I called and needed a spot for one night with bathrooms/showers. We arrived I went into the office the guy with glasses started bugging out that no one told him anyone was checking in, it was awkward, I said they told me to leave money in the drop box. He said ok, I asked where our site was and it was like I was an inconvenience to be shown where it is. Well you can see in the photo I posted that we were next to a trash pile. Another guy kept tooling around over there with his tractor which was quite disruptive. Went to checkout the bathroom and it was disgusting I wouldn’t dare to use it, the sink looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in forever, the white shower curtain looked like it had black on it possibly mold I’m not sure I walked out. Bathrooms are not cleaned on the regular. We opted to take a sponge bath in our camper. We stayed here because we had plumbing issues and then couldn’t use the amenities. This pace is long term residence, I don’t recommend if passing through. $50 cash for one nite you would think the place would be clean. - A H

While some RV parks cater primarily to short-term travelers, The Old Homestead RV Park is distinctly geared towards long-term residents, fostering a true sense of community and belonging. If you're looking for a place where you can settle in, get to know your neighbors, and enjoy a consistent living environment, this park is designed with your needs in mind.

The decision to live in an RV, whether seasonally or year-round, comes with the desire for comfort, convenience, and a supportive atmosphere. The Old Homestead RV Park understands the nuances of long-term RV living, aiming to provide a home-like setting for its residents. While some aspects of the park's services, especially for transient guests, may have received mixed feedback, the overwhelming sentiment from its long-term residents highlights the strength of its community and the helpfulness of its owners. This article will provide a balanced overview of The Old Homestead RV Park, focusing on what makes it suitable for its primary audience: those seeking a long-term RV residency in the Goodman, Missouri area.

The Old Homestead RV Park is located at 557 Olympia Road, Goodman, MO 64843, USA. This address places it within the peaceful rural setting of Goodman, a small town in McDonald County, Missouri. Goodman offers a quiet, relaxed pace of life, typical of many charming communities in Southwest Missouri. The park's location on Olympia Road suggests a tranquil environment, away from the immediate hustle and bustle of major highways, yet still accessible for daily needs.

While Goodman itself provides basic necessities, its proximity to larger towns like Neosho and Joplin (both within a reasonable driving distance) offers residents access to a wider array of shopping, dining, healthcare facilities, and entertainment options. For instance, Joplin, a regional hub, provides extensive services and is easily reachable via major routes. This accessibility ensures that while residents enjoy the quiet charm of Goodman, they are never too far from modern conveniences and larger city amenities when needed. The rural setting also offers opportunities for enjoying the natural beauty of the Ozarks region, with various outdoor activities potentially within reach.

As a park primarily catering to long-term residents, The Old Homestead RV Park focuses on providing essential services and a stable environment. While specific amenities for short-term visitors might differ, the core offerings for its residential community generally include:

  • Full Hookups: Most long-term RV sites offer comprehensive hookups, including water, sewer, and electricity (often with 30-amp and 50-amp options), crucial for comfortable, extended living.
  • Dedicated Sites: The park provides designated spaces for RVs, allowing residents to set up their homes with a degree of permanence.
  • On-Site Management/Ownership: The presence of owners on-site or nearby is vital for addressing resident needs and maintaining the community. Reviews highlight the helpfulness of the owners.
  • Waste Management: Regular trash collection services are a standard offering for residential RV parks.
  • Access to Common Facilities: While the condition of communal bathrooms/showers might be a point of contention for some short-term visitors, the park generally offers such facilities. For long-term residents, the primary use of their RV's self-contained amenities is common.

It is important for prospective long-term residents to clarify all included services and utility arrangements, as electricity might sometimes be an additional charge for extended stays, a common practice in many long-term RV parks.

The true appeal of The Old Homestead RV Park for its intended audience lies in its unique features and the positive experiences of its long-term residents. These highlights distinguish it as a viable and desirable option for permanent or extended RV living:

  • Strong Community of People: This is a consistent and overwhelmingly positive highlight. Residents describe "a great community of people," fostering a supportive and friendly atmosphere where neighbors interact and help one another.
  • Helpful and "Cool" Owners: The owners are frequently praised as "really cool people" who are "helpful with everything" and "will help with anything." This level of owner involvement and support is a significant asset for long-term residents, creating a more personalized and caring environment.
  • Designed for Long-Term Residence: Unlike parks that are primarily for transient guests, this park is explicitly noted as a "long term residence." This focus means the community and its operations are geared towards the needs of those staying for extended periods.
  • Peaceful Living Environment: Despite one specific complaint about noise from a tractor, the general sentiment for long-term living suggests a relatively quiet atmosphere, which is often a key factor for residents seeking a peaceful home.
  • Affordability: While not explicitly stated in the provided reviews, long-term RV park living often offers a more affordable housing solution compared to traditional rentals or homeownership, making it attractive for budget-conscious individuals or families.
  • Location Benefits: Its location in Goodman offers a quiet, rural lifestyle while still being within reasonable driving distance to larger towns like Neosho and Joplin for extensive shopping, medical, and entertainment needs.

For those interested in making The Old Homestead RV Park their long-term home, contacting the management directly is the most effective way to inquire about current availability, rates for extended stays, and any specific community guidelines. Given its focus on long-term residents, availability may be limited, so early inquiry is recommended.
