Barstow / Calico KOA Holiday Reviews
It’s a solid, practical stopover: great hookups and helpful staff make it easy when you're passing through. The amenities are a nice bonus, especially if you're camping with kids or pets. But if you're after peace and quiet—or shaded, spacious sites in a scenic setting—it falls a bit short. The traffic noise and desert exposure reminded me it’s more of a functional RV park than a dreamy campground.
Jul 01, 2025 · Rolfe FloresVery convenient stop on a long travel day with travel trailer. Our location was good, level and several trees. Bathrooms and showers were older but clean. Water and electric only but dump station is easy to access.
May 20, 2025 · Clifford CareyThe cabin was clean and we found the beds to be very comfortable as we prefer a softer mattress. Our children LOVED the bunk beds and privacy of their own room. We had enough space. We were grateful for the kitchenette which had both a mini fridge and microwave. Also included was a toaster and a kpod style coffee pot. Some things I felt were noteworthy: Our deluxe cabin (3) had a clean bathtub but it had been disabled to only use as a shower and the water was unable to get hot. There were hot showers available in 2 locations on the grounds but don't pay extra to take a hot bath. Although this is a KOA Holiday, it had no activities. There were movie rentals and a dvd player in the suite. There was a pool, playground, sand pit, bike rentals. The metal toys on the playground got quite hot in the desert sun. There are no paved surfaces on the grounds so bike riding was a bit of a challenge for my youngest kids. All in all we were pleased with this KOA. Good as a waypoint between locations. Beautiful desert views and very peaceful.
Jun 16, 2025 · Dawn DiggleWe went to enjoy the Calico trails.. You could stay at the Calico Ghost Town rv park instead, but I think our choice was perfect! Very quiet with shade.I will add, charging me an extra $12. Arriving early.... It seemed a bit of a racket.... Don't get a discount leaving early....
Apr 09, 2025 · AL ALLENA great stop in the middle of nowhere. We’re headed northwest from Texas to Washington pulling a large trailer. This KOA has easy access from the highway. The checkin was easy and the spots are well placed and large. Nice tables and a decent park. The laundry room was ok and they have a pretty decent store on site. Overall a nice surprise compared to what we’ve seen.
