Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City Introduce
As a local Utahn, you know that the Salt Lake Valley is the hub for adventure, offering quick access to mountains, canyons, and city life. For RV enthusiasts, travelers, or local residents needing a convenient place for an extended stay, Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City (formerly known as Pony Express RV Park) in North Salt Lake stands out as a full-service RV park, campground, and resort-style accommodation. This destination provides an excellent blend of urban proximity and outdoor recreation opportunities, making it a perfect home base for exploring the Wasatch Front and beyond. Whether you're passing through on a cross-country journey, visiting Utah’s capital city, or needing a reliable, amenity-rich place to stay while enjoying our state's natural wonders, this resort is designed to enhance your experience.
The resort caters to a wide range of needs, from short-term campers to long-term monthly residents. It offers a variety of ways to stay, including spacious, fully-equipped RV sites and charming on-site lodging options like chalet rentals. The overall atmosphere strives for a resort-like quality, ensuring that amenities are clean, well-maintained, and plentiful, creating a welcoming and friendly environment often praised by guests. The staff are frequently noted for being helpful and friendly, which is essential when navigating the ins and outs of an active resort community.
However, potential guests should consider its unique location within the industrial area of North Salt Lake. While the resort itself is beautifully maintained—often surprising visitors with its lovely landscaping given the surroundings—it is situated near oil refineries and in the flight path of air traffic, leading to occasional noise from the freeway and nearby airport, and possible industrial odors. While the management cannot control these external factors, being aware of the environment allows guests to set realistic expectations for their stay. Despite this, the site’s proximity to major highways and downtown attractions remains one of its most valuable assets.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great and friendly people in the front. I love that you can’t get packages delivered and they have events. The main clubhouse has a nice community area, bathrooms, and pools. Service was great. The spots are a bit close but we had a premium spot with grass and could fit 2 vehicles. Great dog parks and a walking trail right there. Everyone is friendly and nice but some haul ass through the park and the gates never worked. Saw a few homeless/drugged out people walking around and trying to use the bathroom houses. It would be 5 stars but it is noisy because of the freeway and air traffic. It’s also stinky because of the oil refineries and industrial area. They can’t really control these things but it is what it is!Would definitely stay there and recommend to others!
June 12 · Sarah KinneyI would love to give more than 3 stars. The site is absolutely well maintained. Stalls are plenty wide and easy for pull throughs. The water and power connections are pretty cool too. No need for winter covers they are low to the ground and housed. Sewer access are spring loaded and keep your hose right in place. They have tons of amenities.. Giant chess, corn hole, clean restrooms and showers. The problem here is contacting this location itself. The time I did stay a night here it was because I just stopped by. I have attempted to call this location many times over the last year to inquire about monthly reservations. The larger company office, yeah they answer the phone. Unfortunately my experience is that the location has not returned my messages or answered the phone ever. Beautiful spot situated right near the airport, fairgrounds, just outside of down town in the industrial district but you would have no idea. Seriously the place is lovely, the communication fell so short.
June 17 · Devin KaradeemaWe came in late and our welcome packet was waiting for us. Our cabins were clean and comfortable and suited our needs. We were lacking in bedding for 2 beds in each cabin and did not have a bath towel for everyone. That was a little awkward, but we made it work since we weren't in the cabins very much during our stay. I can recommend Sun Outdoors if you have kids who need to get the wiggles out.
July 17 · Penny HoodVery clean park. Sites are close to each other, but nice grass and trees everywhere. There are 2 open dog parks, but only 1 is for dogs over 15 pounds. They have a dog bathing station, which is wonderful. There are plenty of bathrooms and nice amenities. The only real negative (which they can't help) is that it's right off the highway. So if you're a light sleeper, this could be problematic.
May 31 · Jennifer YThe cabin I rented for the night was so cute and cozy. The only down fall was it got a little warm and we couldnt turn the ac down past 73. But it was still a nice quite night.I didnt get the chance to check everything out but they had a map that showed everything. A community fire pit to dog parks and even a dog wash station. I will definitely be going back.
