Let's delve into the details of what makes Tinsley's Old 66 Highway a suitable and practical choice for your RV adventures in Oklahoma, focusing on its unique location, the services it offers, and what truly makes it shine.
Tinsley's Old 66 Highway RV Park is strategically located at 2701 E Main St, Weatherford, OK 73096, USA. Its most distinctive feature is its direct proximity to Historic Route 66. For those embarking on a journey along "The Mother Road," this park offers an authentic and convenient stop, allowing you to easily continue your historic road trip.
While it's on a segment of Route 66, it's also very accessible from Interstate 40 (I-40), a major east-west interstate highway that parallels much of Route 66 in Oklahoma. This makes it a practical choice for all types of travelers, not just those specifically following the historic route. Weatherford itself is a thriving small city in Western Oklahoma, offering a good range of local amenities. Within a short drive from the park, you can find gas stations, local diners, and other essential services.
For those looking to explore the area, Weatherford boasts several attractions. The Stafford Air & Space Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is a world-class museum celebrating the career of local astronaut Lt. General Thomas P. Stafford and the history of aviation and spaceflight. The Heartland of America Museum offers a glimpse into local history, while the Weatherford Wind Energy Park showcases Oklahoma's growing renewable energy sector. These attractions, combined with local parks and dining options, make Weatherford a welcoming and interesting place to stay.
A critical note for big rigs, as highlighted by a past reviewer: if following Google Maps directions off the highway, you might encounter a very tiny bridge. While a 32-foot rig reportedly made it through, it was tight. It's advisable for larger RVs to confirm clearance or research alternative routes to avoid potential issues. Despite this navigation nuance, the park's overall accessibility to major roads and local conveniences remains a strong point.

Tinsley's Old 66 Highway Reviews
This place is right off route 66 we are traveling in a van so just paid for power to run our AC. the guy who ownes the place was super friendly. We pulled up plugged in and crashed out, nobody bothered us it was pretty private. It's not sketchy, everyone there looked to be working travelers. We enjoyed our rest then moved on the next day, it was only $25 so that was nice.
Aug 07, 2022 · Gregory JohnstonThis spot right on old route 66 slightly pulled us in and storms up ahead made us feel this was the safest spot for the night. We ended up pulling over here one evening on our road trip back to WI from the desert for a peaceful nights sleep with electricity/water hook ups and dump stations with easy pull through. $25 a night, not bad.. We were excited to have electricity to turn on our air for a night as we had been driving through hot temps all day. The gentleman who helped us check in was friendly and he made it very welcoming, he wasn't on sight when we called but he got there super fast when we said we were close by. I can see how it could get crowded (what RV park doesn't these days), but it was a quiet place to stop and get a good nights sleep with plenty of grass for the dogs to roam. The only downfall (which is huge for us dog lovers) was the poor dog tied up alone outside a trailer across from us for the whole time we stayed, even through the night. That is not cool in our book and that would not be happening with animals if we ran an rv park. You don't get to have animals and just leave them tied up outside for days alone. We left the poor dog food and water and booked out of there so our hearts didn't break even more listening to this poor pup cry for attention. You would think the people who run the place would care a little more too....And a heads up because we saw no warnings, Big rigs there is also a very tiny bridge you will have to fit your rig through if you go the directions google takes you off the highway, make sure you have clearance before attempting to fit through, otherwise you may have to take a small detour to get around. (Our 32' made it but it was tight). Nice, easy, friendly place to stop for a night though, minus the dog situation.
May 17, 2020 · Erin AndersonPark is some what run down. There were fireants s everywhere on my site. The people were very nice but the park seems to be folks who live there in older RVs. Good news is they had 50 amp and pull throughs
Nov 02, 2023 · FRANK HOULEA nice, friendly place. Little to offer in amenities, but had good electricity, water, and sewer. Was kind of crowded, but we only needed one night and this fit the bill well for a very reasonable price. I would come here again. The gentleman who serviced us was welcoming and helpful.
Jul 15, 2018 · Bry JThis place is a normal camp ground, 5 star owners are the best. We were traveling to Arkansas but the wind wasn’t cooperating , so we called for a spot for the night. Sure come on in. Was so welcoming, and very very reasonable. Thank you.
