Based on the available information, 192-284 Campground offers a straightforward and basic set of services, focusing on providing essential camping facilities rather than extensive amenities. This aligns with its reputation as an affordable option for a no-frills coastal getaway:
- Campsites for Parking and Setup: The primary service is providing designated spots for parking and setting up camping equipment, whether it be tents or self-contained RVs.
- Shower Facilities: Showers are mentioned in customer reviews, indicating their availability for camper use. However, the exact condition and accessibility (e.g., coin-operated, open hours) are not detailed, so campers should be prepared for a basic setup.
- Restroom Facilities: While not explicitly detailed, it is implied that basic restroom facilities would be available to complement the shower services. Campers should be prepared for a utilitarian experience.
- Affordability: A key service highlight is its affordability, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers seeking to experience the Washington coast without high accommodation costs.
It is important to note that reviews suggest a very basic offering, with no mention of services like potable water at every site, picnic tables, fire rings, or power hookups. Campers should plan to be self-sufficient and bring all necessary supplies, including water, cooking equipment, and any personal hygiene items. The experience at 192-284 Campground is geared towards those who are comfortable with minimalist camping and are prepared for a less amenity-rich environment.
While 192-284 Campground is described as a basic site, it possesses several features and highlights that, for the right type of camper, make it an appealing destination, particularly for Washington locals:
- Exceptional Affordability: The most frequently highlighted feature is its "very affordable" price. This makes it an accessible option for individuals, families, and groups looking to enjoy the Washington coast without breaking the bank. It provides a valuable entry point into outdoor recreation for many.
- Beautiful Coastal Location: Despite its basic nature, the campground is situated in a "beautiful place to stay," implying scenic surroundings typical of the Westport area. This proximity to the coast allows campers to enjoy fresh ocean air, listen to the waves, and potentially have easy access to the beach for walks, kitesurfing, or razor clamming (seasonal).
- Proximity to Westport Attractions: Its location in Westport means campers are close to various local attractions. This includes the Westport Maritime Museum, Grays Harbor Lighthouse (the tallest lighthouse in Washington), and numerous opportunities for sport fishing charters, whale watching tours, and Browse local shops and eateries.
- Potential for Quiet Off-Peak: While one review noted concerns about safety and unauthorized use, the "beautiful place" aspect suggests that during quieter times or for experienced campers who feel comfortable in more independent settings, the natural beauty can truly shine.
However, it is crucial for potential visitors to also consider some reported aspects which, while not strictly features, influence the overall experience:
- Lack of Consistent Oversight: One reviewer expressed feeling unsafe due to unsupervised individuals using facilities and parking in spots without visible passes. This suggests a potentially lower level of active supervision or enforcement compared to highly regulated state parks, which could be a highlight for some who prefer more freedom, but a concern for others prioritizing security.
- Outdated Information: The review mentioned that the website was not updated to reflect significant closures, meaning only a limited number of sites were available. This highlights the importance of direct contact or recent research before traveling, as information might not be current online.
- No Discovery Pass Requirement (Implied): The absence of Discovery Passes being seen, coupled with the affordability, might imply that this campground operates differently from a typical Washington State Park, potentially offering a unique operational model or fee structure.

Very affordable beautiful place to stay.
Feb 01, 2025 · Sarah ArroyoAs a single solo female traveller I did not feel safe here at all, which is an unusual experience for me in a state park. I drove thru a few different times, and each time there was people parking in spots, and using the showers etc. And these people were not the type I would want to hang around with in a campsite. Not a Discovery pass to be seen either. They also had not updated the website to show pretty much the entire campground was closed except for about 20 sites. I didn’t to find out that until I had driven all the way there. This fell far short of expectations.
May 15, 2024 · Corinne PercyCampground is in short walking distance to a beach full of stones. Need to change tokens for shower. Can hear the tide sounds at night. Has updated restrooms and older one.
Jun 27, 2022 · Yijing Yin$20 to tent camp, but you must bring cash. The showers are free and the bathrooms are nice. Lots of fresh water available. The campgrounds were dry and appointed w new benches and fire pits. The campgrounds were very clean The cabins and yurts looked nice, but we didn’t see the inside.
Mar 27, 2023 · Michelle MahoneySuper well maintained campground. We were in the strip that was close to the highway so a little noisy but otherwise great, a lot of the campground was flooded while we were there but it should dry up by the summer.
