At first when I reached out about the rv listings I was extremely hopeful. Beautiful area? Awesome price? Rent to own? Wow too good to be true?? It certainly is. The owner/landlord or otherwise person you'd be renting from doesn't care do dispute the other reviews when asked about why they have multiple complaints about having your water or lights cut off. They say"It is probably in your best interest to find something better with more positive reviews. I am not sure what you expect from me. I have over 100 people interested and only 2 RVs to rent."Believe the reviews. Stay away. Save your money. Unless you want to be in the dark with no water or power, cause apparently they don't pay their bills, all while you're doing your part, but they won't do theirs. - Brandon

Somers Dream Rv Park Introduce

For North Carolina residents considering RV living, especially for longer durations or "rent-to-own" opportunities, finding a reliable and comfortable RV park is paramount. Waynesville, nestled in the scenic Western North Carolina mountains, offers appealing natural beauty and a quieter lifestyle. Somers Dream RV Park, located at 887 Jonathan Creek Rd, Waynesville, NC 28785, might appear enticing at first glance with promises of a beautiful area and attractive pricing. However, for those looking to establish a temporary or semi-permanent home, it’s crucial to delve beyond initial impressions and understand the realities of living in a community. This article aims to provide a factual and direct overview of Somers Dream RV Park, drawing heavily on recent public feedback, to help North Carolina locals make a truly informed decision about their next RV destination.

Somers Dream RV Park is situated at 887 Jonathan Creek Rd, Waynesville, NC 28785, USA. This location places it within the picturesque setting of Waynesville, a charming town in Haywood County, North Carolina. Waynesville is known for its proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a host of outdoor recreational opportunities. For North Carolina locals, particularly those from the Asheville area or other parts of Western NC, Waynesville is generally accessible via Interstate 40 or scenic state highways. Jonathan Creek Road itself suggests a more rural or semi-rural setting, often appealing to those seeking tranquility away from urban bustle. While the natural beauty of the surrounding area is generally undisputed, the direct accessibility to and from the park, along with its immediate surroundings, should be thoroughly investigated by prospective residents. The allure of the "beautiful area" is a common draw for Waynesville in general, and Somers Dream RV Park's address places it within this desirable region.

Understanding the services offered by an RV park is fundamental to evaluating its suitability. For Somers Dream RV Park, based on the provided customer reviews, a clear and consistent picture of reliable services does not emerge. Instead, the feedback highlights significant concerns regarding fundamental utilities and management conduct.

  • Utility Provision (Electricity and Water): Reviews strongly indicate severe issues with the consistent provision of essential utilities. Former residents report instances of "water or lights cut off," suggesting unreliable access to electricity and water, which are basic necessities for RV living. This implies that the park may not consistently ensure timely payment of its own utility bills, directly impacting residents who are doing their part.
  • Furnace/Heating Maintenance (for rentals/long-term stays): For those in rental RVs or mobile homes within the park, there's a serious complaint of a home going "without a furnace all winter" for an older couple. This points to a critical failure in providing adequate heating services, especially concerning for vulnerable residents.
  • Management Responsiveness and Communication: Customer feedback overwhelmingly points to a severe lack of responsiveness from the owner/landlord and managers. Attempts to contact them were allegedly ignored ("would not answer our calls," "didn't even look at our messages"). This absence of communication makes it difficult for residents to address critical issues or seek assistance.
  • Tenant-Management Relationship: Reviews describe a highly adversarial relationship with management, including being "yell at us every time we tried to come in there yard" and "yelled at us when we tried to improve home." This indicates a hostile environment that is not conducive to a peaceful living experience.
  • Mail Delivery (Unofficial): The mention of "only another renter tried to help everyone. And deliver mail" suggests a lack of official or reliable mail services provided by park management, with residents having to rely on informal community support.
  • "Rent-to-Own" Schemes: The park reportedly offers "rent-to-own" RV listings. While this can be an appealing service, the reviews raise strong warnings about its legitimacy and reliability given the other operational issues.

The features and highlights of Somers Dream RV Park, as gleaned from the provided customer reviews, unfortunately, emphasize concerning aspects rather than positive amenities. It's crucial for prospective residents in North Carolina to be aware of these reported characteristics before considering a stay.

  • Unreliable Utilities: A prominent feature highlighted by reviews is the reported unreliability of basic utilities, specifically "water or lights cut off." This implies that residents may frequently experience interruptions to essential services, a critical concern for any RV park.
  • Absentee or Unresponsive Management: The "owner is always absent" and managers "won't help" or "would not answer our calls" are consistent features of the park's operation, creating a challenging environment for residents needing assistance or resolutions to problems.
  • Hostile Living Environment: Reviews describe a confrontational atmosphere with management, including being "yelled at" for various reasons. This suggests a lack of professional conduct and a potentially stressful living situation.
  • Reported Safety and Peace Concerns: While not as explicitly detailed as the utility issues, the overall tone of reviews implies a lack of safety and peace, with strong warnings like "Not safe" if the park is a mobile home park associated with the same ownership issues as the RV rentals. Even for an RV park, utility cut-offs and hostile management contribute to an unsafe and unsettling environment.
  • Questionable "Rent-to-Own" Program: The existence of "rent-to-own" options is a feature, but it comes with a strong warning from a former prospective renter who found it "too good to be true" and advised to "Believe the reviews. Stay away. Save your money."
  • Potential for Community Division: One review specifically states that managers "help devide family's," indicating that the management's actions may negatively impact the community cohesion among residents.
  • Reliance on Other Renters for Support: The fact that "only another renter tried to help everyone. And deliver mail" suggests a lack of official park support services, leaving residents to rely on each other for basic needs, which is an unusual and concerning feature for a commercial RV park.

It is highly recommended that any North Carolina local considering this RV park attempts to contact them directly and also conducts a thorough in-person visit. Given the severe nature of the public reviews, prospective residents should be prepared to ask very specific questions regarding utility reliability, management availability, and tenant support, and seek direct, verifiable answers.

For North Carolina locals seeking an RV park, Somers Dream RV Park, based on available public reviews, presents significant drawbacks that make it largely unsuitable for those prioritizing reliability, comfort, and a peaceful living environment. While the geographical location in Waynesville is undeniably appealing for its natural beauty and access to the Western NC mountains, the reported operational issues severely undermine any potential benefits. For North Carolinians looking for a place to truly relax or establish a temporary home, the recurring complaints about utility cut-offs (water and electricity) are critical. Consistent access to these basic services is non-negotiable for comfortable RV living, and the reported unreliability suggests a significant risk. Furthermore, the numerous accounts of unresponsive and allegedly hostile management are a major red flag. A respectful and helpful management team is crucial for addressing concerns and fostering a positive community. The warnings about the "rent-to-own" program also caution against what might seem like an attractive financial offer. Ultimately, while the "beautiful area" of Waynesville holds appeal, the documented challenges at Somers Dream RV Park suggest that North Carolina locals seeking a stable, safe, and stress-free RV experience would be well-advised to "Believe the reviews" and "Stay away." There are many other reputable RV parks across North Carolina that offer a more reliable and welcoming experience. It's vital for locals to thoroughly research and visit any potential park to ensure it meets their expectations for a safe and functional temporary home.
