Are you an Illinois resident navigating the housing market in Springfield, seeking an affordable and community-oriented living solution? The quest for accessible housing is a common challenge in many cities, and Springfield, the capital of Illinois, is no exception. Scottsdale Mobile Home Park in Springfield, Illinois, presents itself as an option for individuals and families looking for a more budget-friendly pathway to homeownership or stable long-term rental within the urban environment. For many Illinoisans, mobile home parks offer a vital alternative to traditional housing, blending community living with greater affordability compared to conventional homes or apartments.
In Springfield, while housing costs may be more approachable than in larger metropolitan areas like Chicago, finding housing that aligns with various budgets can still be a concern. Manufactured housing communities, often referred to as mobile home parks, can fill this gap by providing a unique housing model. They offer the opportunity to live in a standalone home while potentially reducing the financial burden associated with property taxes and high purchase prices of traditional houses. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Scottsdale Mobile Home Park, exploring its location, the services and features it strives to provide, and crucial considerations for local users, drawing upon available public data and resident feedback to offer a comprehensive picture of what to expect.
Scottsdale Mobile Home Park is established as a residential community in Springfield, Illinois, specifically designed to offer manufactured housing options. The fundamental concept behind a mobile home park is to provide individual lots where residents can place their manufactured homes, typically under a lease agreement for the land. This model is often favored by those seeking a more accessible entry point into homeownership or a stable long-term rental arrangement compared to the traditional real estate market.
The goal of communities like Scottsdale is to foster a neighborhood atmosphere where residents can enjoy the benefits of a detached home. Manufactured homes themselves have evolved over the years, now offering a variety of modern designs, various floor plans, and amenities that can rival those found in site-built homes. The park's management is generally responsible for maintaining common areas, infrastructure, and upholding community rules. While the ideal experience in such a community involves reliable services, well-maintained shared spaces, and responsive management, it is crucial for prospective residents to consider feedback from current and past residents to gain a complete understanding of the living environment. This article will detail the intended offerings of Scottsdale Mobile Home Park, alongside important insights from resident experiences.

The park's location on Forrest Avenue provides a residential setting that maintains good connectivity to Springfield's major transportation routes. Key thoroughfares such as Interstate 55 and Interstate 72 are generally accessible, facilitating commutes to various parts of Springfield and other surrounding areas in Central Illinois. This ease of access to major roads is a significant advantage for residents who commute for work or wish to explore other parts of the state. While the immediate vicinity may be considered car-dependent by some metrics, public transit options are often available within the broader Springfield area, providing alternatives for mobility.
In terms of local amenities, residents of Scottsdale Mobile Home Park are likely to find a range of essential services within a short drive. This includes grocery stores, a variety of dining establishments, healthcare providers, and retail shopping centers. Springfield is also home to numerous parks, recreational facilities, and significant historical sites, such as the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, offering ample opportunities for leisure and learning. Mobile home parks typically provide a foundational set of services related to lot leasing and community upkeep. For Scottsdale Mobile Home Park, based on general expectations for manufactured home communities, these services would ideally include:
- Lot Leases: Residents typically own their manufactured homes but lease the individual plot of land from the park. This lease generally includes connections for essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity, for which residents are usually billed separately.
- Community Management: A management team or property office is generally responsible for overseeing daily operations, enforcing community rules, maintaining common areas, and addressing resident inquiries.
- Maintenance of Common Areas: Upkeep of shared spaces like roads, lighting, and any communal facilities within the park.
- Trash Services: Provision of designated areas or collection services for waste disposal.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: Many mobile home parks accommodate pets, with specific rules and sometimes additional fees for pet owners.
- Parking: Designated parking spaces at individual lots for residents and potentially guest parking areas.
However, it is critically important to note that customer reviews indicate significant issues regarding the consistent and professional delivery of these services. Residents have reported challenges with communication from management, concerns about property maintenance, and issues related to lease terms and deposits.
Scottsdale Mobile Home Park's intended features focus on providing an accessible and community-oriented living experience. Based on common attributes of mobile home communities, these highlights would typically include:
- Affordable Housing Option: A primary advantage is offering a potentially more budget-friendly path to homeownership or stable long-term housing in Springfield compared to traditional real estate.
- Individual Home Sites: Residents benefit from living in a detached home on its own lot, providing more privacy than apartment complexes.
- Access to Springfield Amenities: The park's urban location ensures convenient access to Springfield's employment opportunities, shopping, dining, and public services.
- Community Environment: The structure of a mobile home park is designed to foster a sense of neighborhood and community among residents.
- Potential for Customization: Residents who own their manufactured homes often have the ability to personalize and improve their living spaces.
However, prospective residents must be fully aware of the serious concerns highlighted in customer reviews, which significantly impact the actual living experience and contradict the ideal features:
- High Non-Refundable Deposit: Reviewers note an "extremely high" non-refundable deposit.
- Communication and Responsiveness Issues: Significant complaints about management not returning calls, not confirming receipt of payments, and lack of transparency regarding property changes (e.g., sale of property).
- Lack of Transparency and Information: Residents report not being informed directly about critical changes, such as property sales or management changes.
- Perceived "Scam Artist" Behavior: Serious accusations of unprofessional conduct, including changing locks on mailboxes and redirecting payments without proper notification.
- Unresolved Problems: Residents indicate that issues and problems brought to management are not addressed or fixed.
- Parking and Fining Issues: Difficulty obtaining necessary parking stickers leading to cars being towed, despite paying fees.

For Illinoisans seeking an affordable housing solution within Springfield, Scottsdale Mobile Home Park could be considered an option for its core offering: a more accessible entry into homeownership or stable long-term residency in the state capital. In an era where housing affordability is a persistent concern, manufactured housing communities like Scottsdale theoretically provide a valuable alternative. For residents of Illinois, particularly those looking to establish a home in a central urban area like Springfield, the concept of a standalone dwelling at a potentially lower cost than a traditional house is inherently appealing.
The park's location in Springfield offers practical benefits, providing residents with access to the city's diverse job market, educational institutions, and a wide array of amenities, including shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. Its connectivity to major interstate highways facilitates commutes and travel across Central Illinois, a significant advantage for those working or having family throughout the region. This urban integration means residents can participate fully in Springfield's dynamic environment, while potentially managing their housing costs more effectively.
However, it is paramount for any local Illinoisan considering Scottsdale Mobile Home Park to approach with caution and undertake thorough due diligence. The concerns raised in recent customer reviews regarding management responsiveness, perceived lack of transparency, issues with deposits and communication, and the overall living environment are significant and should not be overlooked. While the fundamental promise of affordable housing in Springfield is compelling, the actual suitability for a local seeking a reliable and well-managed community will heavily depend on current conditions and transparent communication from the park's management. Prospective residents are strongly advised to visit the property, speak with current residents where possible, and obtain all terms and conditions in writing to ensure their expectations for a community-focused and well-supported living experience are met.

Scottsdale Reviews
I wish I could give them an even lower score. They have 150 non-refundable deposit which is extremely high. We paid it because we need a place that was closer to my husband work.We got approval to move in. This is where to problem began. We had housing help for moving in cost. I called almost every day but they said they never received it. At some point they stopped calling me back.Through the grape vine I was told they sold the property, which was never conveyed to me. They had other property but never tried to get us in one instead. Even after they said they would at showing time.If it wasn't for the 3rd party we would have never known. When asked about the deposit there was never a reply. If you want to waste money then they are perfect to go to. If you want to never hear back from your landlord with problems you have this would also be a fit.
Feb 19, 2025 · Elizabeth BryantTruly scam artist how they change residence locks in mail boxes then send a notice stating they are changing management and payments to be sent somewhere else. And I don’t find out till after I made a payment? Says they were sending out mail and hand delivered these but that’s a lie they never answered the phones they never fixed things unprofessional unfit landlords
Feb 04, 2025 · Mindy conkriteI do not know where to begin. This company is extremely unprofessional. They don’t have any coordination or communication with their own team members or any residents. They have refused to issue my security deposit check when all of the necessary actions were taken on my end. They knew the date I was moving in, the date I was moving out, and everything in between. For starters, they are beyond difficult to get ahold of. The rental unit was not clean when we moved in, broken refrigerator, nonfunctional smoke detectors, the list goes on. The biggest complaint circles back to the security deposit not being refunded. I had the date I was moving out in writing. It was communicated thoroughly on my end. They claim that they need an address to send the check, which has been given to them more than three times. I would be told, “I need to make a phone call, and I will follow up with you.” They don’t make a phone call to anyone, nor do they make any effort to follow up with you. The male with his hat backwards has absolutely no information to share. He doesn’t know anything. Tried playing the card “It can take up to 30 days to receive your check” when I was calling on the 29th day. Here we are going over the 45th day and still no check. No wonder this company has already has lawsuits in previous years. I don’t write reviews, at least in a negative light of anyone. However, this company needs to be in a spotlight. They need to be exposed for the cruel tactics they try to do, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has fallen victim to them. All I want is what rightfully belongs to me. If I got my check, there wouldn’t even be a review. They have put me on hold and hung up multiple times. I wait patiently for the first month. I do not recommend even contacting these people. Sorry for the long message, however, it needed to be said. Hope this finds the necessary people well.
Jul 24, 2024 · YoBoy HoudiniI've been here for 18 months now and the property Mgr is the best I've ever seen for the problems that they have to go through. Owners really need ta listen too them when they want to get it done. I would love ta show them from a tenant side of there flaws that makes it hard ta sell or even rent them.. but I don't think they are big enough to do it!! Far as the community it self everywhere has it's own ups and downs. But you can only improve if you listen to the people who are there too help you improve the quality of their products. It's a proven fact of business. Improve the community and that adjustment is worth it increasingly helps sales and more people who are looking
Feb 15, 2024 · Clifton FogersonI’ve lived in the TimeOut Community for 3 years. I have had the blessing of being acclimated with true down to earth people who are of this company that go above and beyond for real life people like myself. Taylor the property manager is an incredible person with a heart of gold. The head maintenance man Chris is prompt and always doing a fantastic job. Caitlin from South Carolina is a true down and out person and employee. I’m proud to say I’m part of the time out community!
