Whether you're a seasoned RVer or new to the lifestyle, finding the right spot is crucial. Oak Park Resort aims to provide a straightforward and practical environment for its guests. While it might not boast all the bells and whistles of a full-service resort, its focus on essential amenities and a serene atmosphere makes it a compelling option for many. It's particularly well-suited for those who prioritize a quiet setting, direct lake access, and a no-frills approach to RV living.
Oak Park Resort is strategically located at 228 Ledford Farm Rd, Fair Play, SC 29643, USA. Fair Play itself is a small, charming community that offers a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of larger cities, yet remains easily accessible.
The park's location provides excellent access to major roadways, making it convenient for RVers traveling from various parts of South Carolina or neighboring states. Its proximity to Lake Hartwell is a significant draw, offering easy access for boating, fishing, and other water-based activities. While the park is set in a more rural area, essential services and local attractions are within a reasonable driving distance, ensuring you have what you need for a comfortable stay without sacrificing the peaceful environment.
Oak Park Resort provides a set of core services designed to cater to the fundamental needs of RVers. While the emphasis is on a more rustic and self-sufficient experience, the park ensures that essential utilities are available for a comfortable stay. Here are the key services you can expect:
- Water Hookups: Guests have access to water connections at their sites. It's worth noting, based on customer feedback, that some visitors have expressed concerns about the drinking water quality, so it's advisable to come prepared with your own filtered water if this is a concern for you and your pets.
- Electrical Hookups: Standard electrical hookups are available for RVs, ensuring you can power your appliances and keep your vehicle charged.
- Docks and Boat Slips: A significant advantage of Oak Park Resort is its direct access to boat slips and docks. This is particularly appealing for those who enjoy fishing or other water activities on Lake Hartwell, as it allows for convenient launching and mooring of boats directly from the park.
- Long-Term Stays: The resort appears to be well-suited for longer-term stays, with some customers having resided there for several weeks or even months. This makes it an ideal option for individuals working in the area or those looking for an extended base to explore the region at a leisurely pace.
Oak Park Resort distinguishes itself with several features that contribute to its unique appeal, especially for those seeking a specific type of RV experience. While some aspects might be considered rustic, others are definite draws for visitors:

- Scenic Views: The park offers pleasant views, likely due to its natural surroundings and proximity to the lake. This contributes to the overall calming atmosphere and provides a picturesque backdrop for your stay.
- Direct Lake Access: A major highlight is the easy and direct access to Lake Hartwell via on-site boat slips. For fishing enthusiasts or anyone wanting to enjoy the lake, this feature is incredibly convenient and a significant benefit.
- On-site Management Support: Lynn, who manages the office and other operations, is frequently praised by customers for her exceptional helpfulness and responsiveness. This strong on-site support can make a significant difference in the guest experience, providing a reliable point of contact for any needs or issues.
- Ongoing Landscape Upgrades: The owner is reportedly committed to improving the landscape and lots, indicating a continuous effort to enhance the park's appearance and functionality. This dedication to upgrades suggests a positive outlook for the future development of the resort.
- Suitable for Work-Related Stays: Due to its more functional and less "resort-like" atmosphere, coupled with the potential for long-term stays, Oak Park Resort is often noted as a suitable option for individuals who are in the area for work.
It is important for prospective visitors to note a few other characteristics based on customer feedback: the park has a gravel surface, which can make leveling an RV challenging for some; it is very dark at night with limited security lighting; and internet and TV services are not provided, meaning guests need to arrange their own. The lots can also be close together.

Oak Park Resort Reviews
This was the first place we parked our RV when we bought it in September. I loved the views and the peace and quiet. There were no amenities other than the water and docks, but while we were there, you didn't really have use of the lake bc it was extremely low. This wasn't their fault. It is hard to keep your RV level bc it is nothing but gravel. Totally pitch black at night. I asked about security lights and the owner, JR said he likes it dark. The drinking water is so bad. We didn't even give it to our fur baby! The driveways in the upper part are so small you can not see them at night. I helped someone get their 5th wheel out of the ditch bc they are so bad. And it was daylight. The lots are right on top of each other. Personally, it is good for people who are there for work. It doesn't have the camping feel to it. You have to have your own internet and TV. Lynn, that runs the office, and everything else is awesome. Very helpful and always hel. We stayed from September to December, and I talked to JR two times. Once, he was on a golf cart with a beer in his hand and a cooler at his feet. Along with a couple that he was giving a tour. His dogs always run wild and I myself have never seen him clean up behind him. The other was when I asked about the lights and if we could get a picnic table. That's when he said he likes it dark. Then I asked him if he had a picnic table, and he said he would bring it back. Never got it, and when he was on the golf cart with the couple, he was showing them the lot beside me. I asked about the table, and he had no clue what I was talking about. However, I'm not saying we won't ever stay there again if needed. As long as Lynn is still there. We know she will handle everything, and we don't have to worry about dealing with the owner. Again, this is our personal opinion. Not bc he did anything to us.
Feb 25, 2023 · Karen HerringtonI have stayed with oak park resort for 3 weeks, twice a year for the past 3.5 year. I like the easy access boat slip on site. I fish most of the time I'm here 🤣. The owner is always doing upgrades to the landscape and lots . Looking forward to my next fishing trip.
Nov 30, 2021 · Michael CollinsBeautiful spot. A little noisy but quite pleasant. We had trouble with the lock on our travel trailer. The owner and his hired man spent over an hour helping us dismantle the lock so we could gain access other than through the emergency window. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Greatly appreciated their help!!!
Mar 05, 2024 · Robert HartI love it here.. you can stay permanently or you can come up for the weekends right near the lake can go swimming beautiful nature landscape quiet... The gentleman that owns this place is very nice and respectful and helpful if you need it.. I am glad I moved here.
Jun 17, 2024 · Darcey Henderson twiggTo use the word "resort" to describe this "campground" is an absolute fabrication. For starters, the website is extremely vague and I believe that's the intention of the owner, to avoid accountability. There is no cancelation policy listed. There are a few decent spots beside the lake which are the photos he uses on his website and charges $800 a month for. The other spots, he refers to as "lakeVIEW" spots, are way back away from the water, literally on a barren gravel lot. No trees, no picnic tables, no amenities of any kind, right beside the main road with no fence.. no privacy. These are $650 a month plus electric. He asks for an "electric" deposit up front, in the amount of $250, which I paid by card over the phone. Upon arriving there, we saw that the bad reviews were absolutely true and that the photos were misleading. My husband travels for his work and I come with him. We've been a lot of places but this was somewhere I just could not stay for 3 months. We tried calling the owner to speak to him and tell him we were not satisfied but got a voice-mail. We waited for 30 minutes and decided to just find another campground. Thankfully we found a spot at a real campground that has been absolutely fabulous. As with another poster, the lady in the office called me and said she would refund our money. After waiting several days for the refund, I spoke to her again and she said the owner will not refund our money. Again, the deposit we paid was for ELECTRIC... which we never used. After speaking with a few of the people at our current campground, we now know he does this to a lot of people. If you are looking for a campground in this area, please do not go by the pictures alone for this one. They are deceiving and very misleading. If you only need a place to sleep it would probably be OK. I'm a huge supporter of small businesses but I don't support people who have to be dishonest and scam people out of their money.I would not ever recommend this place to anyone.
