Apple River Hideaway Reviews
Worst 'campground' I've ever been to. We would have been better off camping in a ditch. My friend booked 9 spots for this past weekend. A few days before departing, we found out there is NO TUBING. Literally the reason we chose this site. We had 6 campers plus a bunch of people driving in separate to stay with friends. Guess what the first thing they make you pay for when you arrive is? A parking ticket for your car, even if you've PAID for a CAMPING SPOT ALREADY. They hire teenagers so it was taking a good 10+ minutes to get cars checked in. Probably because everyone was arguing paying for a car when they've already paid for a campsite. Once we got everyone in, we had to figure out how to buy over a dozen people tubes, and figure out transportation so we could go tubing on Saturday. The last straw was the electrical breakers kept going out on us so we couldn't even have power in our (small) camper. Would never consider going back to this place. Glad we had good friends to enjoy terrible situation we found ourselves in!
Jul 19, 2022 · Karla KWe go to this campground every year. The sites are beautiful, staff is amazing, the owner is personable and accommodating. We will be going back for our annual river trip, again and again. Love this place!!! There's unlimited tubing with your tube rental, unlike rivers edge. With the new route of shuttles we had gotten turned around. When asking for directions the staff at rivers edge were EXTREMELY rude, yelling at us for even asking for help...!? Looking forward to next year at the hideaway campground!
Aug 03, 2022 · Brianne BarnesCannot say it loud enough -- Do not stay here! The bathrooms are disgusting (most of our group wouldn't go inside of them). The showers were broken except for on stall in the men's room - and there wasn't even a shower curtain or place to set your items. No fire pits, just dead grass. The service was poor and often did not respond or assist in any timely manner (perhaps because they were always drinking/smoking). We had to separate our trash, which we were not told until we went to get our garbage deposit. Overall, we recommend you stay somewhere else. This place costs a lot of money and it clearly is not being reinvested into the campground.
Sep 03, 2022 · Dillon DeBoerSpent a few days at Apple River Hideaway. It was amazing, even without tube rental. Site had electric and water for a great price! My ladies and I just plopped our chairs into the river the first day. The second day had a blast floating down. The staff was awesome with firewood and ice delivery. Totally recommend for all who want to have fun at the Apple River!
Jul 22, 2022 · Rita MartiniBeen twice and had soo much fun!!! The atmosphere was fun, the scenery was beautiful, the owner was really nice, personable and helpful. Our family had a blast each time. There's plenty of amenities that are covered while camping which is helpful. People need to remember you are there to CAMP, not stay at a luxurious hotel. We will DEFINITELY be coming back as long as this place is here!
