Volcano Country RV Park Introduce
For Californians planning an unforgettable adventure to the spectacular geothermal features and hiking trails of **Lassen Volcanic National Park**, **Volcano Country RV Park** in Mineral, CA, offers a highly convenient place to set up base camp. Strategically located just a short drive from the park's Southwest Entrance, this RV park is one of the closest full-service options available to the national park, making it a popular choice for travelers prioritizing proximity and essential amenities.
The park is characterized by its heavily treed setting, which lends a pleasant, natural forest atmosphere to the camping experience. It operates in conjunction with the adjacent Mineral Lodge and Restaurant, creating a convenient hub for travelers. We are proud to note that this establishment identifies as both **veteran-owned** and **women-owned**, supporting local, dedicated business owners in Northern California. It provides an essential stopping point right off the historic Highway 36 East, offering a blend of basic convenience and natural seclusion.
Volcano Country RV Park accommodates both recreational vehicles and tent campers, offering a more developed alternative to primitive camping within the Lassen National Forest. While the location and the surrounding tranquility are consistently praised, potential visitors should be advised that the infrastructure is described by some as "no-frills," with reported issues concerning the reliability of the electrical hookups and the cleanliness and condition of the restroom and shower facilities. These practical considerations are important for guests, particularly those relying on consistent power for modern conveniences like Starlink, or those accustomed to new, pristine amenities.
**Volcano Country RV Park** is a dedicated RV and tent camping facility situated in the small mountain community of Mineral, CA. It functions as the primary private gateway for many visitors to Lassen Volcanic National Park, located only about nine miles away. The park prides itself on offering full hookup sites—a premium amenity often unavailable within the national park itself. Its operational base, the Mineral Lodge and General Store complex, provides a convenient check-in point, a supply source, and an adjacent dining option, fostering a community feel among travelers.
This campground is designed for the convenience of the California road-tripper, offering onsite services that simplify mountain travel. Guests should expect a rustic, forest-style campground experience with the fundamental necessities provided. The management is part of the local Mineral community and runs the park with a family-oriented approach. However, due to its deeply wooded setting, RV campers using satellite internet services like Starlink should be prepared for potential connectivity challenges.
The park’s acceptance of credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, in addition to collecting a camping fee, makes payment straightforward upon arrival. Furthermore, the explicit welcome of dogs ensures that Californians traveling with their canine companions have a designated and accommodating place to stay.
The park boasts a premium location for high-desert and volcanic exploration in Northern California.

Volcano Country RV Park is worth choosing for the discerning California traveler whose **primary goal is the fastest and easiest access to the wonders of Lassen Volcanic National Park** while still having full RV hookups. For those planning multi-day hikes or park explorations, the short nine-mile drive from this park to the Southwest Entrance is a major advantage over staying in more distant, yet perhaps more modernized, campgrounds.
This park caters to a traveler who values a rustic, quiet, and forested setting over polished, resort-style amenities. It is a fantastic opportunity to unplug and be fully immersed in the mountain environment, especially if you are prepared for the potential connectivity limitations caused by the abundant tree canopy. The ability to dine at the adjacent restaurant or grab supplies at the general store adds a layer of convenience that is invaluable in a remote area like Mineral, CA.
However, potential visitors must balance the park's excellent location and convenient full hookups with the necessity of a realistic expectation regarding the facilities. If your camping experience absolutely requires spotless, new restroom and shower facilities or highly reliable electricity for remote work or medical equipment, it is advisable to call ahead for current conditions or consider alternative RV parks further from the immediate park entrance. For the majority of adventurous Californians, however, Volcano Country RV Park provides an authentic, conveniently located, and amenity-rich base that perfectly facilitates an unforgettable trip to the home of all four types of volcanoes.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stayed for 5 nights. The older man that I talked to when we checked in at the store was very rude. I mentioned that I had emailed and called multiple times but they never called me back to answer if there was an open view to the sky. I work and travel from my 5th wheel and have to use Starlink every week. They did not respond to emails or phone calls. The park is heavily treed which was nice but mad Starlink connectivity really difficult. I have a 150ft Starlink cord which helped. The worst part of the campground for us was the electricity. It would turn on and off regularly. The breaker never flipped… very strange. Loosing power like that made work difficult as it would shut down my Starlink. The other negative reviews are accurate. The bathrooms are pretty nasty. The dumpster is so full it won’t close and we are in bear country here.We did have dinner at their restaurant, which was nice. The elk burger was great. The remainder of family and staff there were quite nice.We will not likely return to this place because of how unreliable the electric was.
October 02 · W LBathrooms are disgusting. 🤢 y’all! I stayed here because they offered tent camping with a shower. I’ve never been more disgusted by a bathroom in my life. I’ve been in outhouses that were cleaner. Please see the pictures I’ve posted. Everyone was nice, the campground was nice, but I cannot get over the showers! and the outlets did not work.
July 20 · Kallan PaigeThis campsite was nice. The hot shower was good. However, the building, shower room, toilet facilities were very old and shabby. The staffs were friendly. If you don't wanna cook, the breakfast in Lassen Mineral Lodge were not bad. They have lunch and dinner but I did not try. The store in Lassen Mineral Lodge is very convenient. This RV Park is only 15 mins away from Lassen Volcanic National Park which is very convenient.
July 07 · Rosina SuThe campsite was nice. It was level and big trees were awesome. Had a nice dinner down at the lodge and the IPAs on tap were great. The bathrooms were gross. We have been on the road for 90+ days and these bathrooms made the top worst list. I’ll leave it at that.
October 16 · John swiftThe tent campground sites could use a bit of a clean up, as far as the dead trees and branches go. Cleaning that up would make a couple sites bigger. Sites A and C could use some leveling to accommodate larger tents too. But I still loved camping there because it's the only place to camp and be in Mineral !
