While there's a train nearby that "blows its horn as it goes through town," guests note that it's "not that much of an issue" for the reasonable price, suggesting that a small trade-off is well worth the overall comfort and convenience. The presence of "full-timers" who "keep their areas neat and tidy" also speaks to a respectful and settled community atmosphere. Westbound RV Park is conveniently located at 7620 Co Rd 429, D'Hanis, TX 78850, USA. D'Hanis is a quaint, historic town nestled in Medina County, situated between the larger cities of San Antonio to the east and Uvalde to the west. This strategic position places it within easy reach of major population centers while offering a quieter, small-town atmosphere. D'Hanis itself is perhaps best known for its rich Alsatian heritage, being one of the settlements founded by Henri Castro in the 1800s, and historically, for its famous D'Hanis Brick and Tile Company. The town retains a charming, rural Texas feel, making it an appealing stop for those seeking a break from bustling highways.
The park boasts excellent accessibility for RVers, regardless of their rig size. It's located just off U.S. Route 90, a significant east-west highway, and is easily reached from Interstate 35, the major north-south corridor through Texas. Specifically, from D'Hanis on Hwy 90, you'll go North on FM 1796 to the second street, then turn left on County Rd 429, and the RV Park will be on the right. This straightforward approach is a major plus for travelers, as highlighted by guests who found it "an easy in and out." Its location is particularly advantageous for those traveling along Route 90 or commuting for work in the surrounding areas. Furthermore, the park is described as being "only a block away from Old Historic Downtown D'Hanis," which offers multiple restaurants, a post office, a bank, and a grocery store. This proximity to essential local amenities ensures that guests can easily access supplies and services without extensive travel, adding significantly to the convenience of their stay.
- Full Hookup RV Sites: Westbound RV Park provides full hookups (FHU's) at each site, including 20, 30, and 50 amp electricity, water, and sewer connections. This ensures maximum convenience, allowing RVers to use their onboard facilities without needing to move their rig for waste disposal or water refills.
- Spacious Pull-Through and Back-In Sites: The park offers both pull-through and back-in sites, designed to accommodate a wide range of RV sizes, including large Class A motorhomes with trailers (up to 69 feet total length, as noted by a reviewer). This makes "easy access" for setup.

- 24/7 Onsite Laundry Facility: A dedicated laundry facility is available around the clock, providing a practical amenity for both short-term visitors and long-term residents.
- Complimentary Picnic Tables: Each site is equipped with a picnic table, offering a convenient outdoor space for dining, relaxation, or enjoying the Texas weather.

- Dump Station: A convenient dump station is available on-site, providing an easy option for waste disposal, even if not using a full hookup site.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: Pets are welcome at Westbound RV Park, though they must be leashed at all times and cleaned up after, ensuring a harmonious environment for all guests and their furry companions.
- Excellent Value for Price: A major highlight is the affordability of the park ("Great stay for the price!"), especially considering the comprehensive amenities offered. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers and long-term residents alike.
- Big Rig Friendly: The park is explicitly "big rig friendly," with long, level sites and easy access to hookups, allowing even the longest RVs with trailers to stay without unhooking. This is a significant convenience for many RVers.

Great stay for the price! I'm 69' total length with class A & trailer, the hookups were easy to got access to and I did not have to unhook anything. The site was long enough and was almost perfectly level! Yes there is a train close by that blows its horn as it goes through town (this would be an issue if I was paying $100 per night) since I am only paying $40 it is not an issue (Earplugs are cheap!, but its not that much of an issue) a few of the spots have full-timers and they keep their areas neat and tidy. It was an easy in and out. I will absolutely stay here again.
Feb 03, 2025 · Dan HgmailNice and quiet place to stay during the winter. Level gravel FHU parking sites with Texas grass (dirt and clumps of grass) and a picnic table. Plenty of room for our 39’ RV and toad to park. Hook ups conveniently located. Ants and goatheads are a problem. Trains are nearby, but they did not bother us. It was very windy and, as a result, very dusty (not their fault). We would stay here again.
Mar 31, 2025 · Corgi GirlStayed here for a week during the eclipse. Offered a great rate and was a great little park. Appreciate the newer laundry room. There is a train nearby that is noisy, but I do not fault the park for that. Appreciate the flexibility of letting us stay in our converted bus. Will stay again if passing through.
Apr 13, 2024 · Brian CryslerOvernight here in Feb 2023. Nice place. Full hookups gravel pads. Small but owner said he usually can accommodate drive-ups.$50 per night is common price these daysWe stayed in a 30 foot 5th wheel.Oh, there are trains but didn't bother us
Feb 03, 2023 · Jim BackIf you are looking for a quite place to recharge, this is it. It is a small RV campground. You must be totally self contained.. the park offers full hook up for long and short stays. The owner is very accommodating and the park is kept clean. There is a lot of history to see in the area. The park itself is right next door to the D'Hanis brick and tile factory that was established in 1905. The people here are very friendly. I would definitely stop here again! Thanks
