Location and Accessibility
Sun Retreats Crystal River is strategically located at 237 S Rock Crusher Rd, Crystal River, FL 34429, USA. This address places it squarely in the heart of Florida's "Nature Coast," a region renowned for its pristine springs, abundant wildlife, and access to the Gulf of Mexico. Crystal River itself is famously known as the "Manatee Capital of the World," offering unparalleled opportunities to view and even swim with these gentle giants in their natural habitat, particularly in the cooler months.
Accessibility to the park is generally straightforward. Rock Crusher Road is a well-known artery in Crystal River, connecting to major routes that make coming and going relatively easy. For RVers, this means less time navigating complex residential streets and more time enjoying their journey. While some reviews mention "very narrow roads" within the park and challenging site entries, this is often a characteristic of parks with mature, shady trees, which many RVers appreciate for the natural cooling and aesthetic appeal. It's a trade-off that contributes to the "beautiful park with tons of shade" experience highlighted by guests.
Beyond the park's immediate vicinity, its Crystal River location provides excellent access to a wealth of activities and conveniences. Downtown Crystal River, with its charming shops, local eateries, and waterfront entertainment, is just a short drive away. Outdoor enthusiasts will find themselves in a prime spot for kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and boating on Kings Bay and the Crystal River. Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, another fantastic spot for observing Florida's native animals, is also nearby. For those interested in history, the Crystal River Archaeological State Park offers a glimpse into ancient Native American cultures. The accessibility to these diverse attractions, combined with the park's position in a natural setting, makes Sun Retreats Crystal River a convenient and appealing base for exploring the unique charms of this part of Florida.

Sun Retreats Crystal River Reviews
We stayed at this park on a cross-country RV trip. Excellent location for those looking to do a manatee excursion like we were, as it’s very close. Beautiful park with tons of shade. Very narrow roads though and many of the sites had us scratching our heads on how people manage to get an RV in there. Pool and bath houses are very well maintained. Wish we could have spent more time here. Very friendly folks.
Jun 18, 2025 · Lori BoswellWe spent 2 days there, but we booked for three nights. We left early because there is nothing to do at this park. You can ride your bike through the whole place in less than 30 minutes. The problem is we thought it was an RV resort, but it is a trailer park. Almost the entire occupancy are residents. They do a good job of keeping the grounds clean, but there are also numerous trailers and 5th wheels with trash all around them. They should be more up front on their web page and let people know it is a trailer park, not a resort.
Jun 27, 2025 · JohnWe enjoyed our 6 day stay at Sun Retreats Crystal River. We had site 73. It is very wooded and near the shower room. Showers are kept cool and each shower had its own toilet. WiFi was good and allowed us to watch TV on YouTube TV. Town and many restaurants are within 7 miles. Previous reviews complained about homeless issues and packages stolen but we saw none of that and ordered Amazon and the driver delivered it to our door. Gates were always shut. We hope to visit again.
