This property provides both mobile home lots and apartments, catering to different living preferences within a single location. For individuals and families considering affordable and long-term rental or home ownership alternatives in Carteret County, Hill's presents a straightforward approach to finding a place to call home.
As an established presence in Havelock, Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments provides a base for residents who appreciate a connection to the local community and convenience to key areas. While specific amenities may vary, the core offering is a stable residential environment. For locals exploring housing options in this part of North Carolina, it's a property that aims to provide fundamental living spaces within reach of military bases, schools, and local conveniences, though prospective residents should consider all available information carefully before making a decision.
Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments is located at 1500 NC-101, Havelock, NC 28532, USA. This address places it directly on a significant state highway in Havelock, a city in Craven County, North Carolina, renowned for its close ties to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. The park’s location on NC-101 ensures high visibility and convenient access to regional points of interest.
Havelock’s primary draw is its proximity to MCAS Cherry Point, making Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments a potentially convenient residential option for military personnel and their families. This allows for a shorter commute to the base, which is a significant factor for those associated with the military community.
The location also offers accessibility to local schools, which is important for families. Havelock High School is approximately 0.24 miles away, Havelock Middle School 0.55 miles, Havelock Elementary 0.66 miles, and Graham A Barden Elementary 1.92 miles. This makes school commutes relatively easy for students residing in the area. While the immediate vicinity on a state highway might be busy, the park's position generally allows for relatively quick access to local shopping, dining, and other essential services within Havelock. Larger urban centers like New Bern, with a broader range of amenities and healthcare facilities, are also within a reasonable driving distance from Havelock, typically around a 30-minute commute.
As a mobile home park and apartment complex, Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments provides fundamental services to its residents. While detailed information about every specific service is not extensively publicized, standard offerings for properties of this type in North Carolina would typically include:
- Mobile Home Lot Rentals: Providing designated spaces for manufactured homes, where residents typically own their homes and lease the land.
- Apartment Rentals: Offering apartments for rent, which generally include the living unit itself.
- Utility Connections: Both mobile home lots and apartments would have necessary hookups for essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity. Residents are typically responsible for their individual utility usage.
- Waste Management: Common trash collection services are generally facilitated for residents, ensuring proper disposal of household waste.
- Property Management: An administrative presence to manage leases, collect rent, and address general park and apartment-related inquiries and basic issues.
One review suggests potential delays in maintenance, stating "don't expect anything to be fixed anytime soon if you have a problem with let's say your air conditioner." While this comment might pertain to the responsiveness for issues within individual rented units or common areas, it highlights that proactive maintenance or quick resolution of repair requests might be a consideration for prospective residents. For precise details on services, responsibilities for maintenance, and any associated fees, direct inquiry with the management of Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments is strongly recommended.
Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments, as an established residential property in Havelock, offers several key features that contribute to its role as a housing option in the community. While a specific list of amenities is not widely detailed, the available information and nature of the property suggest certain highlights:
- Dual Housing Options: The property offers both mobile home lots and apartments, providing flexibility for different residential preferences within a single location. This can be appealing to a diverse group of residents.
- Established Presence: As an existing property, it offers a sense of a settled residential community, potentially appealing to those looking for a stable living environment rather than a newly developed area.
- Location on NC-101: Being directly on a state highway provides convenience for commuting and accessing local services in Havelock.
- Proximity to MCAS Cherry Point: Its location is particularly advantageous for military personnel and their families, offering a close and accessible housing option near the Marine Corps Air Station.
- Access to Local Schools: The convenient distance to Havelock's public schools (Havelock High, Middle, and Elementary, Graham A Barden Elementary) is a practical benefit for families with school-aged children.
- Affordable Housing Niche: Mobile home parks and apartments generally serve as more affordable housing alternatives compared to traditional single-family homes, making them accessible to a broader range of residents in the Havelock area.
It's important to note that while one review mentions "Owner does not keep the place up very well" and another details significant negative personal experiences with an individual alleged to be the owner (Vernon Hill), these are serious considerations for prospective residents. The review implies a lack of consistent maintenance of the common areas or overall property appearance, and raises concerns about management practices and safety. Therefore, while the property offers housing, these aspects should be thoroughly investigated by anyone considering moving to Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments.

For North Carolina residents in the Havelock area, Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments presents itself as a housing option that primarily offers affordability and a convenient location. While prospective residents should proceed with a thorough investigation, the inherent advantages of its positioning can be suitable for certain local needs.
Firstly, the property's dual offering of mobile home lots and apartments provides flexibility for locals seeking different types of living arrangements at what are typically more accessible price points than traditional homes. This affordability can be a critical factor for individuals and families in Havelock, allowing them to establish a residence in a desirable area without the higher financial burdens of other housing types.
Secondly, the location on NC-101 in Havelock offers significant practical advantages, particularly for those connected to MCAS Cherry Point. For military personnel and their families, the close proximity means reduced commute times, which can greatly improve daily life. The easy access to local schools also makes it a viable choice for families with children, ensuring convenient school runs within the community.
However, it is imperative for North Carolina locals considering Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments to carefully weigh the benefits against the serious concerns raised in customer reviews. The feedback regarding property upkeep ("Owner does not keep the place up very well") and severe allegations concerning management practices, personal experiences, and safety issues are critical. While the location and affordability may initially seem appealing, a comprehensive personal inquiry, including on-site visits and discussions with current residents if possible, is essential to ensure that the living environment aligns with individual expectations for safety, maintenance, and overall quality of life. For locals prioritizing a straightforward and budget-conscious housing solution in Havelock, a cautious and informed approach to Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments is highly advisable.

Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments Reviews
Owner does not keep the place up very well
May 01, 2025 · Steven Adams (Princess Sophia)HUGE DISCLAIMER - I am under the info that this living community is owned by VERNON HILL. If it is not, pleaaaase disregard the information in this review. If it is owned by VERNON HILL, pleaaaase take it into account as HILL had a horrible, utterly terrible effect on my life. Reasons are stated as follows:Lived in Vernon Hills Parh for 5+ years. Never late on rent once. My father, Erminio Lenins, passed away while I was living there. Vernon Hill self admittedly respected my father as Hill had been an insurance salesman as had my dad in the same County, Carteret.Three, as in 3, days after his passing, he told me and my girl, Ashley, that he was not renewing my lease and we would have to leave. He told me he was embarrassed at the amt of times officers had been out. I am saying that we argued at times, and officers came occasionally upon call, but literally neither one of us was ever arrested while living at Hills Mobile Home Park... Never once. While there for a length of two years a man named Robert Snow was a tenant. He was a convicted sexual predator who's crime was molesting his 1 year old daughter. He is on the sexual offenders list. Mr. Hill indicated to me that he had rented to a sexual offender on the list and apparently priorly new of his crime. He also told me that Snow had done additional time beating a prison guard badly. This who was in the adjacent trailer to me for two of the years I lived there. These mistakes in judgements is all that I really experienced from this man.Point 3...Last one. I signed an affidavit to help a friend catch someone stealing from her, as this friend had sold a shop she owned and consigned the merchandise (a large amt of it anyway) to a man named Richie. Hill owned the strip mall in front of his mobile home park as well where Richie had rented a spot to do business. He (Vernon Hill), out of the blue, because of his business dealings with Richie instructed me to reverse the affadavit as a bit of "friendly advice"! He's my landlord, so I did not know how he would react when I indicated that I would not. Being that that my affadavit was apparantly the tipping point for a judge to sign off on a raid of the shop and Richie's house for stolen merchandise. It (the lifted stuff) was found in both spots. This resembles witness tampering in my opinion. So, this is part of what I experienced over my time at Hills Mobile Home Park. Only if negative stars were an option on Google reviews. Stay away from Vernon Hill is my recommendation. As a note, He charged me $3000 as in three thousand some odd dollars when I moved out without producing a bill for any services rendered to the trailer of which I moved out. I was grieving for my father at the time so I just paid him. Prior to the demand he indicated to my fiance, Ashley, when they were in a private convo that he would be "very upset" if I did not make good on his demand. Boo on Vernon Hill. Boo on his business practices. He says he's a businessman. In my experience he more resembled a wannabe fear monger with a Napoleon Complex...a huge one.
Aug 16, 2023 · David LeninsI was tricked into signing a lease for a bedroom instead of a 2. Place wasn't ready. Before I signed the lease, I was told we could add roommates to the lease. Nowhere does the lease say we can't add roommates to the lease. After getting paid from my new roommates, the owner Jeremy told me, he was going to envict me for allowing them to move in. He also googled my name to pull up a news article for me getting arrested for charges that were dropped. He been harrassing me over this ever since.
Nov 01, 2022 · Gods sonIts affordable living and kept clean. Mgmnt seems friendly as well as the maintenace man- both are onsight which is always a plus. Quiet and set back off the mainroad also
Sep 15, 2023 · Elle NinoThe landlord is a slum lord. We lost our trailer during Hurricane Florence. Celiling caved in and mold everywhere. We lost everything. The slum lord couldn't or wouldn't give us our deposit back even though we were homeless and could use whatever we could get. He kept dodging our phone calls and texts. Beware before you rent here. If you have any problems, he goes about fixing them the cheapsest way he can and his maintenence man is a complete idiot.
