Its focus on providing a peaceful setting, especially during the week, combined with the convenience of amenities, makes it a hidden gem. Kings Park is conveniently situated at 5 Kings Park Ln, Bassett, VA 24055, USA. Bassett is a community nestled in Henry County, in the foothills of Virginia, offering a blend of peaceful rural charm and proximity to outdoor recreational opportunities.
For Virginia locals, the park's location offers a significant advantage, particularly its "walking distance to the trail leading to Philpott Dam." Philpott Dam and Lake are renowned for their natural beauty and extensive recreational activities, including fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, and picnicking. Being able to access such a significant natural landmark directly from the RV park is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts. While the park itself is tranquil, its closeness to a "heavily used park" (likely referring to parts of the Philpott Lake recreational area) means that on weekends, there might be "some noise," but as one reviewer cheerfully notes, it's "good fun noise." This indicates a lively, family-friendly atmosphere that blends well with the park's overall peaceful vibe. The Bassett area also provides access to local conveniences, making it easy to restock supplies or explore charming small-town offerings. Its position allows for relatively easy travel from various parts of Virginia, making it an ideal weekend getaway or a pleasant base for longer explorations of Southwest Virginia.
Kings Park focuses on providing essential services to ensure a practical and comfortable RV experience. Based on customer reviews and the nature of a smaller, non-resort park, the services offered likely include:
- RV Parking Sites: The core service, providing dedicated spaces for RVs. While described as a "small park," this implies a focused and manageable number of sites.
- Full Hookups (Likely): Most RV parks offer full hookups including water, electricity (likely 30 and/or 50 amp), and sewer connections at each site for convenience. While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, it's a standard expectation for a functional RV park.
- Long-Term Stays: A significant service highlight is that the owner "does take long term if he has a spot open." This makes it an excellent option for those needing an extended stay for work, temporary relocation, or simply a prolonged vacation.
- Quiet Environment (Weekdays): The park offers a "peaceful" atmosphere during the week, catering to those seeking tranquility.
- Pet-Friendly: One review mentioned "Pet friendly too!" for a different park with similar services, which is a common amenity in RV parks and highly valued by pet owners. While not explicitly stated for Kings Park in the provided review, it's a strong possibility given the friendly nature described.
- Owner Interaction: The "owner is super nice and doesn't pester at all," indicating friendly, hands-off, yet available management.
Kings Park may not be a large resort, but its unique features and highlights create a highly appealing experience for its visitors:
- Walking Distance to Philpott Dam Trail: This is a major highlight, offering direct and easy access to a significant natural and recreational area without needing to drive. This proximity to outdoor adventure is a huge plus for campers.
- Peaceful Weekday Atmosphere: The park provides a serene environment during the week, ideal for those seeking a quiet escape, reading, or simply enjoying nature undisturbed.
- Friendly and Non-Intrusive Owner: The "super nice" owner who "doesn't pester at all" contributes significantly to a relaxed and comfortable stay, fostering a sense of trust and ease for guests.
- Flexibility for Long-Term Guests: The willingness to accommodate long-term stays (when spots are available) makes it a valuable resource for various types of RVers, from those on extended work assignments to individuals seeking a temporary home.
- "Good Fun Noise" on Weekends: The acknowledgment of potential weekend noise due to proximity to a popular park, framed positively as "good fun noise," suggests a lively, community-oriented vibe where the sounds of people enjoying themselves are part of the experience.
- "Small Park but Perfect": This encapsulates the park's charm – it's intimate and manageable, allowing for a more personal experience compared to larger, more crowded resorts. Its perfection lies in its simplicity and functionality.

Kings Park Reviews
Perfect place to park within walking distance to the trail leading to Philpot Damn. It's peaceful during the week. It is close to a heavily used park, so on weekends there might be some noise but it's good fun noise in my opinion. The owner is super nice and doesn't pester at all. BTW, he does take long term if he has a spot open. It's a small park but perfect in many ways. It's not a resort.
