Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park

Disappointed with Water Situation and Lack of CommunicationWe stayed at the Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park and were very disappointed. Their website and brochure clearly state that water and electric are available at each site—but when we arrived, the water wasn’t turned on at our site or at the dump station. We were never informed of this during our phone reservation or when we checked in at the hotel. When we brought it up, we were told we could “probably” hook our camper back up and drive over to the casino area to get water—which is a big inconvenience, especially when you’re set up and planning to stay for a couple of days. Staff didn’t seem very sympathetic or concerned, which made the experience even more frustrating.I asked if there were any showers we could use since we had no water access, and they said they’re working on adding showers to the pool area. That might be nice someday, but it didn’t help us at all during our stay. They also advertise a 24/7 shuttle to the casino, but in the morning we had to ride one at a time in a one-passenger, casino-owned mini truck—not what we expected. The gravel sites are level and it’s a decent spot if you’re just going to the casino, but sadly, we ended up cutting our trip short—despite being there to celebrate with friends—because of the water issue. The lack of communication and empathy from staff really left a bad impression. - Nancy Mutschler

Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For Michigan RV enthusiasts looking for a convenient and accessible spot in the Standish area, Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park presents a unique option. This RV park is directly associated with the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino, offering a distinct blend of outdoor camping with the excitement and amenities of a casino resort. It positions itself as a practical choice for those who enjoy gaming, dining, and entertainment, while still preferring the comfort and flexibility of their own RV.

Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park aims to provide a straightforward and well-equipped stay for its guests. The park advertises sites with water and electric hookups, and features like level gravel sites and picnic tables are generally appreciated by campers. It is also promoted as being "open all year," which is a significant advantage for Michigan campers who wish to extend their RV season beyond the warmer months. The direct connection to the casino is a primary draw, allowing guests to "go into the casino for slots and food" with ease, facilitated by a promised 24/7 shuttle service.

However, it is crucial to present a balanced view, as some past experiences highlight areas for improvement. One reviewer expressed significant disappointment regarding a "water situation and lack of communication," where water was unexpectedly unavailable at their site and the dump station upon arrival, despite being advertised. This guest also noted that staff "didn’t seem very sympathetic or concerned" and that the advertised 24/7 shuttle sometimes operated as a "one-passenger, casino-owned mini truck," leading to inconvenience. The absence of readily available showers was also a point of frustration, with future additions only being "nice someday, but it didn’t help us at all during our stay." These experiences led to a shortened trip for some. Despite these specific challenges, another reviewer praises it as their "go-to campground, when in the Standish area," suggesting that for many, the benefits, particularly the proximity to the casino, outweigh potential inconveniences. This RV park serves a specific niche, appealing to those prioritizing casino access and a convenient stopover.

Location and Accessibility

Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park is strategically located at 5447 Sturman Rd, Standish, MI 48658, USA. This address places it in the southern part of Michigan's "Thumb" region, specifically in Arenac County, known for its proximity to Saginaw Bay and easy access to major transportation routes.

The park's primary locational advantage is its direct adjacency to the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino. It is described as being "located just across the street from the casino!" This means that for RVers whose main purpose is to visit the casino, the convenience is unparalleled. Guests can easily walk to the casino, or take advantage of the advertised 24/7 shuttle service (though past experiences suggest confirming the nature of the shuttle in advance). This immediate access to gaming, dining, and entertainment options within the casino is a significant draw for many Michigan visitors.

In terms of broader accessibility, Standish is situated near the intersection of US-23 and I-75, two major highways in Michigan. This makes the RV park relatively easy to reach from various parts of the state. US-23 offers a scenic route along the Lake Huron shoreline, while I-75 provides a direct north-south artery connecting to larger population centers like Bay City, Saginaw, and ultimately Detroit to the south, and Northern Michigan destinations to the north. While the specific road leading to the park, Sturman Road, is described as a "narrow road" for the "last 2 miles," RVers generally manage the approach.

Beyond the casino, the Standish area and Arenac County offer some local attractions. Standish is the southern gateway to the US-23 Huron Shores Heritage Route, a scenic tour along Lake Huron. Nearby attractions include the Standish Historical Depot and Welcome Center, local golf courses, and various nature preserves and public access points to the Rifle River and Saginaw Bay for outdoor activities like fishing, canoeing, and birdwatching. While the RV park's immediate focus is on the casino, its location provides a base for exploring a segment of Michigan's "Sunrise Side."

Features / Highlights

Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park, despite some reported challenges, offers several key features and highlights that make it a distinct option for RVers in Michigan, especially those drawn to the adjacent casino experience.

  • Direct Casino Access: The most prominent highlight is its immediate proximity and connection to the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino. This allows RV guests to easily access gaming, multiple dining options (Landing Restaurant, Aerie Cafe), and the Creekside Lounge without needing to drive off-site.
  • Convenient Shuttle Service: An advertised 24/7 free shuttle service between the RV park and the casino is a major convenience, particularly for those who prefer not to drive their RV or personal vehicle.
  • Year-Round Operation: Being "open all year" is a significant advantage, particularly for Michiganders who enjoy RVing in all seasons or are looking for a reliable, heated place to stay during colder months when many other campgrounds are closed.
  • Level Gravel Sites with Hookups: The park offers "level" gravel sites that are typically 30'x60' or 40'x60' in size, equipped with 20/30/50 amp electric and water hookups. This provides a solid and stable base for various RV types.
  • Access to Hotel Amenities: RV guests can utilize the indoor pool area and hot tub at the Saganing Eagles Landing Hotel, adding a significant recreational amenity that might not be available at other RV parks. Future plans for showers at the pool area would further enhance this.
  • Clubhouse & Pavilion: The presence of a clubhouse with a full kitchen, big screen TV, and laundry facilities, along with an outdoor pavilion for events, provides communal spaces for relaxation and social interaction among campers.
  • EV Charging Stations: The availability of free Level 2 EV charging stations within the park is a modern and beneficial feature for electric vehicle owners.
  • Affordable Nightly Rates: The advertised rate of $25 per night (plus tax) makes it a relatively inexpensive option, especially considering the full hookups and casino access.

It is important to note the reported past challenges, such as unexpected water outages at sites and the dump station, and the perceived lack of staff empathy, which can impact the overall experience for some guests. Prospective visitors should verify current operational statuses of services upon booking and arrival.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the available public information, Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park does not frequently advertise complex, short-term promotional offers in the typical sense of discounts on stays. However, its primary "special offer" is inherently tied to its relationship with the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino and its straightforward pricing structure.

Key aspects that serve as promotions or value propositions include:

  • Affordable Nightly Rate: The park generally offers a competitive nightly rate of $25 per night plus tax for full hookup sites. This consistent, low price point can be seen as an ongoing "offer" for budget-conscious RVers.
  • Access Club Points: Guests can earn "Access Points" as part of the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino's loyalty program. Staying at the RV park earns 10 points for every $1 spent on site rentals (cash or credit). These points can then be redeemed for premium play at the casino or used for dining, spa services, or gift shop purchases. This essentially provides a rebate or added value for your stay if you plan to utilize the casino's offerings.
  • Complimentary Casino Shuttle: The 24/7 free shuttle service to and from the casino is a significant convenience that effectively adds value to your stay by eliminating transportation concerns.
  • Access to Hotel Pool: While not a direct monetary discount, the complimentary access to the indoor pool area and hot tub at the adjacent hotel enhances the recreational value of the RV park stay.

It is important for prospective guests to contact the RV park directly for the most current information on rates, policies, and any specific seasonal offers that might not be widely advertised. Guests should also inquire about the current status of all amenities, particularly regarding water availability at sites and the type of shuttle service, to manage expectations effectively. The reservation line (888-732-4537 or 989-775-5955) or emailing RVPark@Sagchip.org would be the best ways to get the most accurate and up-to-date information before planning your trip.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Michigan residents seeking an RV camping experience that combines a peaceful outdoor setting with the excitement of casino entertainment, Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park in Standish offers a distinct and suitable option. It caters specifically to locals who appreciate convenience, affordability, and the added thrill of casino access.

One of the primary reasons for its suitability for Michiganders is its strategic location. Positioned directly adjacent to the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino, it provides unparalleled convenience for those who enjoy gaming, live entertainment, and diverse dining options. The advertised 24/7 free shuttle service to the casino makes it incredibly easy to transition from the quiet of your RV site to the vibrant casino floor without the hassle of driving or parking. This makes it an ideal spot for a weekend getaway or a short break where the main agenda is leisure and entertainment.

Furthermore, the park’s operational characteristics cater to a practical approach to RVing. With "level gravel sites" equipped with 20/30/50 amp electric and water hookups, it offers essential comforts for modern RVs. The availability of free Wi-Fi and the option for year-round stays (with water available from April 1st to October 31st) are significant advantages for Michigan residents, allowing for flexibility in their travel plans, regardless of the season. The access to the hotel's indoor pool and hot tub, along with the clubhouse facilities including a full kitchen and laundry, adds amenities that enhance the overall value of the stay.

While a past reviewer noted challenges with water access and shuttle service, these are important points to confirm directly with management. However, for many Michigan locals, the park's low nightly rate of $25 and the ability to earn Access Club points for casino play make it an attractive and budget-friendly choice. It’s particularly well-suited for those looking for a no-frills, practical RV stopover that is directly linked to casino entertainment, rather than a secluded, wilderness camping experience. For Michigan RVers who appreciate the convenience of having slots and food just steps away from their camper, Saganing Eagles Landing RV Park presents a compelling and unique option in the Standish area.
