Jackson's Hideaway RV Park

121 Vía De Coyote, Ocotillo, CA 92259, USA

4.0
I parked my toy box trailer at Jacksons Hideaway for almost 20 years and enjoyed every bit of it. While I no longer have my trailer and toys, I still enjoy visiting the Jackson's and Ocotillo. Harlene and Bill (her son) are like family and they treat their residents that way. Bill manages the park and is a stickler for maintenance, cleanliness and following health and safety requirements. He is constantly looking for ways to improve the RV park. You won't find more generous people than the Jackson's.The park has an amazing location. There are plenty of places to walk your dog or take a hike. You won't find better weather anywhere from Halloween through about Memorial Day. If you have an off-road vehicle, you can ride to your heart's content on BLM property, just a couple blocks west. The gorgeous Anza Borrego state park is a short drive away on the "S2 Highway."Jacksons Hideaway has a huge porch with swings and chairs to hang out on and relax. There's a rec room with an ice machine (free), TV, satellite and quite a few books and DVDs that have been collected over the years. Those are all free for residents to use. They have washer and dryer's and a full-size shower and bathroom available for residents and overnighters. If you plan on bringing your trailer or motorhome out here, every space has full hook ups with a concrete pad, 50 & 30 amp hook ups, Water, and septic.Staying at "the Hideaway" is one of the best deals in the valley. You can either rent one of their nicely maintained, fully outfitted trailers, or bring your own. The pricing on the trailer varies by size. There is a fixed rent for RVs/trailers that need a space. No uplift is charged on the electricity and the rates are less than half of San Diego's electrical rates. I found that it was less expensive to keep my trailer out there on a regular basis them to pay for gas to haul it back and forth to San Diego. The park is just outside of the small town of Ocotillo, but has very easy access off of interstate 8. Just make sure to take the Frontage road (Evan Hewes Highway) as Google and some other mapping programs might send you down a dirt road, where you could get stuck.Ocotillo has recently seen a small burst of business creation. There are at least two places where you can rent off-road vehicles or go on off-road tours. There is a new full service bar that also serves pizza and other food called the "The Great Escape." There is also the "Red Feather" mini market and a café. Breakfast and lunch is served most days. The food is very good. And, of course, the legendary "Lazy Lizard" bar. On the other side of the freeway is a remodeled Chevron gas station that has a well stocked mini market and plenty of clean bathrooms. If you need something for the soul, there are services every Sunday at the "Ocotillo Bible church."If you need a place for your RV/trailer overnight, for a week, a month or longer, I think you will find out what I did, that Jacksons Hideaway if a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the desert. 👍 - Steve

Jackson's Hideaway RV Park Introduce

For those in California seeking an authentic desert experience, a base for exhilarating off-road adventures, or simply a peaceful, long-term retreat from the urban sprawl, Jackson's Hideaway RV Park in Ocotillo, CA, offers a unique and welcoming destination. More than just a place to park your recreational vehicle, this park has cultivated a reputation as a true "hideaway"—a place where visitors and residents are treated like family, and the spirit of the desert is embraced. Understanding the appeal of an RV park like Jackson's Hideaway goes beyond just its amenities; it’s about the lifestyle it supports, the community it fosters, and its advantageous location for exploring a less-traveled, yet incredibly vibrant, part of Southern California.

Jackson's Hideaway RV Park is a prime example of a well-run, owner-managed establishment that prioritizes the comfort and satisfaction of its guests. In a state as vast and diverse as California, finding an RV park that offers both convenience and a genuine sense of belonging can be a treasure. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Jackson's Hideaway, from its strategic location in the Ocotillo desert to the comprehensive services and unique features that make it stand out. Whether you're planning an overnight stop, a seasonal stay to escape colder climates, or a permanent relocation for your RV, this "hideaway" promises a memorable experience that many visitors have cherished for years. We invite you to explore what makes this desert gem a perfect fit for your next California adventure.

Jackson's Hideaway RV Park is conveniently situated at 121 Vía De Coyote, Ocotillo, CA 92259, USA. This location places it just outside the small town of Ocotillo, in Imperial County, making it an ideal gateway to the vast and captivating Southern California desert. A significant advantage of its location is the remarkably easy access off Interstate 8 (I-8). For Californians traveling from San Diego, Imperial Valley, or even parts of Arizona, navigating to the park is straightforward, largely avoiding complicated routes.

A crucial tip for accessibility, as noted by long-term residents, is to use the Frontage Road (Evan Hewes Highway) when approaching from I-8. Relying solely on some GPS systems, like Google Maps, might inadvertently direct drivers down unpaved, soft sand roads where RVs or trailers could potentially get stuck. Taking the recommended Frontage Road ensures a smooth and safe arrival for all types of recreational vehicles.

Beyond its direct accessibility, the park's location in Ocotillo offers a unique set of regional advantages. For off-road enthusiasts, this is a dream come true. Just a couple of blocks west of the park lies extensive Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property, which is open for off-highway vehicle (OHV) use. This means direct access to miles of riding trails, allowing visitors to indulge in their passion for dirt biking, ATV riding, or UTV adventures to their heart's content. The region is renowned for its excellent off-roading conditions, particularly from Halloween through Memorial Day, when the weather is consistently pleasant.

For nature lovers and hikers, the breathtaking Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is just a short, scenic drive away via the "S2 Highway." This expansive state park offers a myriad of opportunities for hiking, exploring unique geological formations, and experiencing the quiet beauty of the desert landscape. Even within Ocotillo itself, there are plenty of places to walk dogs or take leisurely strolls, providing a relaxing environment for both two-legged and four-legged guests. The town of Ocotillo has also seen a recent "burst of business creation," now boasting establishments like "The Great Escape" (a full-service bar serving pizza and food), the "Red Feather" mini market and café (offering good breakfast and lunch), and the legendary "Lazy Lizard" bar. Additionally, a remodeled Chevron gas station on the other side of the freeway provides a well-stocked mini-market and clean bathrooms, ensuring that essential services are always within reach. For those seeking spiritual comfort, services are held every Sunday at the "Ocotillo Bible Church." This blend of immediate desert access and burgeoning local amenities makes Jackson's Hideaway's location exceptionally appealing for a wide array of Californians.

For Californians seeking an RV park that offers more than just a place to park, Jackson's Hideaway RV Park in Ocotillo stands out as an exceptional choice. Its suitability for locals stems from a unique combination of prime location, excellent amenities, and a truly welcoming community atmosphere. If you're an off-road enthusiast in Southern California, the direct access to BLM land means you can enjoy your hobby to the fullest, often more conveniently and cost-effectively than hauling your toys back and forth from urban centers. This can translate into significant savings on gas and time, making regular desert excursions a practical reality.

Beyond the thrill of off-roading, Jackson's Hideaway offers a fantastic option for those looking to escape the often-overcrowded coastal areas and immerse themselves in the tranquility and unique beauty of the desert. The park’s proximity to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park provides endless opportunities for hiking, photography, and exploring diverse desert landscapes, all within a short, scenic drive. For those seeking a quieter lifestyle or a seasonal retreat, the "Hideaway" offers a well-maintained, clean, and safe environment, a testament to the dedicated management by Bill. The "family-like" treatment from the Jacksons adds an invaluable human touch, creating a community where residents feel genuinely cared for and respected.

The affordability factor is also a major draw for Californians. With competitive rates for RV spaces and no uplift on electricity, it can be significantly less expensive to keep an RV here for extended periods compared to storage fees or utility costs in more populated areas. This makes it an ideal solution for those with a "toy box trailer" or motorhome who frequently visit the desert. The burgeoning local businesses in Ocotillo, including new dining and market options, further enhance the convenience for residents, meaning you don't have to travel far for essentials or a pleasant meal out. Whether you're a weekend warrior, a snowbird escaping colder climates, or simply someone looking for a peaceful and cost-effective desert haven, Jackson's Hideaway RV Park offers a compelling and highly suitable option for your California lifestyle.
