Park System (e.g., hiking programs), there are often reduced fees for Monmouth County groups. It is always advisable for locals to inquire if resident benefits apply to camping reservations or related programs.
Seasonal Programming and Educational Events: Turkey Swamp Park, like other Monmouth County Parks, hosts a variety of seasonal programs, guided nature walks, environmental education sessions, and special events throughout the year. These programs, some of which may have a nominal fee, offer enriching experiences that complement a camping trip and often provide opportunities for group activities like archery, wilderness survival, and geocaching.
Value of Inclusions: The camping fees include access to amenities such as picnic shelters, ground grills/fire rings, water, restrooms, and showers, offering significant value for the price. A small amount of firewood is also provided at each group site.
Free Park Access for Day Use: While camping requires a fee, many of the park's attractions, such as the extensive trail system, playgrounds, and lake access for fishing (with license), are available for day use without an entry fee, allowing locals to enjoy the natural beauty and activities even without an overnight stay.

Nice little campground just off the highway with level, gravel, full hook up sites. Good water pressure and friendly staff. This has been a regular stop for us on our travels for a couple years now. Only 4 stars because it can get a bit noisy from the highway but not too bad.

Not that bad of experience, could have been better. Let’s get to the pros and cons:Side notes:•Showing up past 5-6pm there’s a lock on the gate and the confirmation email has a lock code to open it from the backside.•2 nights of camping is $45Pros:•In the park, a short drive like a 3 min to get to the family campsite.•Bathrooms had showers and warm water•Our campground (29) was felt pretty private which was good.•garbage bins were in walkable distance•campground was clean and no trash was seenWalking on the road through campsites we’re beautiful•close enough to Walmart and other stores if you need anything (10-15min drive)Cons:•I believe we were close to the highway, you can hear some cars driving faintly•our group had a weird experience with someone who stopped their car right in front of our campsite for 2 hours before we had to confront them. Was very odd, and a bit of a scary situation. Definitely really random and wish there was a way that could have not happened.

Turkey swamp campground are super clean, restrooms are clean, bathroom has hot water shower. Definitely recommend this place.
Jun 05, 2025 · Deepali KapoorThere's something for everyone at Turkey Swamp Campgrounds. We have our Airstream, there are bigger campers here, tents and a few cabins to rent. The Rangers are kind and helpful. They patrol regularly so it's safe too. It's just pure, outdoor fun!
Jun 20, 2024 · Liz HoatsonFor a County park this campground is really nice. Check in was easy, rangers were helpful and friendly. Sites are all pull-through and well spaced. Sites are also big, ours had enough room for our truck, 30' camper and SUV, and probably could have fit another car. Nice big clear and shaded area for outdoor relaxing, fire ring, tents, etc. As others have said the water connection is between sites so bring 30 plus feet of hose, 50' to be safe. Turns within the campground could be tough for really long rigs. Only complaint is that the dump station is in the middle of the campground near the bath house which is weird, not exactly convenient to pass by while leaving. I highly recommend camping here.
Jul 29, 2023 · Chris DoerrVery nice place. Colors are already crossed here, most of the leaves left the trees. It has nice playground, trails, and boat decks.Very well maintained, very clean, looks like inner roads are cleaned on the daily basis. No 🍃 on the roads.Rest room is available and its very clean. No fee to enter into this park. 2 big parking is available, both are connecting the lake. It's less than 50 steps.Nice lake view, benches are available to have food and relax. Getting little cold here in the evenings.
Oct 31, 2022 · SS SSWent to this place to empty my black tanks. They allow outsiders that do not stay a $20 fee to use the dump station. Worked out perfect, used it twice while staying on a family's farm on vacation. Easy in and out. Go to the main office and they will give you a map of where to go.
Jul 23, 2023 · veronica simsAt one point this park was a quiet relaxing place. Now the rangers can and will harass anyone who dares to so much as sit down at a picnic table to rest. Don't come here unless you want to be harassed by rangers with nothing better to do than ruin sometimes relaxing afternoon.
Apr 10, 2024 · Douglas SwiftI love this park always clean, and sometimes you’ll run into a horse or two. Great spot to walk the dog or even yourself. If you zoom into the picture, you can see a bunch of baby spiders. You can always find something to take a picture of or even paint
Jul 30, 2018 · Stan LeeNice place for a larger group camping. Has flush toilets. Is semi close to turkey swamp lake and and it's very clean. It's a good place for a week end tent camping trip
May 05, 2018 · William MooreEnjoyed our time camping here. Facilities were extremely clean. Can't wait to come back here!
