This article will offer a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Summerwood Mobile Home Park, focusing on the details and nuances relevant to prospective residents from the Louisiana region.
Mobile home parks typically provide residents with a leased lot for their manufactured or mobile home, often including various services and amenities designed to enhance daily living. These communities can foster a unique sense of belonging and neighborly connection. Summerwood Mobile Home Park has recently undergone significant changes, with new management actively working to improve the park's conditions, addressing past "blatant neglect" and striving to make it a "livable, safe space again," as noted by residents. This ongoing revitalization is a key aspect for those considering Summerwood as their next home.

Summerwood Mobile Home Park, under its new management, is actively working to enhance the services and living environment for its residents. Based on recent information and common offerings in manufactured home communities, the following services are typically available or being improved:
- Lot Rental: Providing spaces for manufactured or mobile homes, generally including essential utility hook-ups.
- Grounds Maintenance: New management is actively "fixing the park" and making it a "well-kept" environment, indicating a commitment to maintaining clean and presentable common areas and individual lots (ensuring residents keep their areas tidy).
- Utility Inclusion (Partial): For some units, lot rent has historically included water, sewer, and garbage services. Prospective residents should confirm what utilities are covered in their specific lease agreement.
- Swimming Pool Access: At least some residents have confirmed that lot rent includes access to a community swimming pool, a valuable amenity for recreation and relaxation.
- On-site Management: The presence of "new management" actively working to improve the park signifies dedicated oversight and a point of contact for resident concerns.
It is crucial for potential residents to directly inquire about the current status of all included services, as changes in management often lead to adjustments in offerings and policies.
Summerwood Mobile Home Park has undergone significant transformations, with several features contributing to its current and evolving character.
- Strategic Location: Its prime location on Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette is a major highlight, offering exceptional convenience for shopping, dining, entertainment, and access to major employers and educational institutions.
- Active Management & Improvement Efforts: The most significant highlight is the "new management" actively "fixing the park and making it a livable, safe space again." This indicates a strong commitment to renovation and improving the quality of life for residents after a period of neglect.
- Swimming Pool: The inclusion of a community pool offers a recreational amenity that enhances the living experience, particularly in Louisiana's climate.
- Established Community: Having been "Built in 1970," Summerwood is an established park with a long history, as evidenced by a resident who lived there from 1975-1984. This can mean mature landscaping and a sense of permanence.
- Tenant-Owned Homes: The park reportedly has 85% occupancy with all but one home being tenant-owned, which often leads to a more stable and engaged resident base.
- Future Vacancy Infill: Plans to "infill the existing 36 vacant pads over the next year" suggest continued investment and growth in the community.
However, it's also important to acknowledge challenges mentioned in recent reviews. Concerns include significant and frequent "rent raising," noise issues "at all hours," and the financial burden placed on long-term residents for past neglect. These aspects highlight areas where residents feel the park could improve its approach to pricing and internal policies, particularly for loyal, long-term tenants and those on fixed incomes. The sentiment that "the market rate of both monthly rates here and buying a plot of land are equivalent after a down payment" suggests that the current rent increases are making the park less competitive for some residents.
For those interested in Summerwood Mobile Home Park, including current availability, specific lot details, rental rates, and community guidelines, direct contact with the park management is highly recommended.

However, it is crucial for prospective Louisiana residents to also consider the feedback regarding significant and frequent rent increases, as well as ongoing concerns about noise issues and the financial impact on long-term residents. Summerwood Mobile Home Park Reviews
June = rent is raising again by another 100 (excluding addons). This is absolutely asinine considering nothings actually been added yet? Are yall trying to force out retirees and vets or yall just dont understand the market? No releif for long time residents or fixed rates for people who have been here 10+ years? Not a good look. 😬Past review:New management has their act together, The only negative is that the rent increase not really worth it. I know it's because of the 100,000 dollars spent to fix previous management's blatant neglect, but rent at 450 + utilities and fees bringing it up to approx 500/month x 200 (which is lowballing the population here), just that's an annual income of 1 million. Given these numbers, this rent increase is insane for us - especially considering we will definitely have future increases as well once the park is well kept and renovated again. While I do respect everyone fixing the park, I feel it isn't being respected or acknowledged that there was a park to "save" because we the community have lived in squallor and neglect for so long only to be burdened with the financial brunt of decisions to finally use our rent for what we were giving it for. We shouldn't be burdened financially with this as we have BEEN paying and trying to get management to fix this place again. The older residents who haven't contributed to issues should have their rent set at a lower rate with utilities included and new people should get higher rates. Fines alone should take on the brunt of making those numbers feasible especially with the constant noise issues. I do hope management takes this to heart because what's stopping people from renting or just moving and purchasing land and spending that 500 on land payments at this point? Please consider the implications of these numbers for your establishment.Old review:They're fixing the park and making it a livable, safe space again. Minus one ☆ for the frequent noise issues (literally at all hours) and the big bumps in rent and utilities , but even with that, this place got *so* much better this past year. Thank you so much for taking care of the park!Proper management makes the drastic rent increase somewhat worth it, but the market rate of both monthly rates here and buying a plot of land are equivalent after a down payment.
